The chart tells you that the red car (you) and the black car (Ratrod) are leading the race, neck and neck. The green car and the orange car are neck and neck with each other a full length behind. You’ve no clue who is driving those vehicles because you didn’t choose to do any reconnaissance work as a pre-race action, though you shouldn’t have trouble deducing it based on the dialogue in the Gameplay thread.
Lemgem (purple) and the blue car are not listed as they are no longer in the race.

Both armors are an upgrade for Idar. I'm not really worried about armor check penalties for him.
So if Idar is the one who is going to be wearing it, I'd say the graphite.
But Telion might need better armor more urgently, since he tends to get in close. I don't know if he's concerned about the armor check penalty or Bulk cost of graphite armor over freebooter.

Telion of Castrovel |

I'm currently wearing kasatha microcord, so the graphite would just be a straight +1 upgrade to both ACs with no downside.
The charge cloak is pretty cheap, so we can buy one ourselves if we decide we want it.
How long is the adamantine cable? 1 unit worth (so 10 ft)?
What specialty is the engineering kit? I already bought a standard engineering kit so I can use the skill, but the specialty one gives +2 to a specific use of the skill.
Overall, best value is probably going to be the armor since we'll definitely get some use out of it.

Good questions, Telion.
1) The adamantine cable is 20 feet - 2 units' worth.
2) The specialty engineering toolkit is for weaponsmithing.

I love the image of Diamaante on the comm device with Radszam, putting him on hold, completing the mission off-handedly (with a roll of 30), and then completing her call with her faction leader like it ain't no big deal.
"You gotta get...dat...dirt off yo shoulders..."

![]() |

#1) Diamaante hasn't even BOTHERED to roll the two skill checks on offer (though I know she could do the Sense Motive skill check with her eyes closed). Confident? Yeah.
#2) I think we've discovered Diamaante's "catch phrase".

Leaving the racetrack, Idar presents his allies with the gift certificate. "Suppose we go shopping, yes?"
Not quite sure what "Diamond Defense and Surplus" ('surplus' is delightfully vague) but it's good to have more places to buy equipment.
Maybe we can buy August's crafting kit?

Telion of Castrovel |

If they've got it available, it should cover it. We should pick up a armorcrafting kit as well some time so we can build our own equipment when we're away from civilized lands.

Not the star of "Blue Nebula"! Surely someone who was the female leadin a movie about shipwrecked teenagers 'discovering' themselves on an idyllic but abandoned tropical planet would be the very pillar of morality!

Would anyone like to use my old kasatha microcord, or should I sell it to a second-hand shop when we have chance?

Would anyone like to use my old kasatha microcord, or should I sell it to a second-hand shop when we have chance?
It's not an upgrade for Idar (dex limit), but it seems like most of us are still wearing 'second skins', so I'm sure it's an upgrade for somebody.
And if we buy an armorsmithing kit, August can make the adjustments.

Telion of Castrovel |

Turns out they sell the sleeves separately and are specially designed to integrate to the armor where ever you attach them. Makes it easier to accomodate 2, 4 or 7 armed creatures without having to carry a million different sizes.
More serious side note: Anyone notice that all of the pictures of armor in the armor description section are for 2 armed humanoids? Even kasatha microcord which should definitely support kasatha body types.

Telion of Castrovel |

Now I'm just trying to imagine what situation August would consider "just in case" and if we would still be alive and in the blast radius.

Are we working with a different form of telepathy than's listed in the CRB? Per p 265:
Telepathy
A creature with the telepathy special ability can mentally communicate with any other creature within a certain range (specified in the creature’s description, though the range of telepathy is usually 100 feet) that knows a language.
It is possible to address multiple creatures at once telepathically, although maintaining a telepathic conversation with more than one creature at a time is just as difficult as simultaneously speaking and listening to multiple people at the same time.
Limited Telepathy
Limited telepathy functions in the same manner as telepathy, except that both the creature with the limited telepathy special ability and the creature it is communicating with must have a language in common.
As written it indicates "speaking and listening" which means that unless Telion is just shouting thoughts into August's head Telion can hear a return thought over the telepathic link since Telion and August share a language.

The wording in the CRB is poor, full stop. There are currently three different threads in the Rules question forum asking this very same question. An FAQ is desperately needed here, but until then, my ruling is that people without telepathy/limited telepathy cannot respond telepathically to those who do.

Out of curiosity would a datajack allow me to send text messages to other players for infodumps? And could we get a non-augmentation version like a trode net?

![]() |

Yes, a datajack would allow you to send texts to other players.
No, a datajack requires a power supply to function - if it wasn't attached directly to your central nervous system, there would be little that would discern the difference between a datajack and a computer terminal.
That's how I understand it, but I'm open to discussion.

"Taking 10 on Culture for a 20."
From the Starfinder Core Rulebook:
"When you are not in immediate danger or distracted, the GM might allow you to take 10 on a skill check."
You guys are confronting an enshrouded figure standing at the front door of Jaxom's parents' house, after he told you that his mother was in trouble. August has his hand near the trigger of his weapon; Telion is ready to spring into action, etc. You perceive immediate danger.
Take 10 - NOPE.

![]() |

See, that's why I asked about the trode check - the CRB doesn't say you can brain hack but August, as a character, would not trust anyone to do invasive surgery on him - particularly on his brain.
And could I hook a battery into the trode net like it was a computer or draw power from a commlink/computer itself?

![]() |

It's good to see that my calculations regarding August losing his s&*$ due to the phone call from Astral Extractions were accurate.

![]() |

I'm not saying he's paranoid but he will probably kill everyone and disappear as a matter of principle if his exposure gets worse.
Definitely most likely to live in a abandoned city in Akiton that he spends his days filling with traps.
