Yeah, I think Iggy's fine as he is, and if you switched, I don't think he'd have quite the Intimidate factor he does now. I'm really switching Variziel because I mainly went with Cad to get me the skills I wanted, although the abilities would also reflect his growing pirate-like fighting style of no-holds-barred combat. The swashbuckler does what I want nigh perfectly.

That's unfortunate, but I understand. Tough to find invested, intelligent gamers. Hope all turns out for the best.

2 weeks since our last DM post?
Gotta keep the momentum up, here, or else I may start looking for another game.

It has seemed like he's been in rough spots recently as far as availability goes, to be fair. I'd love for this game to continue, especially at the pace it had back when we began, but if it dies, I don't know how much can be done about it. I'm willing to stick it out and hope the Cap'n returns to us, though.

Hello ladies and gents, honorable Lady R.V.T. is in attendance! First, a general announcement: THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOL'S DAY PRANK! It's not up to a lady's decorum! ^_^ The Silver Prince has had some troubles with his cell phone and by that I mean the screen is kind of, well... destroyed. As it was a touchscreen phone he has been unable to use it. I would have messaged everyone earlier for him but I dropped college and since his phone has the broken condition was unable to contact me. I know it's not my place but... give him an easy time about it, ok? Poor guy's rolled a few natural 1's this year and he was adamant about me letting you folks know about this. I am letting him use one of my phones so he should be able to post tomorrow once he gets stuff set up and all that.
Now, for S&S! The Cap'n had a few things for me to inform you of. First, he wanted everyone to brushed up on ship-to-ship and underwater combat rules. Next, he wanted everyone to think of a 'mascot' for the future ship. He said you guys don't have to have one but that most pirates did so it's thematic. He said it's not going to be anything above CR2, and it must be a beast, magical beast, vermin, or outsider. He also said to think about whether you all later want to associate with a faction. I guess like the Red Mantis, the Whispering Way, or something? He wanted me to give Janus some stuff from the Book of Vile Darkness, but that's apparently not applicable anymore. I've been involved in more than a few divorces, though none my own but I know they are rough. I'm sorry to hear about your divorce. *HUGS* Since you have to drop out I'll see if he wants to put you as an NPC. I'll be happy to play if it's ok with him and you all!
Most of the time I only stay on long enough to ask a question or order a book but for my buddy I'll try to stay on a few more hours to answer any questions you guys have to the best of my ability.

Glad to know the captain lives. ^^
I think it would be more interesting to be unaffiliated with any factions, and purely out for our own benefit.
As far as mascots go... nothing comes to mind. I've already got a bit of a mascot of my own in the form of Little Sister. If the crew is up with having a ghost hang around the ship, I could see a Young Ghost Commoner 1, but I don't think it'd be very fair of me to put myself in the spotlight like that.
I'm rather fond of birds, myself, if anyone has an idea there.

Thank you for your input Charlotte! ^_^
By the way, does anyone have any tips for an upcoming PBP'er? I was thinking about GM'ing because looking at TSP's stuff I like it! Well... minus the lags but nothing's perfect, yeah?
Sorry about some of the semi-British inflections in my postings! TSP says it's charming but I don't know! ;) Is everyone here an American like TSP or what? Just curious about all the demographics and whatnot!

I'm québécois, myself.
Tips: Throw yourself into a game with players who are friendly to beginners. It's best learned as you go. Make sure you have plenty of free time to answer in games, and be careful of making the error I made of joining too many games and overwhelming yourself.

Yarr! Messages deployed via a motley collection of strange beings here be called "Lotus Master" and a "drow". As for our mascot let it be a spirit, who doesn't want a Cyclops at the prow of our fine vessel going kill it!

Whoa! Good to see that stuff's happening again, and good to hear that the Cap'n still lives and will return. Give him my regards, will you, please? I've hit some snags this year, too. College can be hard...
As for questions, um, well, I'm American; I'll read up on combat of that type; I'll do some research on mascots; and I agree with pretty much everything Charlotte said above in regards to PBP. It's very fun, though it has its drawbacks, and I was fortunate enough to get into it pretty smoothly (first game I applied to, I got in, and when the GM disappeared another stepped up and he was fantastic). Just give it your best and don't get disheartened if things don't go smoothly--many games die off due to the nature of forums, and it can be difficult to get one off the ground.
Hope that all goes well with you and our Cap'n!

Games die to lack of momentum and GMs biting off more than they can handle. Combat and dungeon exploration can be tedious if you don't have a system to move things along. And you have to be willing to cut things, use narrative a bit more and not get bogged down in the rules else you lose the flavor of your PbP. I say this as a guy who is running two long standing (multi year) APs and am a player in 2 more.
GM investment is crucial to keep players interested.
