Renli uses the wand on Kalkamedes and he begins walking like the stumble never happened. He continues his way north, and the group follows. About an hour later, he approaches a thicket. Those near him or in front see clusters of thorns on the branches. It stretches 40 feet wide and seems to extend about 60 feet.

Knowledge (Nature) or Survival DC 18:

This is Razor Bramble. It's easily capable of lacerating your legs if you choose to walk through it. Armor or other protection will help some.

Survival DC 25:

You see signs that someone has trampled through here about a week or two ago.

Also, can I get an idea of marching order?

I'm happy being whereever people want me though it makes sense to have someone with good perception in front. Furrious has decent perception so I"m not going to have too much of an issue. Also it helps me setup my charges better. Though Renli will be able to spot traps if he is in front.

"That doesn't look a particularly friendly bit of shrubbery, though I wonder how bad it could be. Perhaps we could wade our way through chopping as we go." Vardel wonders out lound.

"No, no it certainly does not. Think we can slow him down enough to cut a path? I'm not sure I have anything that can help with that to be honest."

Marius would stay towards the middle back area, probably close to Kalkamedes.

I'm going to add a little structure to this so we don't bog down too much again. We'll do this in rounds with initiative just to keep things focused, but you don't need to wait on others to post an action. You have 1 round before Kalkamedes gets to the thornbushes. You're welcome to try anything you want.

Vardel rides upto the bramble and drawing his longsword in his right, he starts to hack away at it.

Looking over his shoulder Vardel notices Draylan and says "Good thinking. Keep him down, keep him safe. Though it's probably kinder to just pin him down though."

Draylan, your AOO from him standing would go off while he's still prone. However, you can position yourself so he provokes when he tries to move.

Renli Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Renli and Vardel nearly clear another 5 foot section, but a stubborn vine still blocks the path. Fortunately, Draylan is keeping Kalkamedes from getting very far, as he is able to bring down the man again.

Ok, if this is the general strategy, I can make rolls and speed this along. Is anyone wanting to use any other resources? Marius, let me know if you want to use another spell. Otherwise, I'll assume no other resources used and you'll try to hack your way through it. Depending on if Draylan is able to keep Kalkamedes down, then you should be able to get through most of it. FYI, the brambles have 10 HPs and 2 hardness.

I'll give Draylan 2 trip attempts per round for his normal action and an AOO for Kalkamedes moving. He's already rolls enough to keep him down for another 3 rounds. While Vardel, Ragnar, and Lemore hack at the brambles, Draylan puts on a clinic with his polearm. He neatly and deftly puts Kalakamedes onto the ground each time he gets up to move. It takes a minute for the trio to cut their way through the thorns and soon after the party is able to walk through the small path cut into the bush. Kalkamedes, now allowed by Draylan to walk again, moves at his stumbling pace through the thorny bush and continues north.

After another hour, Kalkamedes suddenly turns to the west. He quickly ventures into a bog. Draylan is able to stop him long enough for Renli to come up with an improvised raft of dead logs. You hold Kalkamedes tight to the logs, but as long as his body can kick under the water, he doesn't seem to fight you. Drenched with muck, he climbs out to higher ground on the other side.

He continues westward through foothills and into a steep mountain pass that climbs several hundred feet. The surface levels out only to terminate fifty feet ahead with a precipitous drop into a thirty-foot wide canyon. If not stopped, he will walk right over the edge.

It's about 30 feet across and 70 feet down. There's no way around.

I'm going to say you all can use the rope tied to Kalkamedes to help you get down the cliff. That reduces it to a DC 5 check, which everyone auto-succeeds. Pick one person to make the DC 18 check unaided (for untying and carrying the rope down. Then someone make a DC 18 check again to climb up the other side and secure the rope and we're done with this.

If that was confusing, here's what I need: 2 DC18 Climb checks, but not necessarily by the same person.
