The tunnel to the south leads back to the flooded area. The tunnel to the north dead ends at an empty room.
Echo Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Echo, not wanting to leave behind any of the potential treasure that could negatively impact her rewards, searches the room and finds a large bronze shield and a suit of bronze armor which she quickly identifies as Bronze Full-Plate +1.
The group opens to the door to the west revealing a hallway with a steep set of 100 stairs leading down to a west landing and a solid stone door.
What do you want to do?
Myani
|
Myani sees the ghoul corpses on the ground and supposes that, perhaps, it wasn't just Deris that attacked them.
"Echo - should we ... cleanse the rest of these spirits as you had done?' she asks, unsure of what exactly Echo had done to remove the spirit. Myani defers to the other woman's expertise.
"If there is nothing else of value in this room, we should move on."

"I dunno... they seem peaceful enough. But, I'll be the first to admin, I am not an expert in such things. As me Pappy always said, 'Let the thinking folks do the thinking. We Sons of Thorval are good for the hitting part.'"
He offers charges off his wand if it is deemed the proper thing to do by the group.
Thorval Thorvalson
|
Contrary to his father's teachings, Thorval starts thinking. His brow furrows, and he looks like he has indigestion. "Fellas, why don't we just keep moving, for now. We can always check up on them when we get back."
Having made a decision, Thorval pushes on, coming to the door, and the stairs. "Well, me Pappy always said, 'when exploring leave no door unopened!" With that, he opens the door. (He does wait for everyone to catch up to him)

"She will be fine," Myani says with confidence (as Ti-Ti lags behind, carefully walking down the steps one at a time).

The door swings open. With the frequency of storm waves approaching the shore, salt water erupts from the cracks in the floor of this large hexagonal room. Foamy, blinding spray jumps in every direction, then drains from calf-height to ankle-deep before the next wave hits. Occasionally a length of blac-brown seaweed shoots in and adds one more strand to the room that already appears draped in long wet hair. In each of the chamber's six corners, a fluted pillar rises to the fifty-foot ceiling. Between each pair of pillars, an open arch connects the chamber to an attached space. Beyond the northwest and southwest arches, three tiers of recessed spaces form three massive steps. A stone sarcophagus rests on each step.

Thorval opens the door, and is ready to step into the room behind, when a wall of stench hits him full in the face. It isn't just the smell of death that hits him, but the fact that he can physically taste as well. He hiccups a couple of times, as if to throw chunks, but is able to control himself.
"COUGH! It's like me Pappy always said... when you Death stares you in the face, either you stand tall and stare him down, or you die with vomit on your shoes!"
GM.Boldr
|
Echo is about to enter the room, but as she enters Thorval's space waves of stench pour over her. Acting before Thorval said anything she clearly wasn't expecting the odor and breathes in deeply. She looks Thorval right in the eye before vomiting over his trousers and shoes before passing by and attempting to get past the ghoul.
Echo is now sickened for the remainder of combat.

"Aww... man. Echo, did you have to do that? Where did all of that come from? I mean, you practically ate nothing at dinner... I ate most of yours!" He looks at his clothing and shoes, and shakes his head.

With the spray of water, and the creature, Thorval knows exactly what he has to do. Of course, this is no surprise to anyone who has met him, because he almost always knows what to do when danger rears its ugly head... hit it in the face!

Back up one step - Unfortunately I'm not going to let Ti-Ti do that. As a blind animal with an INT of 2, I don't feel that action fits in the her capabilities of understanding an attack command. In her world, at this point since she cannot see an enemy, as far as she knows, that enemy no longer exists. Sorry.
Ti-Ti looks utterly confused by the seawater. Not knowing where to go or what to attack due to it "no longer existing" in her animal brain, she holds her ground.
Yahn sees the ghoul look frantically for an exit as Thorval's fist slams into its jaw. In a slight panic he moves out of his position, clearly in an attempt to flee the scene. It moves past Echo and the blinded party directly towards Yahn.

The ghoul moved - but where?
Annoyed by the constant seawater spray, Myani calls upon her totem to transform her senses. Her nose changes shape to look more like a dinosaur's would. She sniffs the air, the scents (regretfully) more clear than they were before.
"It's by the door!" she yells.

A clarification Myani's turn.
The creature detects another creature's presence but not its specific location. Noting the direction of the scent is a move action. If the creature moves within 5 feet (1 square) of the scent's source, the creature can pinpoint the area that the source occupies, even if it cannot be seen.
