Naruda has to make the safe first before she is stuck! Nonetheless combat is over for now! Good job everyone!
Shiv and Atronia are able to distrupt the runes uniform once more and pull out a couple more large runes from the mix. The remaining runes are unable to stay cohesive and soon they power down and fall straight to the ground.
The threat out here might be taken care of, but you hear loud noises of crashing coming from within the building clearly indicating that there is more work to be done!
Do any healing if required.. Pathfinders you may go back to the entrance and 1) head straight toward animated relics; 2) or to the right toward guard animals; 3) or to the left and upstairs toward clockworks.

Makon hears the dogs (going to assume the guard animals are dogs; if not please interject with any growl or other sound said animals would make), barking and growling in the distance, what's wrong with the puppies (animals)? Says Makon genuinely concerned...Should we go check it out? A hint of pity and desperation seeping in to his voice.

![]() |

”I agree, best to help out the living first, though I’m guessing our delicate curator would disagree.”

![]() |

Ayla laughs madly and tosses her little fist in the air as they take down the rune swarm so easily.
"Ha! Eat that!"
She starts to dance, bopping her butt wildly and waving around her crossbow.
"Oh, yeah! Oh, yeah!"
Hearing the others decide to check on the dogs, Ayla points off the proper direction.
"To the dogs!" she exclaims.

![]() |

For some reason I thought I had failed the save. Oh well, kind of moot since combat is over.
Naruda still has a charge of healing, if someone is willing to give her a congratulatory fist bump.

The Pathfinders rush into the museum straight towards where the guard dogs possibly are. Long shadows cast by ruined displays and broken furniture litter the floor. A humanoid-shaped figure made of shattered clockwork lies slumped over a bench. Above, an elaborately painted sign reads “Crusader’s Chronicles.”
Four dogs, one a little larger than the rest, are roaming about and turn to growl as you enter.
A quick check of your sheets suggest no one has handle animal or wild empathy, so we will go straight to combat!

I'm not picky about what she might want to know about dogs. Let's say we'll go into defensive stuff, like resistances, immunities, etc; just in case these aren't really dogs.
I guess dogs are the same where ever you are.
"I hate doing this, but it may just be best to take the beasts down."
Naruda fires a ray at the dog straight ahead of her.

Ayla attempt at a peaceful conversation is taken with hostility. The alpha dog barks back at her! "Ru do not comply to standard roperating procedure! You are not recognized ras ran rallii to the museum! Intruder intruder!"

Meanwhile, the rest of the pathfinders attempt to hold their ground which results in some backlash! Makon wounds the hostile dog.
Wilen, mechanically do you do any actions besides 5ft step?
Atronia is up!

Yes, I will now. Was just waiting to see if Ayla could achieve peace. That ship has sailed :)

Sorry for not posting earlier!
Caught unaware as she was thinking they would try to subdue the animals, Atronia yelps in surprise as she is brought to the floor by a very angry looking dog. She is a little confused when she hears Ayla bark, but figures it's magic and looks warily at the animal to see its reaction, which is obviously not positive.
Swallowing back the pain, she gets up and, towering over the dog, making herself as big as she can, she looks it straight in the eyes and shouts, "Down!" Sadly, the acute pain in her leg makes her voice quiver and she can't help but wince as she inadvertently puts her weight on the wounded leg.
intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

![]() |

A little rule clarification on Intimidate. Intimidate to improve attitude is mechanically a 1 minute action, a hostile creature would probably not let you intimidate it over the course of 10 rounds doing nothing and likely retaliates given the chance. Especially when they don't understand your speech. Intimidate would still have affect in combat but only to shaken your opponent.
In the case of diplomacy, it is also a one minute action but because it's a conversation it would make sense for it to play out if there was some kind of standstill if the other party wills it, which in this case could happen, but because the diplomacy check didn't pass, we continue into combat!
Wilen's bomb just misses the dog, but the heat expelled from the blast burns the alpha slightly. It limps and seems heavily injured but has yet to succumb to it's wounds.
The smaller dogs come to the alpha's aid as Atronia provokes them with a word that plays no affect on their psyche. The struggle for dominance ensues as the dogs form a perimeter defending against the Pathfinder intruders! Naruda and Atronia are wounded further in the fight.

"What? Cool it? Easy for you to say when it ain't your leg being gnawed off. I'll stop shooting when Scooby over there stops biting Atronia. How's that?"
As he says this, he trots over to get a clear shot on blue, and fires again.

Funny thing is that when I played Solstice Scar A, I played it as pregen Lini and managed to pacify the dogs without anyone suffering so much as a scratch. Complete opposite of this time. XD

I'm a little confused. Did he knock me prone again? I should probably have specified I was trying to get up (move action) and make the dog shaken. Which means I might be down because of the aoo. Bad choices on my part. In case it misses me with the aoo, I'll roll for an attack. Retcon the post if I'm unconscious.

