You could climb out from the square with an X, but you would have to spend more effort to do so. Kind of like climbing out of a pool. It would take a whole move action to climb that way. (Climb at one-quarter speed is 5' for 30' of regular movement). So you spend 10' underwater, move action climb and then 20' regular to current position.

His touch AC versus the ghost would be 10(base)+3(dex)+4(deflection bonus from Bastion of Good)+4(dodging panache), so 21.

Incidentally, I forgot to mention that it still hits Tristan for full damage.

In that case I should be able to just climb to the edge with a single movement 20' to climb (5 feet at one quarter speed), 10' feet to reach the climbing position. I will still have my standard action to start Inspire Courage.

Just wanted to verify I'm in the area of effect for the spell...I'm down the stairs and in the other room still, it seems. I'll go on the assumption I am confused, however.

Insidion's head snaps back after he takes the full brunt of the spell. He thrashes back and forth several times before slashing his razor-sharp claws across his leg.

Since Varian is confused and the ghost hit him, Varian is now locked into attacking it until something else hits him or confusion ends. Either way, he no longer has to roll for what he does.

Moving forward Quarr grabs a vial that shimmers red and white in the clear container. He hurls it at the man behind the ghost and it erupts in a fiery explosion. The explosion creates a large pocket of steam in the small room, though only for an instant.

The ghost doesn't respond to Pandora as she looses two arrows, one of which finds their mark in the evil cleric. Quarr's bomb also incinerates the man as he laughs maniacally. "Varian and the Sniper are mine! MINE!" he yells as he blasts the entire group once more with negative energy.

Finally coming to himself, Insidion sees his companion down, draws his wand of infernal healing, and activates it on the fallen warrior.

EDIT: Actually, I'd like to have a contingent action if infernal healing is unlikely to help Varian (either because he's dead or because the other actions keep him alive without the need for fast healing). @Pandora: The cleric was staggered from damage. He used a standard action to Channel once more as a sort of death knell and fell unconscious.

Varian collapses on the ground, but his body resists most of the damage that was likely to kill him.

Hagrym attempts to cast CLW on Varian, but draws the ire of the ghost.

As he tries to cast, the longsword pierces his body in a vital area and nearly kills the Inquisitor in a single blow, interrupting his healing attempt for Varian. Hagrym cannot make the Concentration check to cast the CLW even if he makes the Fortitude save as the DC is 34 and he has a +9.

Quarr and Pandora both launch ranged salvos, damaging the powerful ghost.

Tristan sears the ghost with positive energy, aided by Pandora's song as Insidion draws his wand and begins incanting to heal the fallen man. @Insidion: IH is a full round cast, so your cast will take your standard action from this round and the standard action from next round to activate. You can draw the wand with your tail as a swift action and cast as a full round in a single round. For future reference, please specify if you are using your tail to retrieve stuff. :D

Insidion's Infernal Healing activates, staunching the bleeding of Varian and begins to knit his innards back together.

I believe Tristan's ability is not being taken into account as for the ghost damage. As I understand it, the ghost should be dealing only half damage (thus, 1/4 if save) for characters at 10' of him.

Bastion of Good (Su):
At 1st level, a sacred shield can call upon the powers of good to defend her and her allies against evil. This ability functions as smite evil, except that the paladin gains no benefit on attack or damage rolls against her target. Instead, any attacks the target makes against allies within 10 feet of the paladin deal half damage. Attacks against the paladin deal full damage, but the paladin gains a deflection bonus to her AC equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) against attacks made by the target of the smite. This bonus increases by +1 for every four paladin levels.

Checking Varian's position in Google docs 'last modifications' for Saturday, 02:33 am and Hagrym's one for 6 hours, 33 minutes ago, they both seem to be within 10 feet of him.
It seems they should be taking only 1/4 damage due to their saves. I haven't gone on further past moves, but I think it is fair to forget about those. Am I missing something?
If I am right, that also means Hagrym's concentration DC is only 19, as he took 34/4=8 damage.

@Pandora: Ah yes. Looks like the ghost's two of the last three attacks were not halved properly. Odd that Pandora found this instead of the person who cast the ability. ;-) Also, the damage is 47, thus 11 damage on Hagrym's successful save. Varian's HP has been updated to receive the extra 5 HP from the quarter he should have received.

Re: confusion, I thought if I was attacked I wasn't confused? "Any confused character who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, as long as it is still confused when its turn comes." I was attacked and then I can direct my attacks at them, right? Rolling just in case.

Precise Bomb has no effect on a miss unfortunately


The bomb missed the ghost as it has a really good Touch AC. Once a miss occurs, Precise Bomb discovery has no effect as Quarr says, thus you are all subject to the splash.

@Insidion: The ghost has never attacked you.

Insidion feels frustration at being hit with fire and slams his head against the railing of the stairs.

Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Next turn, unless Vaydren attacks you, you will attack Quarr as he just attacked you.

@Tristan: I was curious if CLW allowed for a save. I looked it up and found that it actually does allow for a save.

It is a ghost Insidion, it gains its Charisma bonus as a deflection bonus, so it is not a surprise he has extremely high touch AC :/

Observing Tristan's bastion is still giving them an opportunity, Pandora places new arrows at her bow and shots fiercely at the ghost, understanding they are being able to somehow damage the creature.
