Carried over from the S&S recruitment.
25pt buy. Start at 2nd level.
No 3rd party stuff.
Background skills yes.
2 Traits, one from Carrion crown, one of your choice.
No VMC
No stats under 8 or over 18 except for racial adjustment.
Maximum HP at first level. Roll at leveling, or take the average there after.
Any race or class from Paizo source books allowed, but remember you'll be in Ustlav and things get unpleasant for odd looking people. :)
Any other questions let me know.
As this is closed to only those on the S&S thread I think you can talk among yourselves over who wants to be what class?
We'll take as long as everyone needs to get ready, when thats done away we go.
Previous experience with CC is no problem, I do change things to suit my style of gaming.

Cedric Rydell |

Ok, so, here are the 3 main archetypes I was looking at, these two mix no problem,
Blossoming light, which is a large part of what the character is based off of.
and Theologian, which is something I was looking at to maybe add on.
However, I would rather have this archetype Roaming exorcist, which normally I think would not be allowed due to already altering my armor proficiency, however I wanted to ask if you would be ok with it As it is very flavorful match for my background. Not trying to powergame or the like. Both archetypes just really match the background I wrote out. Speaking of the background, if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Here is this character, I haven't changed his crunch just yet as of this post, but his background will remain the same.
hp: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Thanks for doing this! Party-wise, I could be very happy playing just about anything. I'm thinking of having some fun with a TWF paladin gnome using Gnome hooked hammer. Could be pretty awesome and fairly effective damage-dealer. Just a thought so far. Will think some more on it and delve into possible backstories later today.

Whisken de la Monega |

Yes I love arcane as well. If you have a preference, I could go arcane if you want to go melee.
If I do go paladin, caster killer twh paladin is an alternative. Any preferences/feedback?
Rorek: Cleric would be great. That extreme divine spellcasting power is never a bad thing to have on our side. Dhampir inquisitor sounds pretty awesome too.

Xunal |

@ GM_DBH; what would constitute 'odd looking' in Ustalav?
I'm not trying to be flippant.
Just want to know what races would fit best in terms of role-playing.
Would odd-looking be races other than core, or anyone who isn't a human?
I've actually become rather fond of the Bloodrager class.
You got your basic melee character and some arcane bits tossed in.
The skald hybrid class is pretty cool too.
Lotsa fun!
Oh, yes, I'll go for the average HP thing.
Works out about the same as rolling, in the long run

GM_DBH |

@rorek55. To make it clearer for me. You wish to combine the Blossoming light archetype with the Roaming Exorcist?
Or do you wish to combine all three archetypes?
@All. On the subject of races, I believe that if some of the party is human then others can be a different race, I just didn't want to have an all non-human party running around xenophobic Ustlav. :)

Maria Vaduva |

Whisken here. Since Kevin's leaning toward wizard, I'll go two-handed pally to tank damage and saves and deal damage. I was considering going divine paladin but I think that leaves the squishier party members to tank too many hits and saves.
Rorek: If you end up doing a positive-energy cleric, I'll probably go undead scourge. This synergy would be right fun at higher levels. Otherwise I might go normal pally.
All: I'll go human. Let's think a bit about how we're going to cover some skills. I'll cover diplomacy. I think Kevin can cover the knowledge skills pretty well.
Xunal: Can you get intimidate and maybe bluff covered reasonably well?
Rorek: If you go cleric, I'm sure you can nail sense motive for us. I can try to help cover that some too but I'm not going to be great at it.
Some prominent skills I see us missing are survival, stealth, perception, and disable device. Any thoughts?
It looks like we'll have both divine and arcane spellcasting going pretty well and good melee damage. We're going to have to be careful about ranged damage as I don't see us being particularly great at that if the need arises. We'd probably have to rely on magical ranged damage in such a case.
GM: Standard wealth for level 2, I assume?

