Oh... well this person is an alchemist :) hehe

Travis Brogan |

alcchemists do get clw :)

Shorga Brull |

Really!? Nice!

Shorga Brull |

GM Brayden told me to go ahead and extend the invite to Cydrius as he'd be offline for awhile this evening. I've done so and asked that he come say howdy when he's able. GoooooOOOOO team!

Osmillar Vendeltray |

"Ah, fine day, ladies and gents. Let me say, declare, and affirm, it is an honor to be one of your number."
Thanks for the invite, guys, this definitely sounds like a promising game.
I do believe I'll be able to fill in, at least partly, for the healer spot; I intend to pick the infusion discovery at level 2, and most of the healing extracts.
I've got my sheet up, although my gear isn't yet done. I've peered through the recruitment thread, and I can't seem to find what the starting gold is. Would anyone mind enlightening me?
I've built using those alternate language rules and the extra three skillpoints, as mentioned.
A few questions for Brayden:
1. Are you fine with variant racial traits? I've taken a few that I felt would reflect Osmillar's nature as born in a colony of scientific vocation.
2. Am I correct in assuming that, with the languages variant in place, a character with a racial trait that allows one to learn two languages with every point of linguistics would instead gain two "levels" in languages with each point? (Therefore either getting a new language up to II immediately, or bringing two languages up by one level)
3. Are you fine with me using the premade equipment kit as part of making my equipment?
Also, a question for Wren: When I first conceived of Osmillar, the idea of an interest in birds struck me too. (It meshed well with some class features: His mutagen, most often used for dex-boosting, would give him some birdlike traits, and I intended to take the Wings discovery, later on.) That being said, I know it can be frustrating to have another player stepping on your toes where thematics are involved, so I'd like to ask: Would you be bothered by having a fellow ornithologist in the party? It's a small part of my theme, so it's no skin off my back dropping it for some other field of study if it bothers you. (Alternately, good thing for our characters to share an interest in.)

Shorga Brull |

Welcome welcome!!

Wren the FeatherMage |

Welcome Ocelot! Oscillator! Oscillococcinum! Uh...Oz!
Would you be bothered by having a fellow ornithologist in the party? (Alternately, good thing for our characters to share an interest in.)
All good. Play the yahoo you wish and Wren will happily play along.
*squawk*

Osmillar Vendeltray |

I get a feeling that bird puns are going to start flocking to this thread soon.
Hm. Might anyone more familliar with Golarion's geography be able to help? I'm trying to figure out where Osmillar might be boarding.
He left Sargava a while ago to present his findings in some matter of gnomish academy, and is on his way back to Sargava from that. Any suggestion for his possible point of embarkment?
Also, about some questions that were raised earlier: I'm on EST time, and I can't access the forums from work, so I usually post in the evening.
That text thing is not doable for me because I can't send or receive texts from the US (I'm from Quebec, Canada). An email chain could work.

Silly question, but does your phone get to the forums?
Because you can post to email, then copy/paste from phone to forums.

Hmmmm. I'm no Golarion geographical expert, but boarding in the Shackles might be a good place, especially Port Peril. It's a big Free Port (the biggest port/city in the Shackles) and there's a lot of trade between the Shackles and Sargava so it'd be easy to book passage I'd assume.

Brayden Green |

Welcome Welcome!
I will check it out later tonight!
As for the questions 1, yes as long as it's paizo. Others must be approved.
2 you have perfect.
3. No Problem.
As far as where to board, I don't think anyone would care if we retconned and just said that you boarded in Cheliax, and picked up a person at each stop (2 others, and you).
If that doesn't work for you, I just posted the ship voyage schedule, so you can check there. My feeling is just get in the game and we'll retcon it. We already had to do some backtracking anyways because the Paizo Post monster ate about a dozen posts over the last 2 days from this thread.
:)

Blarg. Just realized I done goofed on Alphonse' race (wanted him to be Angel Blooded so I could boost his stats a mite after I swapped to Sword and Board instead of straight TWFing, since I no longer need the Dex he has) but I guess it's too late now.