Trip?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
As soon as Atronia gets up, she falls back down succumbing to the alpha's strong pull. I'll just assume you attacked from prone, and it still hits, and that the other attacks were directed to the last dog making it unconscious, hence ending combat!
The dogs clearly underestimated the prowess of the pathfinders. With your counterattacks you are able to quell the threat, but to a point where Atronia's angry retaliation outright kills the alpha.
The other three dogs are unconscious.
With the threat of the guard dogs running loose out of the picture, you are able to turn to focus on the other areas of the museum that are still filled with havoc!

Naruda uses her wand of mage armor on herself. Wilen, Ayla, would you also like in on this MAGE ARMOR?
All the choices sound dreadful...how about going after the clockworks?

![]() |

Atronia takes a deep breath to calm down as she looks at the dead dog, then turns around to start looking in her bag. she soon brings out her own wand of cure light wounds and uses it on herself. As she does so, she says, "If we are still thinking of making sure we don't leave anything behind us, shall we check those animated relics? Makon, I'm not sure if it's just RP or if you might be actually confused about the situation, but if you back track to the post with the Overseer update and my post after, it should be somewhat clear. But if you need any further clarifications do let me know how I can help. At the moment we're against the clock on encounters that earn successes to trigger the next phase of the scenario.
Wilen, Mage Armor does not stack with your regular armor. So your stats would actually FF 15, and AC 18.
Along the way to the relics, as you pass the entrance, the ulfen lieutenant greets you. "How fares your attempts? It seems you and the rest of the Pathfinders are starting to quiet down the place while Nigel continues working on the those magical defences upstairs, but there's still the relics and clockworks running loose! I'll leave you to it then, we'll continue to form the perimeter as your sort things out."
Straight into the main exhibition hall, under a sign that reads “The Shining Armory,” priceless Shining Crusade artifacts displayed on pedestals creak and move by some unseen force. Eerie light seems to dart between the objects while the din of a raging battle echoes throughout the chamber. The central feature is a low, artificial hill atop which stand two stuffed owlbears surrounded by shattered undead foes. Each of the beasts wears chainmail barding and an orange-and-black caparison depicting a stylized owlbear. A dead man dressed in furs lies on the floor before a suit of fullplate armor.

![]() |

Naruda realizes the banner is likely haunted! It's a construct mechanically = construct traits. While it doesn't have any special defences, it has similar features to a construct. Immune to Mind affecting and anything requiring fortitude.
Without wasting any time, the group rips the banner to shreads through whatever means they can! Daggers, Arrows, Axes, completely cut apart the banner rendering it useless.
The sneak and two crits immediately end the encounter! You guys are on fire! FF AC 14! Anything special you would like to do? Else we'll move to the clockwork in about 12 hours.
You're not able to identify the dead man lying on the floor, he clearly isn't one of the pathfinders or guards and doesn't really wear any distinguishing features.
Meanwhile, funny noises come from above you, likely the doing of the clockwork creatures the lieutenant mentioned earlier.

Atronia doesn't even have time to react to the familiar scene before everyone has torn the banner apart. "Makon, what did we say about artifacts last time? Well, too late for that."
She pauses for a moment, staring at the collapsed body. "Well, that's not part of the exhibit. What might have happened to the poor fellow? What was he even doing here?"

Wilen observes the banner, trying to figure out if it's even going to attack them when suddenly the group launches a flurry of attacks to shred it.
"Guys! Are we going to kill everything that moves in this place? We may as well set the building on fire and be done with it!"

He grins.
"One of my favourite teachings from the old fuddy-duddies."

![]() |

It's clear that the dead warrior succumbed to the slashing wounds across his chest. His fur outfit and weapons are primitive (and nothing useful for the Pathfinders), suggesting perhaps he came from a tribal background, likely that of a Kellid. However this raises more question than it does answers for the situation the museum faces. But with nothing much left on the ground floor, the group heads up the stairs to face the next danger.
Gears, glass, and chunks of wax litter the polished wood floor under a sign that proclaims “Scars of the Lich.” The corpse of another Kellid warrior lies in a pool of blood, her furs soaked through. A constant ticking and whirring sound echoes in this area. A few Pathfinders are engaged around the corner in battle with some clockworks!
Ahead of your path, an eerily expressionless shining crusader(?) with an unusual glistening quality, as though it's covered in an oily sheen, roams around the area and notes your entrance up the stairs! Although it has a face of a human, the expressions are featureless, like a wax figure, and you're definitely sure it gazes upon you with upon you with hostile intent!
Kn Arcana DC13 to identify the creature.
Naruda recognizes this to be a wax golem! Figurines that are given life through magical means. On a very rare off chance of potent magic, sometimes they develop a consciousness. No special attacks, but i'll give that as a freebie, so you are free to ask another one.
