"Oh, think you're clever, hey!?" Ayla calls out to the skeletons as she takes a (five foot) step forward. She stows her crossbow and pulls out a vial of acid. "We'll see how you like this, ya' big, bloody, dog-treats!"

Unsure on the effectiveness of his arrows on the skeletal foes, Shiv forgoes his bow for his club, moving closer to the fray, as Makon hangs back to apply another magical oil to his axe, the blade starting to gleam with deadly potential under the various effects.
Wilen quickly activates and lobs a bob towards the shadowy circle, hoping to torch the nearest skeleton from a safe distance. Unfortunately, the creature proves harder to hit then expected, especially after taking cover behind the standing stones at the command of the one in the back. The halfling's bomb ends up going too high, and skips off the side of the menhir, to land on the ground on the rime-covered grass on the far side of its intended target!

Where it hits, flames burst out all around, splashing over the skeleton anyway, and managing to hit the next one over as well.
The nearer undead's mindless gaze never wavers, as it continues to stare at you even as its dry brittle bones ignite from the secondary blast. The second skeleton dances aside, as most of the flames spread harmlessly around its feet before snuffing out suddenly. Though the second only gets lightly singed, the heat proves more than a match for the necrotic energies holding the first together... it collapses to the ground before the flames finally flicker out, the strange bloody residue continuing to drip from its form, despite the blaze.
Naruda moves up quickly, once more lending some arcane guidance, this time to Wilen to help guide his next shot. Beside her, Ayla stows her crossbow, pulling out a small vial of acid in its stead.

"Time for that song's finale, shall we? Down with the undead!" Atronia steps forward, not wanting to go too far ahead, and starts singing her song again, her voice loud and clear.
Inspired rage again! Go ahead and take the Strength bonus etc if you want! For anyone who might want to use it, here is how it works: With inspired rage, any ally can accept it. It gives +2 Strength and Constitution (morale bonus), +1 to will saves and -1 to AC. However, those affected by it can't cast spells or use most Cha, Dex or Int based skills. Makon, if you want, you can use the stats from your own rage while accepting my song. If you do, it doesn't use up your rounds of rage, but you don't have access to rage powers and such. Also, you will not be fatigued at the end of it. For the GM, my stats while raging are in parenthesis. It also gives me fast healing 2.

EM±GM |

Atronia picks up her epic tale once more, her words riling up those of her companions that care to listen... and perhaps her story of light vs darkness is a little closer to home than you'd like...
...even as you watch, the rift in the center of the circle appears to widen a little more, and you barely catch a glimpse of something dark and shadowy squeezing through it... It quickly flies off into the darkness in the opposite direction. Whatever it was, it was relatively small, but even as you watch, you see shapes, some resembling arms and other other less identifiable appendages, from much larger entities, reaching through, and tearing at the edges of the rift, as if trying to speed up its expansion to let them through.
Clouds of dark energy, like greasy black fog continue to pour through, and congeal into the long writhing tentacles that lash about the ring. One of them just brushes against the skeleton so recently singed by Wilen's bomb, and where it touches, the skeletons damage seems to repair itself, leaving no evidence at all that it was ever damaged at all. Worse, a second tendril snakes out and wraps itself around the downed skeleton, almost like some sick mockery of tenderness. Right before your eyes, the blood-covered bones rise up and pull back together, until it stands before you once more, its lifeless eyes turning in your direction jaw open in a soundless scream!
The skeleton in the back once again barks a command in its hissing unnatural voice, and without any further warning, all three of the others suddenly race out of the circle entirely, intent on the living foes before them. Dark shadowy mist seems to fall off them as they move, trailing behind them like shedding water.
The recently revived skeleton and the one still holding the rusted remnants of a sword, charge towards Atronia! She is barely able to deflect the bloody claws reaching for her eyes, and has no chance at all at fending off the rusty blade. Despite its poor condition, it proves more than capable of cutting flesh, as the skeleton carves a ragged wound along her leg, narrowly missing a major artery. (6 damage to Atronia).
The last skeleton pushes its way through the trees along the edge of the path, coming out right beside Willen, clawing at the halfling with its reddened claws, scoring a long gash along the halfling's neck before he can pull himself away. (5 damage to Wilen)

Ooops, meant to include this above, after describing the tendrils 'healing' the skeletons... But forgot! Will pop it in here:
You will realize now (if it was not already obvious) that there is some sort of negative energy effect going on inside the standing stones.
You will also be able to conclude that the application of the opposite energy type (ie: positive (for you guys, probably just cure spells and Shiv's lay on hands)) might be able to mitigate, if not suppress, some of those effects... though based on the shadowy energy pouring from the rift, it probably would not be for long.

Gah, you did say that about the trees, sorry. Luckily that doesn't change my 1d8 roll for placement if it's a miss.
Regarding splash damage... Splash damage from an alchemist bomb is always equal to the bomb's minimum damage (so if the bomb would deal 2d6+4 points of fire damage on a direct hit, its splash damage would be 6 points of fire damage).
This doesn't seem to exclude any of the elements of a direct hit (which includes PBS). What am I missing?

They don't work well, so instead of normal light, the portal still sucks out energy, meaning it is dimly lit now inside the circle.

Unfortunately this is specific to spell effects that targets an area. Potions are consumables and don't work in the same way so it would not be able to suppress the negative space.
