Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul digs a shallow grave.
"I think it is that way!" he points using his wayfinder to assist.
know-georg: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 DM may choose to add +2 from the wayfinder I guess.

Shamak |
Survival: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Survival: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
Eventually, Shamak is able to help the others find a way.
Woops didn't see that it was three rolls, sorry.
GM Bold Strider |
It takes you 5d4 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 3, 1) = 13 hours to find the druidic circle. About halfway through the trek, 1d6 ⇒ 6 Shamak realizes that they may have been able to ask the gnomes for map or at least directions as the Pathfinders comb the woods for this small landmark.
It is the dark of night when the Pathfinders eventually stumble onto the henge. The thick trees, brush, and brambles of the Verduran Forest finally give way to a glassy lake with a small tree-studded island just thirty feet offshore. An improvised bridge of mossy logs stretches toward the island from the near shore, though some of the trunks have tipped nearly vertical into the water, leaving gaps along the makeshift bridge.
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly is riding whiskers to keep up with the big folks.
"Quite the journey, eh Whiskers? I am sure we will rest soon ."
Perc : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul sighs and yawns.
"I guess we should go over rather than rest the night..." he says reluctantly.
"Though I for one could do with a rest."
Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul looks around to see if there is a boat, or other means to get to the island.
Shamak |
"Why don't we just go to sleep? You wanna sleep on the island?" says Shamak, yawning.
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Ishingka looks at the two bards, her eyes widening. "I have a feeling that whatever is in that darkness will put us to sleep permanently," she says.
She pulls out her potion of Mage Armor and considers her other accouterment.
Rowanna Nachtalus |
Once the group reaches its destination, Rowanna pulls out her Pearl of Power to recall her Mage Armor spell and casts it on herself.
"Time is not on our side after that delay, we should act now. Allow me to illuminate the lake to see if there are any dangers." With that, the Witch casts Dancing Lights and sends them along the bridge and under the water to see if anything moves or reacts to them. She casts the cantrip as much as necessary to get a good view of the watery area. Once satisfied with the lake and nothing reacts, she sends the dancing lights into the darkness to see what effect it has.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul rolls his shoulders.
"Sleep may have to wait." he looks around and grins.
"Me Ma had a sleeping disorder. I kid you not! She called in Rhuul."
Once again he looks at the water, with distaste.
"Now we have to cross over, if there be no boat, then the bridge is out only option. I dunno a single dwarf that likes water, but if none of the rest of you are going across first, then I guess its going to have to be old Rhuul."
His eyes gleam.
"Challenged by fire and water in one day. This is not a day I'll remember fondly."
Did someone use a CLW wand to get everyone up to full in the end?
Wembly Templeton |
When ready to go,mWembly will cast Mage armor on Whiskers.
yes, I believe wands and cures brought everyone to full.
" well, we best get moving so we can get some rest. ".
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Ishingka downs her potion and pulls out her potion of Enlarge Person...and unslings her hammer. "I don't think we'll be resting for a bit, Wembly." She bares her small tusks and glares at the dark cloud.
Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul ties a rope around himself. Then, using his flagpole in two hands to help him balance, he starts across the uneven bridge.
"Keep a tight hold on that rope lads. Dwarves sink like a stone."
Shamak |
Shamak will hold firmly the rope.
GM Bold Strider |
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 + 1 = 11
Footing on the slick log bridge is difficult, however Rhuul moves across the logs patiently and makes it halfway. As he places his foot carefully, he feels something wrap around his back leg and cause him to violently flip over, hanging suspended from an overhanging branch by a crude rope trap.
Two small snakes slither down the rope and lash out at the inverted man with their fangs.
Bite @ Rhuul-11 FFAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Bite @ Rhuul-11 FFAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Rhuul feels the fangs of the snakes lodge in his trapped leg as the poison begins to course through his body.
You take two damage and I need two Fortitude Saves against poison.

Did I miss something? How did most of the party become diseased?
Rowanna uses her hexes to try to put one of the vipers to sleep.

The failed Rat Swarm Fortitude Saves from the first encounter.
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
One of the snakes falls asleep and detaches from Rhuul, falling into the water beneath him.
Bite @ Rhuul-11 FFAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
The snake lashes out at its prey once more, piercing Rhuul's quadricep and injecting more venom.
Need three Fortitude saves now.

2nd: Snakes (#1; #2)
3rd: Wembly; Whiskers; Rhuul @ 28/31 HP; Ishingka; Shamak; Orik

Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul twists at the end of the line...
My FFAC is 15, so I hope I only need two fort saves, providing three just in case.
Fort1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Fort2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Fort3: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
"When I saw I wanted to be tied to a rope, this is not what I was meaning!"
Rhuul fumbles for his war axe and tries to cut the last snake.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 <-no idea about the penalty for being unside down? same as prone? With a roll of one it doesn't matter.
But he is more of a hazard to his own leg than he is to the snake.
"Someone get that off me, and help me down!"
GM Bold Strider |
You take a -4 while suspended to AC and attacks, so (almost) same as prone. (Almost = all AC, not just against melee attacks but it doesn't matter for this fight)
Rhuul fends off the poison to the best of his ability, however he feels his body weakening.
Constitution Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Rhuul tries to hit the snake, but merely ends up flailing around. Ishingka tries to strike down the reptile but she is unable to get a clear shot and pulls back at the last second to avoid hitting Rhuul.
Also, I was wrong. They are Small, not Tiny. In case that matters.
Initiative:
1st: Rowanna
2nd: Snakes (#2)
3rd: Wembly; Whiskers; Rhuul-4 Con. Damage (1/6) @ 28/31 HP; Ishingka; Shamak; Orik
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly will try to hit the snake with asplash of acid
"Hold on Rhuul. What is it with you and poison? Didnt you say something about spiders on your last mission?"
attack touch : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 for Acid : 1d3 ⇒ 3
does not have precise.
Rhuul Irontoe |
"It's just they all know I'm a dwarf and dwarves are hardly and resistant to poison. So they all want to prove they have the best poison, they are like 'ohhh, look at me, poisoned a dwarf.'" explains Rhuul as he swats at the snake sinking its fangs into his ankle.
Rhuul Irontoe |
And because I didn't say it before
Rhuul also takes an anti toxin and swigs it as he feels the burning sensation of poison in his veins once again.
Rowanna Nachtalus |
If neither Shamak or Orik finish off the snake, Rowanna attempts to place a Misfortune Hex upon it.
DC 16 Will save to successfully resist
Shamak |
Shamak tries to come forward but somehow doesn't manage to reach Rhuul.
Acrobatics: 1d20 ⇒ 7
GM Bold Strider |
@Rhuul: You wouldn't be able to draw the anti-toxin and drink it until this turn.
Shamak moves forward and falls into the water as Wembly launches an Acid Splash at the small snake, but the splash goes wide as Wembly isn't trained in firing into combat.
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Rowanna tries to Misfortune the remaining snake, but the creature appears to be invigorated at the thought of delicious dwarf meat.
Orik hesistates at the thought of getting near the water as the snake lashes out at Rhuul again.
Bite @ Rhuul-11 FFAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Fort Save against the poison infliction and Fort Save against the ongoing effect.
Initiative:

Rowanna Nachtalus |
Assuming that Rhuul is now in dire straits with all the poison probably coursing through his veins, Rowanna tries to place the second snake asleep with a Hex.
Slumber Hex on the other snake, DC 16 Will
Rhuul Irontoe |
"Dem snakes are lucky I am tied up and upside down."
Gargles Rhuul and he fumbles around for his antitoxin.
fort: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 4 = 20 <- including antitoxin. vs ongoing effect
In PF, another change with poisons is that the multiple doses of the same poison raise the DC and extend duration slightly, but don't act in a cumulative fashion.
My reading of this is that the save above should mean Rhuul throws off hte poison if the initial DC was 18 or lower, but if it was 19 or higher then he would fail and the duration be extended by an additional round. I had this pointed out to me by an alchemist in another game.
GM Bold Strider |
You would still need another Fortitude save against the injection of the new poison bite, not just against the ongoing effect. This would be without the antitoxin as you did not consume the antitoxin before the last poisoned attack.
As an example, here is a quote from the Paizo Poison Blog. "Scenario B: Valeros is hit by a pair of arrows coated in greenblood oil, during the turn of one enemy archer. He fails the first DC 13 Fort save and takes 1 point of Con damage. He then must make a DC 15 Fort save for the second arrow. He makes this save and suffers no ill effect. On his turn, he must make a DC 13 For save (since only 1 dose of the poison is in effect). He makes this save and takes no damage, as the poison ends."
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Ishingka brings down her hammer again, aiming for the awake snake, and not Rhuul's swinging form.
Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Wembly Templeton |
Wembly contemplates dismissing Whiskers to summon a frog or similar swimming creature but waits to see how Ishingka's hammer does.
"good shot. Hang on Rhuul . "
Rhuul Irontoe |
Rhuul tries to overcome the poison rushing through his veins.
fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

I think I'll be taking great fortitude next level!
Shamak |
"Glub, someone help me!"
Shamak doesn't make it to swim ashore.
Swim: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly will pull out a rope and toss one end to Shamak, keeping the other looped around his saddle on Whiskers.
Hold on!
toss: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 to hit square?
GM Bold Strider |
Shamak goes underwater as Ishingka crushes the head of the snake with a well-placed strike from her hammer.
Rhuul concentrates and feels the poison in his system fade without any more damage.
Wembly tosses the half-orc a rope, but the half-orc is trying not to drown.
Orik is still paralyzed by fear.
Status:
Rowanna; Wembly; Whiskers; Rhuul-4 Con. Damage @ 27/31 HP; Ishingka; Shamak-Drowning; Orik
Shamak |
Swim: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 At last! I was wondering if that dice was stuck with low results...
Eventually, Shamak manages to get back on the top of the water and to swim ashore?
When he's ashore, Shamak sees the rope hanging from Wembly.
"Oh, sorry Wembly. Thank you!"
Orik Fistbreaker |
"Blast an' curse it!" cries Orik looking down at the bridge and the water beneath.
"I ain't nae tightroop walker, eh? 'ow can a wee dwarf in mighty armor hoop tae get acroos this blasted bridge? Can someon' lend mae a 'hand, eh? I don' wan' tae gae spillin' oon mae oonioon in t'drink."
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Don't we have to coup de grace the other snakey?
"Hold a tick while we get Rhuul out of there, and then you two can hold hands across the bridge," says Ishingka, a mite of her natural bravado restored after slaying the fearsome serpent.
Rowanna Nachtalus |
Rowanna waits patiently on the shore waiting for one of the others to cut Rhuul down, "Perhaps if you ask the summoner nicely, Orik, he can come up with a creature to ferry you across."
Ishingka Thulkarian |
Ishingka smiles sweetly at Shamak. "One moment, blade maestro. I've no knife on me." She then gently takes the falchion from the dripping bard and saws at the rope holding Rhuul, then hands it back hilt first once the dwarf is freed.
"Well, now whatever is in that dark, evil cloud knows we're here. Hey Cloud! See you in a moment!" she barks.
Shamak |
Shamak smiles back at Ishingka and lends his flachion with pleasure, making a curtsy bow, splashing water everywhere. "Please, help yourself."
When Rhuul falls in the river, he'll grab a rope in his backpack and throw it in the water, holding firm the other end.
