Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul tries to grab hold of the log he had been walking over.
reflex?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
I assume that misses
Struggling in the water, Rhuul strikes out for the surface and Shamak's rope.
swim: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Rowanna Nachtalus |
Rowanna uncorks her potion of Touch of Sea and takes a few delicate sips. After her hands become webbed and her feet are transformed in flippers, she dips herself into the water and easily swims across to the other side.
While waiting for the others, she sits on a log looking bored.
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly can summon a giant frog or other swimming creature if needed. He has to dismiss Whiskers to do so, so it will take a bit more time.
" Rhuul, are you going to be ok? You look a bit green....well..and not just from the water.. "
Rhuul Irontoe |
"I've had better days Lad, I'll grant you that. But I've had worse. Why, one time I had this elven bread. They say it'll keep you running for a week. Let me tell you it was true. I had the runs for a week."
He wearily pulls himself upright.
"Lets head on into that. I'll maybe not take the lead any more if that is okay with the rest of you."
Rhuul looks into the darkness with his darkvision, trying to see what lies within.
Orik Fistbreaker |
Perhaps someone nimble cna help Orik across by running a rope along the log edge, or if the summoned creature is necessary, but Acrobatics is not his strong skill. If there is a sense of urgency, you don't want him taking off and then re-donning his armor.
Orik looks askance at the rest. "Will naeone give t'poor dwarf a wee bit o'aid? The water makes poor Oorik afeared, an' he needs a 'and tae make it o'er."
Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul is more than happy to take the soggy end of the rope from Ishingka and tie it to something. "Here you are Orik. No finder handrail... this side of the island."
Rowanna Nachtalus |
Rowanna cast Dancing Lights earlier and had them interact with the darkness. The GM didn't comment on what happened, I'm assuming the darkness just swallowed them.
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Of course, we can just Attack The Darkness
Rhuul Irontoe |
"Pathfinders"
Calls out Rhuul, once again unfolding his pathfinder flag.
"We are coorperating, we have little to report, which leaves us only the option of EXPLORE!"
He readies his war-axe in his other hand.
"The only way is into that darkness. And nothing in there will be scarier than me giving you any more details about that Elven bread. That's what is going to happen if we don't get in there."
He looks at Orik "Lead on Cousin. My axe will be at your back."
Shamak |
"Well said. Let's go!"
GM Bold Strider |
As you enter the dark sphere, you notice that you can see inside as if you are surround by a tinted window, blocking out most of the sun, but you can't see out from where you came.
Suddenly, a high staccato voice cackles maniacally and calls out from the top of the boundary rock nearest to you. “Too too late, filthy intruders! All your prancing through my beautiful forest, and nothing for you remains! The beautiful, beautiful sun will do my job for me, destroy your precious lorestone as soon as it rises, and you are failures, humans are always failures, always always.”

Wembly/Whiskers-Diseased: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Rhuul-Diseased: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6

Rowanna-Diseased: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
1d6 ⇒ 3
A little grey creature holding a small rapier and a large rock runs up, stabs Ishingka and, before she realises what happened, the creature is standing at the opposite end of the island taunting her.
Rapier @ Ish-13 FFAC: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 Fortitude Save against Poison.
Another creature (who resembles Gire, but isn't) flutters through the air and waves her hands. The all around the Pathfinders rises up and tries to subdue them.
Everyone: Reflex Save DC 13 to avoid becoming entangled.
Initiative (Round 1!):
1st: Fey with Rock; Flying Fey
2nd: Rhuul; Ishingka; Shamak; Rowanna; Orik; Wembly; Whiskers;
Shamak |
Ref save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Shamak begins to inspire courage, growling very loud.
Inspire courage, +1 hit/dmg and +1 against charm and fear effects.
Orik Fistbreaker |
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Scrambling from the source of the grasping plants, the shielded fighter is able to avoid the tripping and snaring vines and leaves for now. He rushes towards the edge of the affected area as quickly as possible, but the slow going keeps him inside the spell effect.
Is the green circle also now difficult terrain per Entangle spell? I moved Orik as if it were. Double moving for 20' and then saving again to avoid being entangled.
Reflex DC 13: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Rowanna Nachtalus |
Ref Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Fighting off the entangling vines, Rowanna also tries to make her way to the edge of the magical effect. "I'm the only human here, you moron." She replies, letting her frustration get the best of her.
Ref Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Ref: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Ishingka runs out of the entangling vegetation to seek cover behind the main menhir.
40' speed, 4x movement when running in medium armor, but cut that to 1 square counts for 2 in difficult terrain…I think I can get out.
Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul tries to avoid the grass for the second time in the day.
reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
But, like so many other things this day, it really doesn't work out for him.
He slowly wades through the undergrowth.
