Phyton throws his shoulder into the door and is able to push it open. True to its name, the shrieker begins to emit a high pitched noise as the door moves and the party moves past it.

The shaft deposits you in an alcove at the far end of an antechamber, free of the riotous growths of fungi and mold that choke the shaft and archives above. The simple, clean lines of the basement’s basalt walls give way here to a disturbing, organic style of architecture that makes it seem like you are walking through the gullet of some monstrous behemoth. At the far end of the hall, a large, ornate arch that looks disconcertingly like the beast’s toothed maw stands in the wall, covered by a heavy black curtain with sickly green light from the chamber beyond shining around the edges. A plain iron box sits on the floor in the middle of the room.

"I will be slow, it is warded somehow," the Osirian woman says, moving forward cautiously scanning the area for potential traps and hazards. Once at the chest she studies it for a couple of minutes careful not to touch it searching for traps.

If it is trapped and/or locked, and I can't just take 20.

Sighing she carefully removes her armour, clearly not happy about doing so and removes a lacquered box which proves to be filled with picks and wires. She then casts guidance on herself, and turning back to the group says,

Legalistic curse gives me +4 to a d20 roll I make once per day while trying to fulfill a promise made to another individual. I am not a big fan of ACP applying to disable device, but it does hence the removal of armour, etc.

The box does not appear to be locked but when Omorose moves to open it, something inside the box emits a high-pitched alarm (as if the shrieker weren't enough) and dozens of diminutive spiders escape into the room!

Thanks for the confirmation. The +1 is for PBS. However 2*1.5 = 3, unless the splash damage of 1 counts since the swarm is so large that I can aim for a certain square and the splash hits itself.

Omorose sets some of the spiders on fire and Jaysin tosses an alchemist's fire into the mix. Meanwhile, Random is busily cutting down the curtain to the next room.

The walls and ceiling of this chamber bulge outward, continuing the grotesque architectural style of the antechamber, as if you were standing in the leviathan’s stomach. Queer, glowing nodules protrude from the walls at seemingly random intervals, bathing the room in their sickly green glow. A tall, free-standing, almost organic-looking archway carved from a strange, glowing blue-green stone stands atop a low dais in a wide alcove at the far end of the chamber. The center of the arch is empty, revealing the wall behind it, but the space occasionally flickers with curtains of starry darkness, as if somewhere else lies just beyond the portal. A susurrus of ghostly whispers seem to issue from the gate, their language and meaning unclear, but fraught with a sense of wrongness.

Imrizade Blakros stands on the dais before the arch, connected to the Gate of Beyond-specifically a small metal cylinder at the crown of the arch-by five disgusting, fleshy, fungoid umbilicals attached to her hips, shoulders, and the base of her skull. She is half-Osirian, with long, dark hair and light brown skin, wearing a weathered explorer’s outfit. Her eyes are completely black, showing no iris or whites. A zombie joins the Blakros woman.

Not wanting to get closer to the spiders then necessary, Nari skirts along the wall, trying to get a view of the zombie advancing on them.

"I have had enough of all these horrible things." She screams, leveling her crossbow and firing at the zombie.

I didn't explicitly state that I loaded my crossbow when we dropped down, but seems like it would be a reasonable assumption when she commented about the box. I would understand if you say my crossbow was unloaded, in which case my action would be move to where I am now on roll20, and move action to load crossbow, ignoring the below dice.

No, I usually assume people reload things like crossbows in between combat. Same with gunslingers reloading with bullets between combats.So you're fine.

Seeing the scene in the next room and knowing that a swarm of spiders is not something he can take down, Manzcar move to get closer to the zombie in the next room while drawing his sword.

I think the swarm should have a total of 10 damage, 6 from Omorose's burning hands and 4 from the alchemist's fire. It looks like the 1.5 multipliers were left off.

As Random reveals the room beyond, his gaze fixes on the woman. Ah, we found Blackros! He then turns back to the problem at hand. He moves back to stand over his bow, curtain in tow. He drops his sword next to his bow, and takes the curtain in both hands. "Get out of the spiders!"

Ready action to throw the curtain over the spider swarm after the party moves out of them. If it looks like it works to hold them down, he yells out, "Stomp on them!" GM, sorry to try something so unconventional. Feel free to roll anything for me that you think necessary.

Swarm made the Ref against burning hands to make it 2, then times 1.5 becomes 3. Jaysin used alch fire, which did 3*1.5 = 4. So that's 7 damage total. But they should have taken another 1d6 on their turn from the alch fire. Sound right to everyone?

As Random reveals the room beyond, his gaze fixes on the woman. Ah, we found Blackros! He then turns back to the problem at hand. Seeing another flare of fire scatter the remaining spiders back to the darkest corners of the room, however, he's left to toss aside the curtain dejectedly. Hmm... I hope that curtain wasn't an antique. He then turns to the next problem at hand. He steps forward a bit, beginning to circle around the zombie. He cautiously takes a distracting swing at the zombie, to help lower its defenses for Manzcar, who clearly needs all the help he can get.

Fighting defensively, aid another to give Manzcar +3 to his next attack, Random's AC is now 17: 1d20 + 0 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 0 - 4 = 15

Double-move. If she's unarmed, Random will move one square more onto the dais, to be beside her, to flank her if Manzcar can get on the opposite side.

Any hints on the nature of the connection with a perception or some knowledge check? Mostly wondering if cutting the connections would harm her. Random has kn: dungeon and nature at +6 each.


The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Random moves up next to the Blakros girl. He notices that she is currently unarmed (but wears a rapier) and that the tendril seem to go into her body, likely connecting with (and taking over) her brain. They ultimately come from a small metal cannister at the top of the arch (about 15 feet up).
