Tamarie blocks the doorway to avoid anyone from escaping from that route. Ahrisma moves over to her companion while drawing her weapon to prepare for a fight.
Shoalo continues to sleep on the floor. The bartender moves over to the edge of the bar and casts a spell. As she finishes webs spring forth throughout the tavern trying to ensnare most of the party.
Should be able to see radius on map, basically everyone except Tam and Johendar need to make a Reflex save DC14 or become grappled.
Round 1

"Lord in Iron! I feel like a damn moth!" Olik spits as sticky strands surround and cover him. Pulling at the webbing he attempts to break free but makes little progress.
CMC to break free : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
"Blast these strands! Tamarie don't let those fools go anywhere!" he shouts before letting loose a string of Ulfen curses while continuing to try and break out.
Nice work Tess!

Johender moves up and casts a spell at the bartender. A spray of color erupts from his hand as he points at the gillwoman.

Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Tamarie readies her bow to attack the bartender if she goes to cast another spell, while Johendar simply puts her out of action as a spray of bright and varrying colors wash over the bartender. She staggers a bit holding one arm out to try and get a bearing while holding the other over her eyes.
Stunned and blinded for 2 rounds
Malik and Jirani are left.

Malik whispers, Mother help me and there is a strange sibilant sound. He struggles against the webs but is unable to move.

Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Let's see how long this luck lasts...
Still eyeing the bartender, Jirani is not caught unawares by her web. He slowly moves through the webbing toward the nearest edge, drawing his dagger as he does so. He hurls the dagger at the bodyguard as he exits the sticky terrain, but his aim is well off.
CMB to move: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 2 = 5 ...and there it goes.
| GM Dak |
Malik sticks in the webing unable to get out while Jirani manages to avoid most of the strands and manuever his way out. Throwing a dagger at Ahrisma, but missing wildly. Ahrisma takes some time to wake up Shoalo from his magical slumber and then continues to move for the door.
Shoalo now awake stands up and makes for the door as well working to open it. The bartender continues to stand there trying to regain her sight.
Round 2
Party then Ahrisma.
Olik Vogenson

The string of Ulfen cursing continues to emanate from somewhere within the webbing as Olik tries to free himself.
CMC to break free : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
The strands strain under the bards efforts but continue to hold.
Jirani Kafr Abdu

Shoalo, the small one in green at the door, has the relic. It takes a move action to open a door, right? Do these doors close automatically (swinging doors) or would it take another action for them to close it behind them?
Jirani moves closer to the retreating thieves, drawing his longsword.
Move action to move 30 ft. Standard action to ready an action to follow them outside, if they leave the door open, or to move to the door if it closes behind them.
And among other questions, if a character readies an action for an event that becomes moot, like Tam readying an action for a spell being cast, and then the enemy spellcaster becomes incapacitated, can the character change his/her action at that point and change their initiative, as if they had delayed instead?
Tamarie Yangrit
|
1° I don't believe so, concerning the readied action. I set up a "trigger" to complete my round, but if the trigger never happens my action is null and void, and we reach my initiative again in the following round.
2° I can't access my pc yet as the light of the screen is too bright, so I'm posting this on my tablet (thank you IPS mode) but can't get to roll20 on this thing. I am assuming I'm still standing in front of the door, as I closed it in the surprise round, right? They would have to get past me, in order to get outside, am I right?
3° Yes you always get a fort/ref/will save, even though you are blinded, dazed, stunned, unconscious, etc etc. It can sometimes represent sheer luck of standing in the right spot, I reckon :)
I'll hold my action until someone describes me where Tamarie is, in relation to the door, if you don't mind :)

Tess uses her Sleep hex on the bartender.

Olik Vogenson

Opening or closing a door is a move action (doesn't provoke though) so since both of them are at the door one could open it and move out their speed and the other could step outside and close it (remaining just on the other side of the door).
As to Readied actions, if the trigger doesn't happen you lose the action. Readying is different from delaying as you can only ready a standard action and it interrupts the action that triggers it (so Tam would have shot before a spell was cast). A delayed action is just you waiting to take your initiative until a later time. You need to use it between other peoples initiative and so it doesn't interrupt what they are doing.
Jirani I don't recall where you were to start this round but could you have just charged them?
Tam from where you are standing now your near the door but not blocking it. The bodyguard is in the square SW of you and the relic carrier is in the adjacent southern square to her. Both of them are adjacent to the doors. If you want to shoot you could 5' step East and do so (I suggest the relic carrier :).
Tamarie Yangrit

