I have a knifemaster I'm even a little embarrassed to improve to unchained, because it will deal too much damage...

Those skill powers are no big deal, but having another free feat always helps.

Gobbo!

My wife loves finding traps, so she would never go for knife master.

However, Scout only gives up up uncanny dodge, and she felt she could live with that.

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

Everyone is going to hate us gnomes by the end of the first scene, I think.

Gobbo!

Yea, I think I can see the gnomes both being tied to Tree before anything starts with the auction!

Gobbo!

Technically Tree can speak all the languages I can as an eidolon, but I prefer to imagine him speaking only in the Treant language. :)

As long as he can say "I am Tree" as much as possible, I will be happy :P

LOL... that's a different game I'm in!

Yea, it stunk having to pass on Racket and Grok for my Giantslayer game. If I wouldn't have been dealing with so many returning players from my Kingmaker game I would have had many more options!

Sadly, since we started we've already lost three of those returning players and one of the new ones. What started as a big party of 7 is now a party of 5 with two players not a part of the original selection process.

Such is the nature of many PbP games though. People start off hot and sizzle out really fast sometimes.

Gobbo!

Are you all good with where you stand? I don't want to push forward too quickly, but I don't want you to be waiting on me either.

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

Quarick is fine!

Male Human

Fine as well. I am liking the interactions as the characters get to know each other a little. :-)

It may be generally less useful, but c'mon, Hanz has to have access to the spell-stealing ranger traps via the Trap subdomain. They could be awesome! :P

I'm all set--happy to keep RPing, but Hanz is good with the assignments.

Ready when you are.

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

Roll 20 link does not work, says I am not authorized.

You need the join link, GM.

Gobbo!

Let me take a look. There's actually nothing loaded there yet.

Gobbo!

Give it a shot now :)

Gobbo!

I just want to say that anyone who scheduled 6 hours of meetings in an 8 hour work day should be flogged. I was slammed yesterday and it stunk! :)

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

Link works now, although it is just a giant picture of the Starstone, correct?

Gobbo!

Correct, at this point we aren't in a tactical map.

Female Human Skald (Ancestral Warrior) 2 -- HP 20 : AC 17 CMD 15 TAC 14 FAC 13 : F+5 R+4 W+3 : INIT+6 Perception+5

Here is my planned progression, at least through level 15. Insight or comments are welcome. This is my first time playing with a character using the new psionics ruleset, so I thought that a bit of research would help me in making prudent advancement choices.

1- F Weapon Focus, F Weapon Finesse, F Wild Talent, F Slashing Grace
2- F Piranha Strike (replaces blade skill)
3- F Two-Weapon Fighting
4- B Full Enhancement
5- F Agile Maneuvers
6- B Dual Imbue
7- F Improved Two-Weapon Fighting
8- B Fire Blade
9- F Improved Critical
10- Nimble Blade Class Feature (replaces blade skill)*
11- F Greater Two-Weapon Fighting
12- B Improved Enhancement
13- F Critical Focus
14- B Reaper's Blade
15- F Blinding Critical

*This class feature allows me a free slot to use any blade skill whose prerequisites I meet.

Gobbo!

Had to stop at a dramatic pause and get some actual work done this morning. Continuance to follow :)

Gobbo!

I direct your attention to the Roll20 map. Please make sure you arrange yourself in whatever location you are presently at. Remember, 2 at the auction area, 2 near the higher profile guests, 2 at the door.

When you have done so please check in here. Thanks! :)

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

I'm on a business trip and on a old laptop. 'My current browser is not supported'. I can access it fine at home. Can someone put Quarick in the middle of the crowd somewhere? I'd hate to hold it up till tomarrow night (when I get back).

Female Human Skald (Ancestral Warrior) 2 -- HP 20 : AC 17 CMD 15 TAC 14 FAC 13 : F+5 R+4 W+3 : INIT+6 Perception+5

It appears I can only move my own icon. Sorry.

Gobbo!

@Quarick - I moved you to a central position relative to the general crowd.

Went ahead and moved Hanz over to the other side of the elite crowd, to balance out Jonas. (And moved him slightly closer to the ropes...)

Male Human

I am fine with where Jonas is placed, yeah.

Loot | Paladin 3 | AC 16 / T 11 / FF 15 | hp 28/28 | Fort/Ref/Will +6/+4/+7 | CMB +6, CMD 17 | Per +0 | LoH 3/3 (1d6+1d6)

Can we roll a knowledge check on them?

Tree:
Plant companion (tree) | AC/T/FF 17/11/16 | hp 19/19 | Fort/Ref/Will +4/+4/+1 (-8 Ref when planted) | CMB +5, CMD 16 | Immune paralysis, poison, sleep, stun | Percept +6

I'll be out of town starting on Friday (going to PaizoCon! WOO!!) and will likely not be updating much until I get back on Tuesday night. Tomorrow will be my last day of full-day posting. Players or GMs, please feel free to bot my characters until I get back.