20' move, halved is 10', in difficult terrain = 1 square. Double move = two squares
Everyone remember +1 to hit and damage from flagbearer on top of the inspire courage from Shamak
Rhuul Irontoe |
That makes sense. I guess it is move actions to try and break free
Rhuul tries to move through the thick grass.
move1 try to break free: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
But finds his boots thoroughly entangled. He tries once again to break free
move2 to break free: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
And finally manages to extract himself, even as more grass tries to grab him..
So I hope I got this right. I have moved Rhuul back to his first square on the map. Tried two move actions to break free, succeeded on the second, but then can't actually move as no actions left. So next round, he'll have to make a new save as he is in the area, but he is not currently entangled at the moment. Does that sound right?
Shamak |
Move to break free: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Shamak breaks free from the roots.
Wembly Templeton |
Assuming Wembly has not had a minute to summon Whiskers back yet...
Wembly save reflex : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Frog save reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
"What in the world are these? Oh man, now I am stuck."
Wembly Templeton |
The frog will try to chase the fast grey guy and attack if it can get out of the weeds (30 East as double move, up to GM discretion)
"Go get him, Kermie!"
Wembly tries to break free and move...
move escape : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 vs DC 13
And he moves forward 10'.
GM Bold Strider |
The group moves and tries to escape the entangling roots as the fey that you assume is Cyflymder laughs at you. He rockets around and leaps onto the 10' tall stones with his ridiculous speed.
Stabbing the frog in the face at the same time!
Rapier: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Rapier Confirmation: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Damage: 2d4 - 2 ⇒ (2, 1) - 2 = 1
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (12) + 35 = 47
Initiative (Round 2!) [Round 10 = Very Bad]:
1st: Cyflymder; Atomie
2nd: Rhuul; Ishingka; Shamak; Rowanna; Orik; Wembly; Whiskers;
Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul tries to avoid the roots.
reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Evading them, he heads towards the centre of the stone circle, looking for the lorestone the team has come to locate.
Double move=40' halved due to entange =20'
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Ishingka makes her way out of the tangling vegetation and takes out her Enlarge Person potion.
She scowls at the fey. "I hope you enjoy the sun, because I'm going to knock you right into it," she snarls.
Wembly Templeton |
The giant frog, not liking getting stabbed, reverts to its normal technique of wait and attack.
Move 30' closer and ready attack for when gray-fey moves within 15' and tongue attack to grab him. HP 14/15
tongue/touch+bards: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10
grab: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 = 19 vs CMD
Also, the frog will take any AOO if a creature provokes.
bite: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 = 21 for bite: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8
grab: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 2 = 14 vs CMD
Wembly, meanwhile, struggles again against the weeds.
escape: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 as he moves forward 20' towards the center.
Wembly Templeton |
He will provoke if he attacks someone else and moved past the frog to get there :-)
Rowanna Nachtalus |
Ref Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Rowanna is going to use her Mantle of the Black Rider boon to raise her Intelligence by +1 to a 20. It's a swift action to do so. The text of the boon can be found in her profile.
Finding herself wrapped up in vines once more, Rowanna focuses for a brief moment, then decides to try casting a Blindness spell at the apparent fey ringleader anyway.
Concentration Check DC 17: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
DC 17 Fort save or Cyflymder is permanently blinded.
Looking over the Entangle spell, I'm not sure if you have to save again if you start your turn in the entangle area or not. If not, she'll move out of the area, then cast her spell.
Orik Fistbreaker |
If you end your movement in an affected square, you must make the Reflex DC in order to avoid being entangled to start. If you start entangled, you must make a Strength or Escape Artist check to become unentangled. Orik made his Reflex at the end of last turn, and starts unentangled, this time.
Orik, somehow still free of the grasping roots and vines, struggles forward trying to get outside the spell circle which is activating the local flora.
With a nimble step or two, he gets into the clear, and near the flying fey creature. He raises his shield up to protect Ishingka, in case she becomes subject to attack.
"Stay behind me, lassie. These damnable wee fey 'r oop tae nae goot, believe mae. A goot thumpin' ought tae bring t'em aroond, eh?"
Double move gets Orik clear. Using Saving Shield as an immediate action, if necessary, to grant adjacent allies my +2 shield bonus to AC.
Rowanna Nachtalus |
I agree with your interpretation, Orik, but Rhuul succeeded last round to break free and still made another Reflex save at the start of his next round. Since the GM seems to endorse that other interpretation, I figured I'd hedge my bets and ask first.
Rhuul Irontoe |
So, technically you have to save again if you are still in the area of effect. Which makes sense as the grass is still trying to wrap around you, you just managed to avoid it before.Creatures that make their save can move as normal, but those that remain in the area must save again at the end of your turn.
Shamak |
Shamak tries to evade the vines and maintains his loud performance, following the others. Double move at half speed
Save ref: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