Good call Olik!
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 = 21 >> 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3
Tamarie moves slightly, aware that she can't hold the door on her own and draws the bow, nocks the arrow and aims for the temple of the one stealing the relic. She hits, but the shot barely grazes.
| GM Dak |
Olik tries one again to free himself from the webbing, but has no luck. Jirani moves up readying to follow the gillmen out the door. Johendar pulls out a wand sending a ball of force to hit Shoalo. Tessara tries her hex, now on the already blind and stunned bartender.
Will: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 4 - 2 = 22
It doesn't appear to have any effect. Tamarie moves back and takes a shot at Shoalo dropping him as the arrow pierces through his heart. Malik also continues to struggle with the webs, still not able to move. Ahrisma, grabs the relic from Shoalo's body and opens the door.
Shoalo lays on the floor bleeding out while the bartender, starting to get her bearing and her sight returning gets ready to continue her attack.
Round 3
Party up!
Also as Tam noted readying is a do or lose. And yes opening the door is a move action. :)

With a mighty effort Olik manages to break free of the webbing holding him in place. Huffing from the exertion he starts to make his way towards the edge of the web but is quickly fouled up in it again.
Sigh...one step at a time I suppose. :)
Jirani Kafr Abdu

I had started north of the left-most waiter, so I couldn't charge, but I think I can this round. I'll be moving diagonally, but there are no obstacles, and it's 15 feet. Nevermind, I forgot an ally would be an obstacle to a charge.
Jirani moves to the bodyguard, swinging his longsword with a powerful 2-handed stroke.
Power attack (-1 power attack, -1 buckler): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage (+1 str for 2-handed, +3 power attack: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 + 3 = 8
AC is 15 this round.
Tamarie Yangrit

You can always shout to the ally to move prior to charging? :)
Assuming Jirani didn't slice and dice Ahrisma:
(otherwise Tam will move up and choose a new target, obv)
PBS: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23>>1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
"STOP!!" Tamarie shouts as loud as she can.
| GM Dak |
Jirani steps up and brings down his blade with a hard strike on Ahrisma. She goes down and bleeds out halfway in the tavern and halfway outside. Tamarie turns to the bartender and yells at her while loosing an arrow. The arrow pierces through her side, but she still manages to stay up.
Just Tam left I think before the bartenders turn

Tess has just about done all she can do in this one. She will simply try and escape the strands this round.
Escape Artist 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Still stuck in the webbing Tess continues to struggle but to no avail. The bartender having her sight return sees the state of affairs and quickly turns to cast a spell. Suddenly the fish tank shatters as shards of glass fly about and the contents spill out into the ocean below. The bartender moves to jump down into the hole into the ocean.

After the bartender retreats, Jirani stoops to collect the relic from Ahrisma's body. He helps cut through the webbing to free Mr. Rees, and Olik and Malik if they continue to have trouble. He returns the relic to Rees when he's free. "Did you know who you were supposed to meet? Was this them or were they impersonators?"
| GM Dak |
Rees nods "This is them... though there was no mention of the thrid." He motions to where the bartender had been. "Perhaps someone got to them and convinced them of some other plan." He takes the relic and packs it away. "Even though we did not get a new relic in trade, thank you for at least stopping them from taking our true relic! I should report this to the Gillman Embassy, I think the rest of you should finds means to return to the society and report what you have found, I'm sure you can easily find a ship to take you back to Absalom."
Jirani Kafr Abdu
|
"I think we would like to accompany you to the Embassy, at least."
Assuming Rees meets with an appropriately influential gillman, Jirani takes the opportunity to pass on Lady Morilla's letter, with a deep bow. "We will leave Mr. Rees in your care along with this missive we had been asked to deliver during our journey. Please review it at your convenience - I'm told it is unrelated to the mission that brought us here. Mr. Rees, we will return to Absalom as you suggest. It has been an honor to share your adventure."
Tamarie Yangrit
|
Tamarie will run to where the gillman has jumped down, and start peering into the murky water, her bow at the ready and the tension in the string continuously draining her string as she refuses to let her escape.

"Well, I guess we sort of succeeded in the mission, didn't we? I wish we could have caught that no good gillman, but we can't always be perfect, I suppose."
Malik Jiri
|
Once freed of the webs and his sight has come back, Malik, with a slightly annoyed expression on his face, says "Well, yes we did. I wish I'd spent less time strung up like a fly and could have been of more use to you all." he says.
| GM Dak |
@Jirani
Accompanying Rees you pass of the letter to the embassador. He opens and looks over it briefly with a slight chuckle before nodding his head in thanks. As you depart you hear Rees lay into the embassador about the recent events who promptly denies any knowledge of the events and acctually seems offended by the suggestion of their involvement.
@TheTavern
The bartender never ends up resurfacing, gods only know how long she can stay under water, what with gills and all. The webbing eventually dissapates and some of the patrons return to tavern. One of the owners gives you all a stern look as you head out of the tavern and sends for the mortician to do something with the bodies.
@Absalom
On your retrun you report back to Ambrus Valsen who, while disappointed in the lack of a new artifact is thankful for your work in protecting the true relic and seeing Rees to Escadar safely. He notes that you should all take some time to yourselves as he is sure there will be many more missions to come.
