GM Fuzzfoot |
Sorry, I forgot Elendril is out on vacation, so I guess I am the hold up here...
Jumblegrin snaps again at Meredith, almost killing her. But she manages to persevere, and makes it to the shore.
AoO: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Merisiel gets to the other side at about the same time.
Elendril takes aim at the croc with his longbow and fires, but the arrow flies harmlessly into the water.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Round 2: (bold may act)
Wilhelm, Etune
Jumblegrin the Croc
Elendril, Merisiel, Meredith
.Pregen/4. |
Man, I really am the damage sponge here, huh?
I have 1 HP now, man. Join the team. :P
Etune Snowfoot |
The halfling's eyes widen as half the party gets eviscerated, and flees for the relative safety of being near Elendril as she points her finger at the crocodile!
Ranged Touch Attack(Ray of Frost)(White Draconic Bloodline): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 141d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
GM Fuzzfoot |
You both miss the croc, but seem to convince it to stay in the water, allowing Meredith to escape. The crocodile submerges and seems to disappear.
How does everyone else cross?
Meredith Une |
"Oh thank you...I was afraid we would have to hurt it." Meredith clutches her midsection and presses her wand to the wound.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
She'll heal anyone else, once they get there (you can make your CLW rolls.)
.Pregen/4. |
Meredith's Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"Thank you, ms. 'new fangs'", Merisiel thank Meredith for the heal, making reference to the druid's new sharp claws and teeth.
Meredith Une |
"Thank you, ms. 'new fangs'", Merisiel thank Meredith for the heal, making reference to the druid's new sharp claws and teeth.
"Don't remind me. My hair turned into a bouquet this morning." She plucks another handful of flowers from her head.
Etune Snowfoot |
"Anyone have some meat we can toss in the river to distract the crocodile while we cross? I'm not volunteering!"
Etune watches the river warily, and the bridge... and then the river...
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
.Pregen/4. |
"Anyone have some meat we can toss in the river to distract the crocodile while we cross? I'm not volunteering!"
Etune watches the river warily, and the bridge... and then the river...
[dice=Perception]1d20+6
"I think you can cross the river by the logs now. Those axes already have the flesh they wanted. It seems to be the more safe way."
GM Fuzzfoot |
You are all able to navigate across, and when you find the archer, you see he was hiding in front of a very well camouflaged hunting blind. You also find that he had 4 scrolls fo cure light wounds, a masterwork composite longbow (+1 Str rating), and 20 silver arrows. It appears he was hunting lycanthropes, which a couple of your now resemble.
Wilhelm Tell |
Wilhelm shakes his head, and snarls.
"Yet another misguided fool, being led astray by what they wanted to see, rather than trying to get to the bottom of the situation. Let's keep moving - I would rather avoid any similar 'accidents', and to get this sorted out as quickly as possible, so that we don't have every lycanthrope hunter in the inner sea congregating on this area."
Etune Snowfoot |
The halfling considers this for a moment.
"Makes you wonder if maybe the druids are on to something, doesn't it? I don't think that's the case, but we're on a timetable and we need to get moving, right?"
Etune is ready to move along as soon as the rest of the party is, because time is of the essence...
Meredith Une |
Meredith carefully grabs the scrolls, making sure not to tear them against her thorns. "All will come in handy."
"Yes, Etune. We need to move, quickly."
GM Fuzzfoot |
You continue your journey, and eventually arrive at your destination.
Briar Henge is a bristling fortress. The compound is roughly circular and approximately 100 feet across. The walls are made of tangled thorn bushes twelve feet high, although the compound does not appear to have a roof. The only break in the prickly wall is a gap five feet wide and eight feet high. Hanging ivy covers this doorway and blocks the view of the interior of the compound.
.Pregen/4. |
Merisiel will sneakily come close to the brushes, and try to see any movement in there.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 20 for traps.
Meredith Une |
Meredith takes a look for any sentries.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Stealth: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
"Looks clear to me. Anyone else?" Meredith doesn't know the first thing about stealth, it seems.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Wolfhound: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Other: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Meredith: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Merisiel: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Etune: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Elendril: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Wilhelm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Wolfhound: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Other: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
As you approach, you see a Wolfhound sniffing the air, barking after catching your scent. You think you see something fluttering near it's ear.
Round 1: (bold may act)
Wilhelm, Meredith, Elendril
Dog, Other
Merisiel, Etune
Meredith Une |
Meredith's hands sprout spikes as she slashes at the dogs.
Wooden Fist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4
5 more rounds of wooden fist.
"Sorry boy. Time is of the essence."
GM Fuzzfoot |
I think Elendril is still out, so...
Elendril begins to sing a song with a lovely tune, inspiring you all to greatness.
The fluttering creature disappears from view.
The dog, of course, attacks Meredith (who apparently still hasn't noticed the big target painted on her back as a joke in act 1).
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Trip Attempt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Meredith takes another nasty wound, as the dog pulls her to the ground (prone).
