Nossac |
Nossac moves forward in order to get a clearer shot at the creature.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
But he slightly stumbles while moving over some of the dead bodies and the arrow sinks into a pile behind the creature.
Morgrym Dolgringrun |
With just one maggot left it resorts to it's most natural instinct, it regurgitates all over Morgyrm!
DC 13 Fortitude or be sickened for one minute!
fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 +5 vs spell-like abilities, +3 vs poison
Foradass |
Foradass will attempt to hold down the creature so that others can kill it.
Roll to maintain grapple CMB: 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 5 = 21
Roll to pin the maggot CMB: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
I will hold the last beast down, end it so that it's essence can return to the earth.
Moggot is now pinned. It is treated as having a 0 Dex score, and receives the negative AC to reflect that, as well as having an additional -4 to it's AC.
Andlat |
Andlat will move forward slightly to get a better angle on the now held down beast.
Good work Foradass, hold him there!
Attack with acid splash. Acid Splash: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Someone finish it off
Nossac |
I did not realize it was grappled, my arrow would have hit then, lol. It should be dead.
Hegron |
Having dropped his bardiche, Hegron moves in on the last creature without a single word, taking up a flanking position with Foradass.
Moving to J:10 and attacking Maggot 4.
Heavy Flail Attack vs. Maggot 4: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 17Damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Rage: 10/12 rounds
AC: 16 (Modifiers: +1 [Combat Expertise])
HP: 4/14
Effects: Controlled Rage (+4STR) + Bless + Flanking
GM Schiffer |
As the last maggot dies Anevia rushes and begins digging through the bodies. "My wife may be dead in these piles!" she says franticly, "Please help me search for her! A half-orc! She'll be in crusaders armor!"
Neither Aravshnial nor Horgus help her search. Aravashnial is blind though, so you can't be to upset with him.
Even if yo don't help search there are no bodies in this pile that resemble Anevia's wife, and you may continue on down that path.
Go ahead and interact with your fellow PCs and the NPCs for a post or too
After the maggots Horgus begins complaining about every little scratch and bump that he suffers.
200 XP each from the maggots
Morgrym Dolgringrun |
Morgrym helps with the terrible search. So many civilians dead. So man soldiers. He would Damn these Demons, were it not redundant to do so.
"Does anyone have a way to burn these poor dead folk? I do no like leaving 'em here like this."
Y'know, if we're going through the dead anyway, does anything leap out at us as being useful? Dwarven Breastplates, Carts of food....
To Andlat, quietly
"Lad, the lady is distraught. I'd offer her comfort meself, but I've not the way with words ye do."
Nossac |
Nossac will begin aiding in the search.
What does she look like, lets try and find her so that we can put her soul to rest.
Nossac says with a comforting tone. He then surveys the room to try and figure out a good way to prepare the bodies for burning/Last rights.
I believe we have a torch, that would be our best bet. Might not be wise to use it though, it could burn up all the air and fill our lungs with ash.
He looks around to try and find a vent of some sort to see if the smoke would go anywhere.
Foradass |
I will search for her, and anything else I can find.
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Foradass will search the piles and not find her beloved, I do not know if he finds anything useful.
I do not see a humanoid matching your description lady elf.
Andlat |
I will approach and try to hug and console Anevia.
My lady, she is not hear, perhaps this means that she is still alive fighting to find you. Where you with her when you fell in here? Is she a skilled warrior? What is her name?
I will attempt diplomacy to console her. diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
I would wait for a response from her, but I have a question for Aravashnial for after she responds, and I'm just going to post in now.
Aravashnial, are you trained in the arcane arts? Few know what a summoning ritual is, and fewer still would not be suprised by it. I remember the first time I summoned a create in the house, our mother nearly fainted.
Hegron |
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Hegron empathizes with the concern in the woman's voice, and he joins in on the search, though he is not able to find much - "I admire your courage in searching through this" - he comments - "It is better to know for certain what has become of our loved ones, than to be left in doubt" - he attempts to calm her - "If there is anything to be found, we will. If not, keep your hopes up - it will help you getting through this place, and back up top"
Diplomacy?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Morgrym Dolgringrun |
Aravashnial, are you trained in the arcane arts? Few know what a summoning ritual is, and fewer still would not be suprised by it. I remember the first time I summoned a create in the house, our mother nearly fainted.
"Fainted! Yer exageratin' fer effect there, lad. What on Golarion possessed ye to summon..." Morgrym realises what Andlat is doing, and shuts up, returning to the search with a will.
GM Schiffer |
While their is food here it has gone bad. The standard chain mail and longswords can be taken off the crusaders, all master work. There is more than enough weapons and armor for all of you, but they do carry the mark of Iomedea on them. Not sure if that would be a problem for you guys.
Anevia accepts Andlat's hug and nods at both him and Hegron, "You are right, she is not here with the dead so I can only assume she is still alive, but Hegron is right. It is hard not knowing for sure." She takes a deep breath and continues, "Her name is Irabeth and she is a paladin to Iomedea and a member of the Eagle's Talon. If she is alive, she is fighting."
After Anevia has been comforted Andlat posses his question to Aravshnial. who responds with, "I myself am a conjurer, so the summoning ritual is well known to me. Be carful though, most summoners in Mendev are feared for their connection to outsiders, even though there are good outsiders. The fear of demons have left many common folk and much of the crusaders to fear any outsiders without feathered wings!"
