So, just to make sure that I have this straight for accounting purposes, you're all taking a rest right now and two of you (August and Telion) are spending a resolve point to regain SPs?
Also, Telion, how do you want to use your amp of lesser restoration (as gifted by August)?
Telion of Castrovel |
Sorry, yup, I'll spend a resolve and take the amp.
After the amp I should just be sickened, but no other negative effects, correct?
GM Dinketry |
Telion, I posted the effects of lesser restoration above. Read it and tell me what you’d like to do.
GM Dinketry |
Apologies. I do have Telion and August's totals wrong. I've updated my Life Points totals post in the Gameplay thread.
Telion, would you please tell me what effects the lesser restoration spell gives you? Specifically, would you please roll the 1d4 for your ability score healing?
GM Dinketry |
Ok, I've gone back to June 12th (that's when Telion and August levelled up) and totalled all of the damage that you've taken since then.
Of note, when you level up, I rule that you get the SP and HPs right away, but there was still damage present to both August and Telion at that point. I've now updated both of you as having taken a 10 minute rest and a RP to restore all of your SPs. Your totals should be accurate.
GM Dinketry |
Jaxom and Diamaante have just levelled up!
Wanna roll for hit points? Tell us what you get, tell us what you get!
I'll await new character sheets emailed to me from the two of you, please: we.be.dunedinpfs@gmail.com
Yay!

Hey folks, it seems that we might be back after a lengthy website outage.
I'm keen to get you guys to (at least) the end of this module. Would the four of you let me know that you're still interested?
Thanks,
Your GM
Aren’t we just about done with book 1 and quitting at that point?
Why bother leveling up if we’re about done? Press on and let’s finish this!
GM Dinketry |
If that is how you and Diamaante would like to play it, then I am fine to press on. I’d like to hear Diamaante’s opinion first, however.
Diamaante |
I'll still level up to make sure I can survive the last few encounters! Will work on my character sheet later this morning and post here, plus e-mail you a copy.
Diamaante |
Sheet updated in my alias. +5 SP, +6 HP, +1 BAB, +1 Fort.
Feats: Great Fortitude, Weapon Specialization
Expertise Talent: Slick Customer
I will e-mail you the sheet later, GM.
Jaxom "Exo-G" Sandstrom |
Ok, I updated Jaxom. I'm using the Hero Lab Online, so I exported his BBCode, and inserted it into my profile here, and then I made appropriate changes to my various roller code thingies.
GM Dinketry |
Holo-tattoo of Diamaante, eh, Jaxom? I only just noted that.
Could you send me an email with your level 3 character, please?
Thanks.

So, as I interpret this, you went to my profile, and read it, but you need me to cut and paste it into an email and send it to you.
No problem.
Telion of Castrovel |
Sorry guys, I've been having a hard time finding time to post in my online games. I'll endeavor to be more vigilant so I don't leave you guys hanging.
Jaxom "Exo-G" Sandstrom |
Correct me if I’m wrong, Jaxom, but you’ve only got one more those, right?
As requested, I am correcting you! I can technically do this 3 more times.
I have 1 more level 1 spell slot today.
I can also power it up with my spell cache once, you know, the tattoo of Diamaante.
And then, I can, as a move action, so I will only get 2 missiles that time, power the spell once using one of my full batteries due to my 2nd level Magic Hack.
So, I can put out another 8d4+8 damage over the next 3 rounds, but after that, I'm back to the crappy pistol.

Ok, folks, we've limped our way to the end of Book One. I'll sort out chronicle sheets and pass them off to everyone via email (if you could provide that to me here). It appears to me that this adventure has lost some of its lustre for some of you, so I'll step aside at this point and thank you all for playing this first book of the first Starfinder AP with me - it was fun.
I hope you find glory out there in the stars. In answer to your question, you will all receive 3 XP, 5 Reputation, and 5 Fame for completing this book. The Reputation points you receive need to be applied to the Faction Champion boon that each of you possesses.
Idar may be brought back from death if you want to collect his body and return it to Absalom Station. Doing so would provide Ross (Idar's player) with a chronicle sheet for this adventure as well. Unfortunately, the cheapest option (raise dead) is a 5th level spell and costs 9000 credits. That would completely wipe out the party funds that you'd receive from your chronicle (each of you get 2160 credits), and you'd need to find an additional 360 credits. Of course, you don't have to do that, either, and there's absolutely no judgment from me about what you decide as a group to do.
I'll work on your chronicle sheets and send them off to you as I receive your emails. I again thank you all for exploring Absalom Station with me. Live long and prosper.

D'oh!
Thanks for the game, GM. It was fun, though I do agree that things kind of lost their steam after Ross left. Part of the reason on my end were my additional familial obligations, but another part of it is the Starfinder system. I love the setting and our characters, but the rules just seem to be lacking the fun factor. At level 3, my character is still only doing 1d4 or 1d6 points of damage and missing with 90% of my attacks. To be fair, I didn't build my character for combat, but even with a higher Dex my attacks would only be 1 or 2 points higher.
Maybe I need to try a different class like soldier.
At any rate, thanks again for the enjoyable game. Perhaps our paths will cross again in the future. :D

I haven't heard from any of the rest of you about day job checks and I now have all of the chronicles completed. I'm sending them out right now and we're all done here.
This thread will be deactivated by the end of the day today. I'll see some of you out in the Diaspora, I'm sure.
All the best,
GM Dink

Having DM'd a tabletop group through to Book 5 in Dead Suns I will tell you that lower levels are very frustrating and some mobs/bosses will be way more challenging than others.
I do feel they need to do some more optimization for combat but a lot of it depends on us using the rules correctly - for example using harrying fire to lower target AC on top of "Get 'Em" or using cover/partial cover more often.
Around 7 to 9 your damage starts to skyrocket. I have a Blitz soldier in my game who adds +17 to a 2d10 axe. I hate that guy.
Telion of Castrovel |
I had a lot of fun with this game and especially this group. I agree a bit with Diamaante that the system seems to make you feel a bit inept, even at the things your class is expected to be good at, which is pretty similar to my complaint about 5E. The group made this game really memorable though, and I'm sorry my post rate took a nose dive after work blocked access to paizo.com.
Perhaps I'll see you guys around someday when I can have a more reliable post rate.
Thanks again Dink :D
