After the bugs move, so you don't have to wait for me later.
Xeno taps the blade of the rapier to the door frame and it lights up with a ghostly flame. Swift action to use arcane pool to give sword +1 for 1 minute 4/5 arcane pool left.
She then quickly thrusts towards the nearest bug.

With the bugs surprised after Amaruu throws his javelin he makes a dash to the corner and slashes the bug he just hit. He makes a two-handed grip on his sawtooth saber before impaling the creature.
Assuming they still count as flat-footed because they will not have acted yet.
If Amaruu killed the bug with the javelin throw he will move to another.

Amaruu quickly cuts down two fire beetles, then Xeno kills the last one before it gets a chance to act.
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, was working 12hr night shifts and was completely worn down by the time I got home.

Nice Herman...
Herman is so interested in the corpses of the giant beetles he fails to look around at anything else much in the room. He studies the build and form of the beasts in order to compose a poem about them later.
"Giant Beetles,
Giant Bugs,
Good for slicing,
Good for ...."
"Guess that still needs work," Herman says absentmindedly aloud.

"Dying? Well I guess I better leave song making to bards,"

"What do you suppose this room once was?" Xeno says poking around with her rapier.
perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (14) - 2 = 12
Not seeing anything she walks through to the next room down the corridor. Room 9

DM Dustin M |

8) At the end of this corridor sits a sinister-looking fountain in a rounded alcove. A four-headed hydra, displayed in cross formation, protrudes from the middle of the rounded wall. The hydra’s heads all face directly down the hallway. Its top head’s mouth is firmly shut, its socketed eyes staring darkly down the corridor, and its head fin is flared and up. On that head fin, a single Kelish word is carved into the stone. The other three heads have toothy mouths open wide and reclined head fins; these obviously served as spouts for the fountain. Just below the mouths is a ceramic basin. The basin has been dry for many long centuries now.
9) This large room looks like it was once a scribing chamber. The remains of many desks are scattered about, and amid the rubble is a number of long-dried inkwells, other writing utensils, and scraps of paper. These things are covered with black mold and patches of light green mushrooms.
Amid a particularly thick patch of fungus in the southeast sits a pale and crusty froglike humanoid. It trembles and twitches as it stands and lurches forward. His skin is patchy and dry, like a squid left out in the sun and sand. His bulbous eyes open, and light stabs out from them.

Herman is fascinated by the hydra statue at the end of the corridor. "Glad we haven't seen that ugly thing in here yet. It looks like it could be really mean if angry. I wonder if they have these in Qadira? Does anyone know what this word means?" If no one knows, Herman will write the word in his journal meaning to ask the Qadirian count later.
In the other room: If the creature is threatening or still alive when his count comes around, Herman will attempt to Daze the humanoid frog thing. (DC14)
If there's no combat or the thing has passed on already, then hold action I'll reconsider.

Menas the White |

Is there anything interesting in 8? Or we didn't have enough time to explore and we got aggro'ed by this froglike humanoid?
"An abomination in front, take heed."
Menas will move 20 ft towards the creature, and draws out his scimitar.
I can't move my token, but there would be a 5 ft space between Menas and the creature.

DM Dustin M |

The hydra statue was at the end of 8, and people had moved into 9 where the frog was.
Amaruu and Xeno both hit the creature hard. The creature eyes then start to shine very bright light out of its eyes. Anybody in the room needs to make a dc 13 fort check or be blinded. It then turns on Amaruu and attacks.

Herman is overcome when the creature's glaring lights strike him. He tries to look away, but the beams have seared his retinae, causing him to see only the white afterglow of the lights.
"I...I..can't see. I can't see. Help!" he says fearfully.
He stumbles around until he finds a wall and stands next to it, thankful for something solid to ground himself.

While no longer bleeding out Xeno is rather quiet for the hour until people can see her laying unconscience on the ground. Her veil has upwards allowing you to see her skin for the first time, while normal in colour it scaly.

As Dietrich's vision slowly returns, he begins to take stock of what happened.
"I must once again praise my fellow warriors, but one of our number appears to be badly injured. I must admit I have no skill in healing to speak of, but perhaps Storn or Herman would be willing to see to her?"

"Damn frog thing - alright who's down..."
Storn fumbles around blindly until he hears Amaruu chanting. He waits a moment and checks Xeno. Deciding she is still hurt, he chants a spell as well.

Herman is relieved when his eyes regain function again. He is a bit startled at Xeno's unusual appearance, but says nothing.
"What was that frog thing with the bright lights? I've never heard of it's like?"
He busies himself drawing a sketch of it's likeness as the others begin to stir from blind-camp.

"What happened?" Xeno asks sitting up winking. She picks up her rapier and straightens her clothes and looks around suspiciously at her companions. "Thank you, I seem to owe someone a debt. That thing's claws were sharp, they have gone clean through my armour in places."

![]() |

"You owe either of us no debt. You fight well and leak life blood from our foes."
I should have saved a heal spell for me, but I used my last for this stranger. It seemed like the pragmatic thing to do though, but... working with others will be a challenge on my old ways.