Elxurian wrote:

These would actually be beyond any check you all are capable of, as will be made clear soon. :)

Male Human

Being ridiculously new to Roll20 (a lovely and useful thing, by the way), is there a way to indicate who or what a PC is hitting or firing at?

Gobbo!

Not really, just have to explain it in your post. If you need, I can number them. Stating "closest target" or something to the effect is fine. Otherwise I use best judgement and attack either the most wounded or something you have the best chance of hitting.

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

Are they large enough for me to use my Mouser skill?

Underfoot Assault (Ex): At 1st level, if a foe whose size is larger than the mouser's is adjacent to her and misses her with a melee attack, the mouser can as an immediate action spend 1 panache point to move 5 feet into an area of the attacker's space. This movement does not count against the mouser's movement the next round, and it doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity. While the mouser is within a foe's space, she is considered to occupy her square within that foe's space.

Female Human Skald (Ancestral Warrior) 2 -- HP 20 : AC 17 CMD 15 TAC 14 FAC 13 : F+5 R+4 W+3 : INIT+6 Perception+5

Is there any way to get coordinates on our map?

Gobbo!

@Quarick - They are medium sized, so yes, they would be valid targets.

@Tsura - I don't usually make maps with any coordinates, so that's probably going to be a no for now. I'll consider it for future maps, but I will also use stock maps that don't have them, so it won't be something that would always be available.

Gobbo!

@Tsura - FYI, slashing grace does not apply to thrown weapons. Its a melee specific skill, even if your chosen weapon can also be thrown.

Ah, you are correct. Thanks. I will adjust the damage.

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

Dice are not favoring me.

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

And I finally roll well and it is useless.

Ergh.

Gobbo!

Hah, its not useless! Its actually pretty important :)

Apparently this door is warded against divine interference. :P

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

Let's hope they don't have a back door. They'll be long gone by the time we can get in.

Gobbo!

I will be enjoying myself at the lake this weekend so my posting will be limited. I expect to be able to post in the mornings. As it is a long weekend for those in the US, if you are unable to post that is completely understandable.

Gobbo!

I've updated the wiki with the information gathered so far, including the addition of several NPCs you discovered. I also added an entry for the creatures as well as a picture to help with understanding how they looked once closely examined. The ones attacking lacked the facial ridges that are represented in the picture, but did have similar ridges along their scalp.

Entry for the creatures

Gobbo!

Very quiet today. Hopefully I didnt throw too much arpee at you all too early :)

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

Just not sure what to do right now. After this scene ends, I plan on heading out into the city to find out about this chunk of bone and such.

Loot | Paladin 3 | AC 16 / T 11 / FF 15 | hp 28/28 | Fort/Ref/Will +6/+4/+7 | CMB +6, CMD 17 | Per +0 | LoH 3/3 (1d6+1d6)

So let's wrap this up. Do you want to add anything else to the information we already have?

Gobbo!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Will be following up with some of you as well as making a post this morning. Back to business! :)

Gobbo!

Haven't heard from a few folks, so I just wanted to clarify that downtime is handled a bit more loosely than standard play. I try not to do too much hand holding during this process to allow everyone to take care of what they need to before pushing forward. Unfortunately that means that the onus is on you, the player, to get whatever information you need to me, get my feedback, and report that you are ready.

To spell out the process a little better, here is a basic step by step of downtime:

- Let me know anything you are doing. This can be earning coin, accumulating resources, uncovering information, greasing palms, etc.
- Make any purchases you need to do.
- Make contact with your faction if needed.
- Roleplay with each other, share information, so on.

During all of these various steps I will be interacting with the group as various NPCs and such, and a lot of times interacting with players individually. Sometimes the spotlight won't be on you, sometimes it will.

Once you are good to go, simply respond in this discussion thread that you are ready to move forward. Once everyone reports in and all the loose ends are handled, we drive on.

This is not an adventure path, and flows freely rather than marching along in a linear fashion. So there won't always be a hook for you to follow. For those who are less experienced with homebrew tabletop play this could mean a big change from what you are used to. If you are finding yourself questioning what is next, let me know. And if you think this type of game is too loose for your playstyle, let me know that as well.

Carry on! :)

M Male Gnome Alchemist 1 (mindchemist)

I will let others post before I do so again. Don't want to rush things.

Are we all staying at this Inn then?

Tree:

Just got back from PaizoCon, so I'm catching up now. I'll need a bit of time to decide what I want to do in my downtime. Penka will plan to stay at the cheap inn.
