Ragnar climbs up and down the cliff faces, helping everyone down and then back up. He removes and then secures the rope on the far end. Once the rope is available, Kalkamedes grabs it and begins hauling himself up without any issue. The rest of the group follows him up and then resumes their positions following the sleepwalker.

Kalkamedes continues through the mountainous area. Great bands of stars sweep across the cloudless night sky, illuminating a series of game trails that chase through the mountain shrubs and berry bushes.

Suddenly, a huge roar erupts from the bushes. A black bear stands on its hind legs, roaring at the group. Kalkamedes has no reaction and continues to walk forward.

Perception DC 15:

You see two small forms darts across the path. They looked like cubs.

Over the course of another two hours, the rough, mountainous scrubland gradually flattens and gives way to thicker copses of trees sustained by a series of chilly, narrow streams. Kalkamedes’s trail meanders northward.

You're entering an area controlled by a group of bandits known as The Gorgon's Privateers. They are not particularly special, just a common group of thugs that like to ambush travelers.

The bandit near Ragnar, Lemore and Draylan decides to stay in the cover of the trees and fires a stone at Draylan, but he ducks it easily. The one near Marius still seems to be recovering from the mage's spell. The other two, however, see the sleepwalking Kalkamedes and the small Renli and decide to take advantage of him. They rush out to surround Renli and swing at him with maces. Renli sidesteps one attack, but only to walk right into the other one. The halfling goes down with blood on his head.

Arrows and spells fly from Lemore, Ragnar, and Marius. The trees manage to foul up Ragnar's and one of Lemore's shots, but the bandit is struck with an arrow and Marius' spell. He groans in pain.

Meanwhile, Kalkamedes continues to sleepwalk, completely obvious to the battle raging around him. As he moves, though, one of the bandits lashes out at him with his mace. He smacks the ex-Paladin in the head, but Kalkamedes only stumbles forward and continues his walk.

Frustrated with the impressive tactics the bandits are using, Draylan drops his trusty guisarme. Moves to the bandit between him and Kalkamedes, draws his flail and attacks.

"You weaklings are hindering my ability to perform my duties. This will NOT stand! Have at you!"

Draylan trips the bandit near him, depositing him onto his backside. Vardel does the same, however in a much more bloody way. The lance punches right through the man and as he falls, Furrious tramples on his legs, giving several large crunches.

Seeing their friend impaled and the ambush clearly falling to pieces, the two bandits in the brush hurl their slings again, but then quickly retreat shouting, "Run! They've got a Knight AND a Wizard!" The one sprawled at Draylan's feet tries to follow his friends, leaving all thoughts of defense aside. The stones strike both Ragnar and Lemore.

Hearing the cries of the badits and their call for retreat, Vardel is only further encouraged. He has no intention of letting them escape. Furrious senses the fear and sets off after the nearest, the wolf's powerful and nimble legs bringing the knight closer to his victim, his lance leading the way. "Surrender or die" he calls out as engages the bandit.