Magister Gadren-Human Spellsage Wizard.
I'm working on a background where he is an older war wizard from Molthune.
@GM_DBH how do you feel about magic item crafting? I get scribe scroll but wondrous items that kind of thing. Some GMs don't want to deal with it, if so I can accept that.
Gadren has a point in all of the knowledge skills and is picking up perception from a trait.
I'll pick up Knock and scribe some scrolls of it during downtime if we don't end up with someone with disable device... not much I can do about traps though.
If no one ends up picking up disable device but GM_DBH is happy with me crafting I might key a headband of intellect to disable device.

Don't suppose another paladin is possible is it? I've ran in this game, like, 3 times I think? At least three for sure. I only have one pc built for this game. But he's not the smash mouth paladin that Brookside is by any stretch.
You're not gonna take us all for this game are you, DBH? I'm just curious because there were like 10 applicants. Call me crazy but I'd gather you can't take 9 of us. :P
I guess what I'm asking is how many do you plan on taking?
By the way, this is pretty cool of you to do this. Heck of a kind gesture for sure.

Javell DeLeon |

Rorek
Jereru
Kevin O'Rourke 440
Joy
Brookside
Xunal
Javell
Seeing how it looks like there's 7 of us now, since I'm the one with the duplicate class, I'll go ahead and step aside. Seems only right.
I actually do have another pc that would fit the Ustalav vibe but he's a cleric(Another duplicate class). I ran him in Carrion Hill. Although, he's probably the WORST cleric ever. He knows pretty much everything and he can channel but that's about it. He is absolutely useless in battle. And I'm not kidding. He was a blast to play though. And at heart, I'm a power gamer. Go figure! *Shrugs* :)
But hey, if you lose someone at some point in the future(not saying anyone's gonna drop or anything but we all know how RL is - it's a tricky beast) and I'm still around, I'd love a shot as a possible replacement.
You folks have fun!

Cedric Rydell |

Then I'll happily keep Cedric here as my character.
And hey, I won't be useful in battle either unless its vs Undead or chaotic evil peoples. But that makes sense for a kid that hardly ever used armor or a sword.
as a matter of fact, I'll just go ahead and post both the characters and let you guys decide which you would prefer.

Draken Caladran Lorrimar |

This is my inquisitor. Both are mostly finished, however the inquisitor may or may not use a firearm depending on if the GM would be kind to me in regards to the black powder inquisition.
take a read over both and let me know which one you like better.
Also, I assume we are -not- using the elephant in the room feat tax rules?

Jereru |

After revising the books for a full day, and in order to provide some trap fu and decent stealth and perception skills, I am set on building an Inquisitor of Pharasma. He'll take his 1st level as Ranger (Trapper), to represent his days before joining the church and to get Trapfinding. I'm not sure about a decent Inquisitor Archetype, but most probably he'll get the Repose (Souls) Domain.
He'll hopefully have enough skill ranks to max 4 or 5 skills, nice spells and judgements to back up his ranged skills and, being a follower of Pharasma, good reasons to go back to Ustalav and slay some undead.
Just noticed rorek55 posted a ranged Inquisitor too. I thought you were going to be a Cleric. We can talk this out, for sure. Let me know which one you're picking before I build mine, please, in case we don't want class reiteration.

![]() |

I am letting you guys decide which character you would rather play with, the cleric, or the inquisitor as I enjoy the concept of them both.
So, while I don't think 2 inquisitors is bad, I can just as easily go with my cleric depending on what you guys want. I was leaning towards the cleric personally, but only by a very small margin.
so take read over them both and let me know which you like better :P

Maria Vaduva |

@Javell: Stick around for a bit. Let's make sure we get six since attrition tends to happen. An archer paladin, for example, could be awesome in this setting.
@Jereru and Rorek: I think Rorek would prefer to do cleric and I'd be all in favor of that. I'd love to have a cleric behind me, buffing, destroying undead, etc. Javell didn't sound too set on playing his cleric but please correct me if I'm wrong. I think Jereru's inquisitor could fill the traps, stealth, ranged damage role very nicely.
@Kevin: Awesome. Very happy to have a full arcane to bend the laws of physics and make things work our way. Curious to hear GM's stance on wondrous item creation. Maria would be willing to pay you to craft some gear for her as well. But understandable if GM thinks this would get out of hand.

