According to this FAQ, we should see a manifestation of the spell that targeted Naruhito. I doubt it came from the undead pegasus, so would this now reveal whatever targeted him? Also, can Enora attempt to identify the spell?
Naruhito Ichimonji |
GM, if Naruhito feels great how did you figure that he rushes closer to the floundering gnome. I didn't say that. I just waited to see effect of the spell. If Naruhito feels great then he will go to attack pegasus.
Naruhito moves closer to pegasus and attacks.

Heilsteinn |
Noble flying horse has become Flying Ick-Hoof. So sorry about your friend. We will at least put to rest so it not have soul stuck in rotting body.
Heilsteinn takes a 5ft step, swift-action enlarges and then readies for an opponent to come within his 20ft reach (anticipating the undead pegasus from an upward angle, but would trigger on any hostile).
GM Cwethan |
Thanks for double checking, Untir, but no spell or SLA was cast; however, Naruhito's move to rescue Dijjit stands...
Heilsteinn, in the future if you're readying an attack, go ahead and put the roll in the spoilers please :)
As Heilsteinn prepares to strike the fallen Pegasus, Dijjit flounders and drops below the waterline. Bravely? Naruhito dives in after her!
Naruhito's rescue seems to be going poorly, however, he clearly just caught a nasty elbow... and then barely avoided another...

Can we see what is attacking Naruhito? If so, what knowledge check can identify?
If Untir can see what is attacking Naruhito
Untir sends the spirit spear flying towards the water being.
spiritual weapon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
He then concentrates on it, moves closer and sends his spirits flying to harass it.

For crying out loud!
Seeing the thrashing on the pond and not much other activity, he calls out, "My friends, perhaps someone could throw out a rope?"

Good call, sorry about that!

additional damage if confirm successful for attack of opportunity: 4d6 + 18 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 2) + 18 = 29
Glancing at the thrashing in the water Heilsteinn asks Is time yet to curse gnome's sudden but inevitable betrayal?
GM Cwethan |
It's not the clearest view, but it sure looks like Dijjit's trying to beat Naruhito to death.
The ghostly spear easily travels through the water, earning a look of dreadful rage from the submerged gnome.

Heilsteinn |
Nodding at Jamir's suggestion, Heilsteinn reaches into his pack to pull out a rope, seeking to make a slip knot that might allow them to pull out Naruhito.
Not sure what actions are required to tie knots as it's normally something I see done out-of-combat. Heilsteinn has 50 ft of silk rope and will volunteer to be the anchor to attach the other end of the rope to. Also don't know if it would be allowed to just have Jivan use TK to attach the rope (hopefully with a slip knot or similar) to Naruhit so we can just yank him out.
GM Cwethan |
Since Jivan has telekinetic finesse I'd be okay with him tying the rope to Naruhito for Heilsteinn to make Drag maneuvers at range.
I figure a standard action next turn should do it.
This time Jivan's bit of copper clouts 'Dijjit' just above the ear. A sort of grunt escapes the water's edge in response.

I had been thinking someone would tie the rope around Jamir, he dives in and grabs Naruhito, and then whoever is holding the rope would pull them both out. But that might require a grapple check which he is unlikely to make, so the telekinetic maneuvers idea is probably better. Jamir will hold until Jivan takes his turn.
Heilsteinn |
Heilsteinn will ready on the rope getting somehow attached to Naruhito and then attempt to yoink him back and drop him on the shore next to Jamir.

Jamir "Hamstring" Montajay |
Jamir claps Jivan on the back as the kineticist loops the rope around the drowning samurai. "Jivan, my friend, that was a remarkable bit of telekinetic legerdemain! Well done!"
When Heilsteinn is unable to pull Naruhito from the pond, the halfling raises an eyebrow and shakes his head. "If you were not able to drag him from the depths, Heilsteinn, I do not believe I am likely to succeed. But being unlikely is not the same as being impossible, so I must try!"
With that, Jamir steps up to the rope, spits on his hands and rubs some dirt into them, then grabs the rope and pulls with all of his might.

Jamir "Hamstring" Montajay |
Not going to trust that halfling luck a second time. If Heilsteinn (or anyone with a better CMB than Jamir) wants to take a second try, Jamir will roll to aid. If not, Jamir will probably try again on his own but that may depend on how other actions resolve.
