the dancing lights dart around near the spider, but it doesn't respond. As people draw closer, there's a soft noise.

DC 12 perception:
the noise sounds like chewing, and the abdomen of the spider seems to be wriggling.

the drow hobbles along, staying close to azlana. The elf decides to insist that
"you should check and see if it's alive, if it isn't moving."
unaware that's already what's going on. Horgus...
"ugh. It's so big and nasty."

It's that 17 Charisma. Not too bright outside of his ummm... focus, but he has his points. (I'm also considering swapping my intimidate point for diplo to keep it IC, if you don't have a problem with that Icehawk. Wanted to do it before it actually comes into play.)

Xexik, sighs, he hoped he could avoid using this, but everyone here seems to have some sort of problem with the dark. He couldn't see in the dark, no, but he had other senses that has helped him in his life. But now, well. Things have changed quickly. Adapt to your situation he was taught.

Aravahnial nods. "that would be for the best." he says to ueto.
The scales, upon being handled again, impart a sense of great sadness. Thier abilities suddenly become immidatly clear- two of them provide a spell called cloudwalking, that functions very similarly to levitate, but creating a billowing pillar below the user, one of them provides a spell of alter self, another provides resist elements (cold or electricity), and the last three provide align weapon, but only to lawful or good. None of these effects work if more then one scale is held by the same creature. All of the scales work three times a day.

the two are only capable of 15 feet of movement a round- unless they are left behind, this means that walking speed is likely only 15 feet a round.
anvina looks to azlana again.

she turns to Lina, and whispers something to her, before turning to aravahnial again.
"What do you think about staying behind azlana?

"huh, they seem to be enchanted.... I'm not a psychic but even I can feel the emotion just suffusing these things....." she goes quiet for a bit, possibly to collect herself. a dragon doesn't show weakness she thinks to herself before continuing there's enough magic in them though that they can act as scrolls but reusable.... two cloudwalks, one alter self, one resist energy and three align weapon..... for some reason they have that annoying magic resonance thing that keeps you from using more than like, two magic rings, so we should split them up. I'll take the cloud walk or resist energy. I'm not picky which one"

It'd be fun to have some past interactions with others. Haruto is new to the area, having come across the Crown of the World from Tian Xia only a few months back, so if anyone is the type to be nice to the new guy in town that might be how you met him. He's also about as Desnan as it's possible to be, so he and Lina (or maybe even Lothar) may well have met due to their shared faith.

I did leave my story fairly open as to when I arrived in/near Mendev, but I was aiming for Nerosyan to start rather than Kenabres because the location makes more sense from an IC standpoint - going south around the Worldwound on the way to Nerosyan rather than probably triple the distance to go north around it in order to get to Kenabres. If you joined the Crusades in Nerosyan and then went north to Kenabres, then it would be easy enough to say that we met for a few days before you left but as I was going through whatever vetting process the Crusaders might have.

Unless Icehawk has a preferred starting location in mind for us all?

Alright. I'll add another paragraph to my story tonight when I get home from work since my lunch is about to end. Something to give me a reason for having left Nerosyan and ending up in Kenabres. Ueto, maybe we ended up travelling together on the way north, or did you go straight to Kenabres?

I don't know that that would work, besides that Lina was probably educated by the temple, she's also 28 to Azlana's 20. If Azlana matures at the same rate as a human, then they'd actually be close to the same age developmentally, but Lina was raised among humans so she's long out of school. She would be closer to Zade's age, though, maybe she knew him before he was shipped out of Kenabres?

A comrade during training, watching each others' backs, it could have been a long-lasting friendship, but then Zade was sent away, and Lina isn't a respected figure, she's just a grunt to the higher-ups, she doesn't know any more about what happened to Zade than Azlana does...

How about we just say that Haruto met Lothar in Nerosyan but went to Kenabres before him? And Hanna showed Haruto around Kenabres once he arrived? We can fill in other details as needed, but that should be enough to start.

I guess that I should note that Haruto has, thus far, remained in human form. He's guessing that looking like a two-tailed fox person might not go over well in Mendev, given the hair-trigger response to anything that might be a demon in the region.