GM_DBH |

@Kevin. I'm happy with people taking crafting feats. There will be enough downtime here and there to get some crafting done.
@Arielle. Jereru is taking a level of Trapper Ranger, a full Ranger would be no problem, as for ranged or melee, whichever you prefer. It looks like the party will not be very squishy. :)

Javell DeLeon |

@Maria: Yeah I'd have no problem running my cleric. It's all good to me. BUT, like I said, he would be absolutely useless in battle. I mean he can channel to harm but that's pretty much the extent of it. I mean, spells will come into play later on, of course, but outside of that, that's it.
But he was a load of fun when I played him. It's this guy: Iozef
And this is my paladin: Morbury Equally as fun to play.
They both presented a challenge of different sorts and that's what made them so enjoyable.
@Jereru: No you don't, Jereru! That need a rogue/inquisitor type - because Rorek is gonna KEEP that cleric, right, Rorek? :) - and a rogue type is just not me, bud. Not for this game anyway. You build him and you roll, dude. It's all good. I've been through the first part a couple times already anyhow. :)
But I'll keep an eye on this just in case. There's a solid six here, I feel, and y'all will be good. :)

Javell DeLeon |

Play the Cleric, Rorek, you know you want too! Somebody's got to be able to heal these clowns er, uh, these cool cats. ;)
Jereru will run the Inquisitor and BAM you're good to go.
Joy's got the Ranger thing covered with favored enemy undead(Yeah I'm obviously just rolling with theme here. I don't really know. That's, of course, if she sticks with Ranger. :P)
And Xunal... go Skald, bro! Those really look kind of cool. :)
Kevin's got the magic blaster covered.
Last but certainly not least, Marie the paladin. Can't have a CC game without one!
Cleric
Inquisitor
Ranger
Skald(?)
Wizard
Paladin
Looks good to me. *Thumbs up* :)

Xunal |

@ Javell: I decided to go for a bloodrager.
Wouldn't want the Paladin and/or Ranger getting lonesome on the front line!
I've been digging round the players' guide for ideas.
Got most of the number crunching bits done.
Just need to do the backstory fluff to fill it out.
It will be a human, though. That much is certain...

Xunal |

@ GM_DBH:
Okay, I have my character, Mishtes, ready for your perusal.
Backstory included.
Let me know if anything needs changing...
Per the players' guide, the Aberrant and Undead bloodlines are good for this AP. But I couldn't decide between the bloodrager, equivlent, so I went fo both, via Crossblooded Rager archetype. For that reason, I made Iron Will the human bonus feat, to compensate for the -2 will save problem, therefore.
I chose TWF with weapons that have decent crits (scimitar and gladius) so I could take more advantage of the first lever staggering strike rage power. I hope. But also armed him with a bardiche, so as not to neglect two-handed 'oomph'.
The brass knuckles and slings are both cheap and portable.
Finally, I bought some potions I think are both thematic and useful.
Thanks!

Maria Vaduva |

Looking good, very, very good. Just fyi, out of character, I'm very appreciative of teammates and will let you guys know how helpful/awesome you're being, e.g. in discussion.
In character, Maria has some serious baggage and is looking to smash evil in the mouth. Hard. She's not super friendly but she cares deeply about law and good.

Mishtes |

@ GM_DBH: thanks! Bloodragers are fun. Their arcane powers make up for not being quite as tough as barbarians.
This will also be the first time I've tried a bloodrager with TWF. All the others I've played excel at two-handed weapons.
It seemed like a nice change of pace, as well as an interesting concept.
@ Cedric: I picked TWF because it looked like a good fit for Staggering Strike.
Feat slots are a bit of premium, though. Picking bloodlines is always a bit of a trick.
And I just couldn't decide which of the two would be best. So I decided on the Crossblooded Rager to mix and match sort of thing.
The -2 WILL penalty is a bit of a bother; but I like a challenge!
@ Maria: thanks. Also out of character, despite having a preference for CN/CG characters, I also like being a team player.
But one who prefers improvising over annoying things like following orders. ;)
I like playing bit of a loose cannon at times; kind of like Obelix, but with way more more brains.
Maria does have that 'smash' concept in common with Mishtes, at least! :D