Brayden Green |

Oz,
"you have perfect." = #2, yes you understand it perfectly. That is exactly they way I would envision that trait going along with the skillset as modified.
You can substitute all of those, no problem.

Travis Brogan |

btw - welcome Oz... sorry I'm a little late.

Shorga Brull |

Rynjin, That's great news! A little imperfection never hurt anyone. ;)
I have yet to plan a character farther than the current level. I think it's really fun and interesting to plot out all the tweaks and upgrades and how awesome he'll be at a certain point. But mostly I just get tired thinking about it. This is not bragging, this is an admission of laziness. :)

Rynjin |

I enjoy the building as much as the playing, really. I have a whole bunch of characters I statted up but had no intention of ever playing, either because they're silly, take too long to come together, or I just forget about 'em by the time the next game rolls around.
Frex, Jackie (and his friend Rick if you scroll down).

Eh, it's not really too late.
We haven't started combat yet, so I'm still flexible.

Brayden Green |

I can't figure out if you are all just waiting for me to move on?
I haven't quite gotten "the flow" of this group yet. BTW I am okay with people posting "all done here" in ooc code or discussion so that I know to move on for sure.
I was going to give Oz a chance to jump in on gameplay before I moved on, but I'll just move on and he'll jump on somewhere. There are plenty, plenty, plenty more spots for the next couple of real time days to jump in at each port.

Travis Brogan |

travis stated his actions during the chelaxian stops, and yeah, after my long post got eaten, I kind of am waiting for you to move us along cause I didn't want to retype it, though I did include some references to it in my journal.

Yup. Pacing is the hardest thing to master in a new group. In general, once we get comfortable, we can push a bit more...because we trust each other to do a retro post (if a player) or a 'hold up!' post (if the GM).
It'll take a bit of time.
Wren, as aforementioned, is slow posting to give the latecomer a chance to get ready and get in.
Wren is ready to move on from Cheliax.

Brayden Green |

I added some gameplay to the game thread. Maybe that will spice things up a little, and help the story along. :)
- Cross your fingers for a good Paizo server. :)

Travis Brogan |

brayden, are you referring to rp with npc's? cuz just a die roll doesn't makea lot of sense re: pc to pc, just confirming... lol

Rynjin |

'Kay. I tweaked his stats. Nothing much really changed. -1 Dex, -1 Cha, +2 Str. I figured his attitude won't really change with the slight Cha drop since I was already playing him as kind of pushy and a little too excitable, but I got rid of that unnecessary 15 Dex (since I get TWFing as a Combat Style Feat).
I don't figure I need to change his appearance, at least I hope so. Makes just as much sense for an Angel as a Garuda since the touches are so subtly avian (maybe MORE sense since reading over it Garuda Blooded may be supposed to be feathered all over).
Then again, I really liked the Garuda Blooded flavor, especially for this AP, and had some stuff planned out for some of the in-built racial tendencies. Gah.
Bane of my existence on rare occasions. Do I nerf myself for flavor, or go with second best flavor for better mechanics? =/
In the long term, I guess +1 hit/damage doesn't matter a whole lot...I'll figure it out soon.

Brayden Green |

yeah, npc's. ;)
Lol, Rynjin. I am my own worst enemy when I make a character. I understand :)

Shorga Brull |

Speaking of game speed, I agree it'll work itself out as we continue.
I will say that I much prefer the problem of asking a GM to slow down, rather than wishing the game would go faster. Like Wren says, we're all mostly familiar with the ropes.

Shorga Brull |

NPCs. So far you have the crew as one, The cook Rambar - who is separate from the crew for rp purposes, the Captain, Alton the first mate, Gelik, Ieana and Jask.
Sounds like we've discovered another page for the Team Site. :)
*EDIT* Blast! I didn't think they'd block it at my work location. Figures... It can wait till tonight I guess. *le sigh*

Brayden Green |

I intend to make my big appearance tonight after work. Would rather not rush a post this morning.
As for pace, I agree with Shorga.
Perfect. :)

Brayden Green |

Looks good Oz.
Also, I just wanted to clarify with everyone that the extra skills you get per GM house rules still apply to the "no more ranks than your level" rule. You are just getting a wider variety of things to contribute, not more powerful skills.
Was that clear? I'll add that clarification for the future in my master copy.