When you are ready to move on, open up the spoiler below and post a reaction. I'll just leave it as a spoiler for now so that it doesn't take up a lot of reading space until you are ready to read it :)
This history check is tied to the spoiler above, and you can make it when you post your entrance to the room
Morgrym Dolgringrun |
Morgrym suggests that people might want to arm and armour up - thinking the NPCs here. He'll take any rope he can find.
"I don't like leavin' folks here like this, but we've no fire to burn them, nor holy ground to bury them in."
He says a prayer for the departed
"Ach - it sounds like tomb robbin', but we've more need for the gear than these poor folk. I reckon the'd share with us if we asked, given the situation. Horgus over here could use some extra protection fer sure."
"See if the lass needs some armour, lad. I don't want to see her gettin' killed. Not much good to her wife dead, is she."
Morgrym will appropriate a set of masterwork chain mail, making a note to return it to an Iomedan temple at first opportunity - or change the symbol and make a donation.
Hegron |
Hegron goes through the corpses without much worry, but he seems pleased, smiling at Anevia when she confirms that her wife is not amongst the deceased - "Good, now we get back to the only thing we can - looking for a path to the surface, and then finding her" - he winks.
He then goes through the weapons and armor, holding a chainmail in front of him - "This is too heavy for me, it will bog me down" - he comments, dropping it aside - "Fine blades" - he adds looking at the longswords and shrugging - "A shame to leave all this here"
As the group prepares to leave, Hegron finishes bandaging his wounds, gathers his gear and gets moving.
This is not something I usually do, but just to let you guys know that Hegron is at 4/14 hp - if anyone could throw him a heal, that would be cool - and then I'll tell you how I will act in the next room - either I am up front, or in the back ;)
Morgrym Dolgringrun |
[b]"Take it if ye want lad. I'm an armoursmith by trainin' and I've some basic tools wit' me. I could probably fix it up for ye... given time. I could see to ya wounds, too - I've a basic healin' kit. I can petition Torag for his help as well, he's a da.. dear sight faster than waiting fer it to heal natural... but I can't do it often and I usually wait for someone to be dyin' afore I'll use it.
I can burn for a heal, but not much. Craft armoursmith means I could probably knock you up some armour from raw materials, which I assume this is. Heal means I can treat your wounds. If we're prepared to camp all this can be yours... otherwise I don't want someone dying because I can't hit them with a heal to stabilize them. I've only got two spells I can burn in that way.
Nossac |
Nossac eyes the equipment and replaces his sword with one of the ones on the ground.
Take a quick rest, say a prayer for the dead and we will move on.
Morgrym Dolgringrun |
Moving into the next room...
"Oh - tha's a stirrin' sight"
Hegron |
As they walk into the room, Hegron stares initially at the breathtaking sight of the enormous carved statues - Warriors of Old for sure - he ponders, remembering his own tribe for a moment.
Then, refocusing his attention, he scans the room from the entrance, the polearm in one hand, and his sling in easy reach.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Nossac |
The artwork in the room is truly remarkable, would you like me to describe it to you?
Nossac asks in a serious tone.
Nossac |
Nossac begins describing the warriors in detail and offers to guide Aravshnial's hand to each so that he might detect the subtlety's of the craft.
Andlat |
Picking up a set of the armor.
This chain mail is too heavy for me, Horgus, Aravshnial, Anevia, can any of you use it, or perhaps a longsword with which to defend yourself?
Nossac |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
I have seen enough of the creatures down here to know that none are our friend. I suggest you be at the ready.
Nossac quickly prepares his bow in anticipation of hostile action and readies an arrow should any take such an action.
Andlat |
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Drawing his new crossbow and waiting for the creatures to make a move Andlat steps next to one of the statues to use it as cover if needed.
Foradass, have you seen their kind before?
Foradass |
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31 Knowledge nature: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Staring at the creatures for a long moment with his glowing eyes, Foradass finally responds.
Not is all my moons have a seen creates such as these. Be wary and defend yourselves.
GM Schiffer |
"No Andlat, this armor will slow me down as well, it will be even worse with my leg." replies Anevia to Andlat when he offers her the armor.
You all spot the creatures hiding behind one of the statues, but they make no move to attack and in fact seem afraid, shrinking behind the statues.
In any event, Aravashnial is very interested in these statues, "I am very interesting in these statues. For a long time I have had a theory that some of the first crusaders fled beneath the city when they discovered that their bodies had been tainted by the demonic energies of the worldwound! I believe that they would not have been effected by I have found reports from those times, buried and hidden in libraries and the like, of course, that suggest that their children were deformed and they came to these caverns to raise their children in safety from those who would do them harm! I do hope we find proof of this to be true while we are down here!"
Nossac |
Nossac will use detect evil to flesh out any in the area.
Andlat |
Sounds like they aren't but I would rather not shoot first and ask questions later, so we try something else first. Foradass stay right behind me.
Move forward a ways Andlat will motion in the direction of the creatures. It's ok, you can come out, we will not hurt you.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Or i'll roll a 1
Nossac |
Nossac lowers his bow, but keeps it at the ready in case they lash out at them.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Andlat |
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Guys, I hear something coming from up ahead, it sounds like chanting of some kind. I can't make out what is being said though.
Andlat will move forward just a bit to try and hear better.
Nossac |
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Go check it out and see what it is, and someone please go with him. I'll keep an eye out over here.