Round 1: (bold may act)
Wilhelm, Meredith (prone, 8 dmg), Elendril
Dog (4 dmg) , Other (not visible)
Merisiel, Etune
Etune Snowfoot |
Etune pulls a chunk of something white and dusty out of her bags, even as her hands once again become white and scaly...
Free Action: Grow Claws
Move Action: Pull Chalk from bag
And then she starts powdering the chunk into dust with her right claw, coughing a bit as it piles up in her left clawed hand. "Acck... pffthhh. Bleah..."
Standard Action: Turning chalk piece into chalk dust
GM Fuzzfoot |
While we wait for Merisiel to finish round 1, we can start into round 2...
Round 1: (bold may act)
Merisiel
Round 2: (bold may act)
Wilhelm, Meredith (prone, 8 dmg), Elendril
Dog (4 dmg) , Other (not visible)
Merisiel, Etune
GM Fuzzfoot |
The arrow pierces the dog's side, almost putting it down. But it continues to fight.
Round 1: (bold may act)
Merisiel
Round 2: (bold may act)
Wilhelm, Meredith (prone, 8 dmg), Elendril
Dog (12 dmg) , Other (not visible)
Merisiel, Etune
Meredith Une |
Whether or not Merisiel and Elendril defeat the dog, Meredith knows she can't do much on the ground here.
So she stands. (Her next action depends on whether she survives.)
GM Fuzzfoot |
You can attack from a prone position, can't you? Granted, there is a penalty, but...
The dog takes the opportunity to bite at Meredith.
AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Ouch! The dog grabs Meredith by the neck and shakes her to unconsciousness.
Note - we may want to wait on Merisiel's action, as it may prove pivotal. She might just be out for the weekend, so if we don't hear from her by morning, we can bot her.
.Pregen/4. |
Round 1
Merisiel moves close to the dog and stabs it.
Atk rapier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 101d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Round 2
She missed the first attack, so she makes a strategic movement to the back of the dog (5-ft. step), and flanks it with Meredith.
Atk rapier + sneak: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d6 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (2) = 6
.Pregen/4. |
Haha. I think only one enemy has missed me during this entire scenario. Meanwhile my level 2 Magus has dodged everything thrown at her, and she's AC 14. Let's wait for Merisiel, eh?
I'm having better rolls with Peter Krauss... -.-'
Meredith Une |
I'm having better rolls with Peter Krauss... -.-'
Haha, yeah. He's a real warrior, there. Elendril's my only hope now!
Etune Snowfoot |
Core seems to be far more dangerous than Standard. On the Confirmation, I was in horrific shape after the first encounter...
GM Fuzzfoot |
Welcome back, Elendril! And yes, you have at least saved Meredith's bacon!
Elendril's arrow thuds into the dog, who drops dead. (Well, mostly dead..definitely dying)
This allows Meredith to stand without being torn to shreds (which was what would have happened).
Merisiel feels the tinglings of a spell being cast on her.
Please make a DC 15 Fort save
Meredith Une |
Meredith realizes she has to stand. As she does the dog lunges for her throat and barely grips just as Elendril's arrow pierces the beast.
"Sorry little guy." Meredith frowns. "It was you or me..." That would have put me at -6 HP...
She stands up and pulls out one of the hunter's scrolls of cure light wounds.
Etune Snowfoot |
Seeing Meredith so upset about the dog, Etune moves up to try and stabilize it. Maybe it's just got a bad master?
Heal(Untrained): 1d20 ⇒ 2
Yep... it looks dead alright.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Sorry, Wilhelm - I wanted to see how Merisiel fared first, to better describe...
As you see the dog fall, and look around for your invisible friend, Merisiel feels funny, and suddenly starts shrinking. Reduce person spell.
As she shrinks, you see wings pop into view as the small creature flits around and lands next to Merisiel, now a little closer in size.
"En garde!" is says in its diminutive voice, pointing an appropriately sized rapier at her. "I challenge you to a duel."
Round 2: (bold may act)
Wilhelm, Meredith (8 dmg), Elendril
Diminutive duelist
Merisiel, Etune
Etune Snowfoot |
The halfling pulls out her mace as she moves up, but doesn't attack, waiting to see what Merisel does.
Etune goes on Delay
.Pregen/4. |
"What a hell..."
Merisiel looks to the little creature, that now have the same size as her, and strikes it with her rapier.
"Is this really necessary?", she asks, frankly.
Atk Rapier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
GM Fuzzfoot |
The little Merisiel hits the little opponent directly.
Round 3: (bold may act)
Wilhelm, Meredith (8 dmg), Elendril
Diminutive duelist (2 dmg)
Merisiel, Etune
Meredith Une |
Meredith uses one of the scrolls on herself.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Most of the wounds close, except for a cut near her calf. She kneels beside the dog.
"Merisiel? You need any help, or..."
Wilhelm Tell |
I am here - I thought you were dueling ;-)
Shaking his head, Wilhelm fires a brace of arrows at the tiny fey creature.
Bow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22, for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 damage.
Bow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10, for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 damage.
Still using cold iron arrows ;-)