Rynjin |

Yar.
Hm. Just realized I will probably have not enough time to craft any useful alchemical supplies, unless my memory betrays me. May swap that rank for something else if it's not too late (Kn. Local, maybe?).
Or Profession: Aimless Wanderer. =)

Brayden Green |

Not too late Rynjin, but there will be opportunities to craft alchemy, even on the island. Supplies are found in the nature that seem to suffice, and ... other stuff. :)
The 3 extra points are just at first level. They represent whatever you were doing or interested in before you pinged level one.

Shorga Brull |

The team site has a page for NPCs now, fyi.

Brayden Green |

A 2 hr wait in a doctor's office put me off schedule. I won't be seeing him again, looks like. Yikes! Resolving right now.

Brayden Green |

I tried to make the "resolve post" as non deus ex as possible, you would have had a round to act after the doors were shut in the surprise round. You wouldn't have been able to do much, as "they" (whomever that is) were reinforcing the doors and windows over the last few days. The spell was a cloudkill, though poorly executed (not cast at an appropriate level) and so you aren't dead! Yay!
In the interest of moving the story along I skipped your rounds and the posting delay to get to the island.

Wren the FeatherMage |

roll initiative
GM Green- It is highly recommended that you roll initiative for us...lest the rounds take twice as long to start. Usually, GM's put the init coding on the campaign page or alias so you can copy/paste it when needed.
Secondly, Wren will always have the ability to act in the surprise round, however, this time she's just going to choke on poison.
Rock on.

Brayden Green |

Also, I think that the AP - for those of you that know it - is set up incorrectly. I'd rather "railroad" a little teensy bit, then start the AP with you on a beach, all of these things having happened (originally the AP poisons you and you wake up remembering nothing... then you start remembering more and more in dreams.)
That, to me, seems the greater sin. To tell the character what has happened in their life as memories, rather than experiences. I dunno though. I would welcome your feedback.
I thought doing it like this would let us rp, get a feel for each other, and I could wait for my materials to come (module 1) the way that I prefer to study them (I have no reliable FLGS in my part of town that I can just walk in and buy a module).
I would be interested as to what your input is so far. Are you having fun? I was thinking of leaving our experiences on the Serpents thread for anyone that wanted to try it our way, with pointers from the players perspective.
Anyway, you are a wonderful group, and thanks for doing this with me. Now, on with the AP!!!

I always roll Initiative. I just wanted to put that, like the credits going black with the directors name... haha.
I don't expect you to roll initiative. I should clarify that. ;)

I trust you. I don't know you, but I trust you to run this AP the way you want it run. I believe we'll have fun doing it.
I'm here to have fun and RP and make silly bird jokes...so yeah, I'm having fun.

Shorga Brull |

For sure I'm enjoying myself so far. It's a good group all around!
Now on with the bora-phil! ;)

Rynjin |

Fingers crossed that the most annoying part of this first fight is sidestepped because of the altered delivery method. =)
Anywho, I like the change. It's a lot better than what's written. I have a soft spot in my heart for this AP, seeing as it was the AP I was playing for my first ever Pathfinder game (and the only one I did a Chronicle for. Which reminds me, unless you want Books 2 and 3 spoiled for you...don't follow the link in my profile under "Campaign Graveyard") but the way it starts off is just BS, and pretty boring overall.
For those who don't know, there is no time on the Jenivere as written, it just starts with the events after the unmodified version of this scene (with the poison, as Brayden put above), and then you just kinda remember what happened later. No time for character interaction, it just tosses you into the mix in the most railroady way possible.

Well, when you give 6 players "max gold" ... you know something is up the GM's sleeve. :)

Thanks, that means a lot. I think I gave it a heroic effort. I was going to throw in a pirate attack in the Shackles, but then my AP came in the mail today, and I was like "Screw it. It's island time!"
