Storn sighs and looks down the hallway behind him as arrows and spells fly towards the ooze.
"And someone has to watch our backs."

Seeing the others attack with their weapons opposed to spells, Amaruu steps forward and attacks the ooze. He doubles his grip on the sawtooth blade as he slashes down.

Putting away his crossbow, Herman sighs. "Well that certainly went okay. So far, this creepy place isn't too bad." He gives the rest of the group a sardonic smile.
"I say we check out what's behind this door. Closed doors are usually there for a reason. Let's see what it is."
Herman will listen at the door, and if he hears nothing, will gently try the door to see if it's locked or stuck. If the others agree, he'll open it fully.

"Ugh, too cautious. Well, nobody was hurt by my inaction."
Storn stomps up to stand a little behind Herman, watching the door intently.

Xeno nod to Herman and then will start a more detailed look around the room to see what it was once used for and if anything of worth is left behind. She'll finish by taking a closer look at the creature.

This cramped chamber stinks of something worse than rotten eggs. A black mildew covers the walls and the three doors that lie beyond the entrance. Each has a small metal slot at its bottom, but the latched covers long ago rusted away.
You can see that the door and hinges have deteriorated from the mold.

"Ugh! That smell is awful! These look like cells over here. But there not locked anymore. I wonder if there's something dead or undead in there. Maybe one of you strong types ought to go in first?"
Herman takes a step back so he can breathe easier and to allow one of the big burly guys to take the lead.

Amaruu regards Herman. "Strength comes in many forms, not just size. However, I understand your meaning." Amaru draws his second blade again and steps behind Menas "I will enter by your side."

Storn grips his holy symbol as Menas and Amaruu slip into the corridor. He remains in place.
"If there is as much undeath as promised, something foul must have happened here. Most corpses don't rise of their own regard."

Herman nods at Amaruu. "You are right, brother, I will choose my words more carefully." "Sheesh that'a serious one..."
As the two allies enter, Herman says craning his neck to see inside:"If something jumps you bring it back out here, where we can all work on it. If there's nothing in there, tell me, 'cuz i really want to see in there."

You find a letter written in Tian. The letter’s paper is brittle and browned with age. Its broken seal features a kirin flying amid three clouds.
You find nothing else of any importance, and as soon as you leave the area you feel better.

Looking through the door Storn grunts at the letter.
"Maybe it's one of those trade things we're supposed to get."
Storn heads to the north of the room to stand beside Dietrich. He holds up his greatsword, the slight spilling into the west exist as he tries to see what lies ahead.

"Could be, Storn, but might be something else altogether. If the jade katana is here, it is reasonable that other things from Tien came also. Unless one of you speaks Tien, we won't know, I guess until we get back to Amara Li."
He shakes his head with uncertainty, and moves off toward the others at the opening into next chamber.

Cracked and crumbling frescos line the walls of this large empty room. The sections of the frescos not destroyed by the passing ages show Qadiran men engaged in battle. A rough stone tunnel leads off to the northwest, as if the ground simply cleft in two ages ago. A pile of bones rests just inside the passage.
This large room once served as a meeting place, entertainment hall, and occasional fighting pit. Now it sees use primarily as the route by which creatures come and go from the dungeon. Many wild animals have laired just inside the narrow tunnel, which was created during the earthquake that destroyed the tower above; the remains of their myriad prey lie in a pile near the exit.

Dietrich retrieves his bow and slings it onto his back. He then grips his axe again and moves into the room, exploring closer to the crevice. Worried about what might dwell here, he tries to keep an eye out for wild animals or monsters.

Storn wanders a little closer to the tunnel, trying to look into the darkness.
"If there's some sort of beast here, I bet it lairs there. Although this is no place for anything living."

"Maybe that strange thing we just killed used this as its lair, can anyone work out what lives here by looking at what ate the flesh off those bones?" Xeno says moving around the room checking each of the exits to the room.

Herman steps 1 square NW and attacks the skeleton with his longsword but in his fear, the blow is clumsy and ineffective.

"Weak as water. I was hoping to beat it with its own leg. Gorum appreciates style. Anything of value here?"

"Well done friend. We'll have to be careful of anything in this place as the walls and piles of bones both come alive."

"I am no expert on scrolls, but I believe we should hold onto a bit longer. If it works the way I think it does, we may be able to read more or even many, different messages at once if we use the scroll later. Just a thought..." Herman is trying to be logical, but is not at all certain or confident on this topic.
As to the direction, Herman says:"I am uncomfortable leaving these unexplored passages in our rear. We shouldn't allow a creature, living or dead, a chance to take us unawares. Let's go East up this hallway first and return to this other passage if necessary."
Herman is indicating the passage to numbers 7-9. Talk him out of it if you like.

Rubbish and black mold choke the far end of the chamber. The slightest movement kicks up dust and spores, choking the stagnant and already foul-smelling air.
