Skarn does considerable damage to the skeleton. It stays focussed on the dwarf, as if the greasy layer covering him is a delicious frosting that needs to be peeled of and consumed.

prescience: 1d20 ⇒ 13 enough to pick it if a save is needed
Good idea, says Maldrek seeing how the ghost creates a pit, but it will be better under your minion then he casts own pit under the skeleton feet.
DC 18 reflex save or: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11 falling damage
Professor Dario Westone |
Unseen, Dario moves close to Ilzinian and tries to break the Paladin from the spell.
Use standard to break Ilzinian's fascination
Zavita |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
It puts the life oracle in the hole..I am assuming 40ft deep
How embarrassing. Zavita stands up and looks up at the opening to the top.
Crap..I forgot to stock up on scrolls
GMG |
Please note: the edges of the pit are sloped, and any creature ending its turn on a square adjacent (incl diagonal) to the pit must make a Reflex saving throw with a +2 bonus to avoid falling into it. Pit is indeed 40 ft deep
Maldrek: the skeleton is hovering a feet above ground, creating a pit has no use
Dario slaps Ilzinian, breaking him out of his fascination. Kahn tries to bite the ghost but does not hit him. The big bird scrabbles to keep standing on the uneven groun but eventually it looses it's footing and glides into the pit. It falls down hard, taking Doyote with it and falling atop Zavita!
Reflex Kahn: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Thank for the reminders
Maldrek falls back, glad to not have been an objetive for the skeleton. Then he cast a glitterdust in the room's corner, making the dust fall only over his enemies. Will DC 18 negates
Maldrek rolled a 13 in his prescience, in case a TS is needed

I guess it is Maldrek's glitterdust. I have removed it as the effect had been resolved
Maldrek "el liberto" |
Yes, it was my glitterdust. But I was expecting a better result; the last time I was in the glooming spires I was able to blind the undead boss
Henrick Bulwark |
Sorry - kids schedule had me swamped the last few days. I am back now.
Henrick swings his urgrosh at the skeleton, looking to shatter it into tiny pieces.
2H Urgrosh +1 axe blade, power attack, hated foe: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 10 - 2 + 4 = 32
Damage: 1d8 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 4 = 17

If I'm not mistaken, the urgrosh has a x3 multiplier, so that another 1d8+15. Nice rolls!

You're right! GM - please add:
Damage: 1d8 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 11 + 4 = 23

The skeleton's bones clatter into the pit, covering Zavita, Doyote and Khan. The ghost begins to wail "No! They killed you my love! Aluu-
Nekva, I will avenge you!"
Ilzinian Smite: 1d20 + 12 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 12 + 4 + 1 = 36
Ilzinian Confirm Smite: 1d20 + 12 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 12 + 4 + 1 = 31
Damage: 2d8 + 10 + 28 + 2 ⇒ (8, 8) + 10 + 28 + 2 = 56
Ilzinian replies with a mighty attack, shearing through the immaterial substance as if it was flesh and blood. The ghost disperses in tiny flecks of darkness that quickly disappear!
Out of combat! I am sorry for killing the BBEG with the NPC.
You wait a minute and the pit disappears. Luckily Doyote can also talk normal again. Stacked behind the black curtain are several crates containing various spices and seasonings worth 100 gp. The Orb of Stars is lying on the floor in front of one of the crates, along with a bottle of nightmarish pigments. One of the crates also contains a
pouch of void dust. After healing you check behind the door, a yawning pit full of crackling back energy fills the southwest corner of this otherwise empty chamber. Climbing down the stairs fills you with dread and hurts your mind. Negative energy that also heals undead ;-)

Nonsense! That was an extension of Dario's amazing action!
The Professor finds the Orb of Stars and carefully lifts it. "Its here! We've finally found it!"

Maldrek "el liberto" |
I'm ok with the paladin killing it; it's the outcome of our efforts to solve Izilnian's curse and have it ready to fight
Another tomb explored, my master will be pleased by it says Maldrek clearly satisfied of having explored another floor. but I need to investigate in some spells to affect incorporeal beings.
Then he hears Doyote and Skar suggestion to move on and agrees with them. Yes, let's go out of here to meet the captain
GMG |
You manage to navigate the labyrinth back and return to the surface, although it again takes considerable time.
On the top of the Gloomspire Jaohd Ilzinian presents you with his longsword Ether’s Kiss. "Here, take this as a token of my gratitude."
You descend the gloomspire and find your small boat ready to take you to the Grinning Pixie where you bring out a full report to Calisro Bennarry. She congratulates you for your heroic efforts and sympathizes with Ilzinian for his plight.
He tells you he will think about his experiences at a temple of Shelyn and Bennary offers to sail him to any temple of his choice.
You mention and describe the shaft going down that is filled with negative energy. Benarry can barely contain her enthusiasm, and she hints strongly that she may have another mission in store in the near future....

Do I need to do anything to heal this ability damage before end of scenario? I think plain rest eventually heals it, right? Or no?

Henrick, ability damage will heal. For the negative levels I asked for fortitude saves in discussion thread. Rolling them for you:
Rolling Henrick Fort save 1 vs neg level DC18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Rolling Henrick Fort save 2 vs neg level DC18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Do you happen to have a reroll for that second save? If you do:
Rerolling Henrick Fort save 2 vs neg level DC18, 2 GM stars: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 2 = 14 Nevermind, would not have mattered
GMG |
Negative Level
Henrick has one permanent negative level.
This can be either resolved by paying 4 PP or by paying 1280 gold.
I will leave the choice to Henrick.
Doyote and Maldrek have said they would chip in for gold.
Dario: you can't chip in for PP, it is either 4 PP or none. Sharing PP cost is not allowed. So you either have to pay everything or nothing for a single cast of restoration.
Day Job
Does anybody have a day job? Skarn has said he does not have one, but I did not see anything from the others.
Advancement
I assume you are all at normal advancement and nobody is at slow advancement.
Skarn Moonbane |
I actually have a day job now that I realize it, but if you have already filled my chronicle sheet it doesn't matter, I'll forgo it. If you haven't, here goes:
Perform (oratory) : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Thanks for the offer team, but I have lot's of PP saved up just for this occasion, so I can use the 4PP to get restored.
No day job here...

Let me know if I need to make any changes. Chronicles will stay online for 6 months. Thanks for playing, I will close this game after the weekend.
FYI: the date is related to online gameday V

Thanks, GMG!
