Idrix Ashir
"I'm out of the big burns but I can keep going!"
He readies a fire bolt to throw at anyone entering.

Gelin keeps his rapier at the ready and moves to the side of the entrance so as to be just out of line of sight (if possible.)

More gruff shouts of surprise come from the room as an oil lamp spills across the bed, beginning to spread flames.
A bugbear, wearing an interesting jeweled eyepatch exits the room, drawing a massive morningstar when Zove's arrow clips the frame of the door and the heat of Idrix's fire bolt surges past its face to smack against the far wall. Behind him are two more bugbears.

Using the narrow hallways, the bugbears form a defensive circle, lashing out at Zove and Rory. Zove nimbly ducks beneath a brutal swing from the eyepatch bugbear while Rory casually bats away a weak swing from another. The third bugbear is unable to find enough room to attack, and holds a defensive posture.

Zove gulps on the edge of fear, this was going to be a brutal fight...he stood strong however, not wanting to abandon Rory. He drew his scimitars shouting out of the corner of his mouth "I'll hit the one you hit!"

The bugbears stand together well. Zove's right scimitar is met by a bugbear's shield. The quick elf brings his second blade in to the opening left, getting through enough of its hide armor to leave a mark. The bugbear is quick to step aside of the flames that Idrix conjures beneath it, but its swing at Zove is thrown off balance, missing wide.
On the other side of the hall, a bugbear brings its shield level with an overhead cut from Sildar, pulling it down in time to meet the second slash as well. Rory presses hard at Sildar's side, but his warhammer clangs with the bugbear's incoming morningstar. The third bugbear finds enough room to enter the fray, punching its morningstar into Sildar's side for 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 7) + 2 = 11 piercing damage. The warrior from Neverwinter roars in pain but holds his ground.

Idrix continues to produce flames below the bugbear in front of Zove, providing enough distraction to allow the elf to quickly down some magical healing, but it strikes before he can bring his scimitars back to bear, punching through leather for 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 6) + 2 = 14 piercing damage.
Gelin chants, revealing his presence, but two of the bugbears are suddenly outlined clearly with a violet light. Rory bats one of them back with two quick thumping swings of his hammer, one on each side. It is too far back on its heels, sailing its morningstar well above the dwarf.
The bugbear with an eyepatch avoids the faerie fire, but meets a rush from Sildar. He deflects the first strike wide with his shield, but fails to bring it back quickly enough, and the warrior quickly slashes through a gap in its armor, drawing blood. Its own attack in retaliation can't catch Sildar, who rolls away from it cleanly. It quickly locks eyes with Gelin long enough to shout back into the room in an unfamiliar language, "Droop! Mech daan taal'daraar o shuulkhar!"

Zove's first cut is met by the bugbear's shield, but his second is again too quick for the lanky creature, drawing blood again and pulling back before the bugbear's morningstar can reach. The elf's quick strikes are slowly but surely wearing the bugbear down, and it looks like it could fall dead with the poke of a finger. Its flesh again sears from the fire still raging beneath it.
Rory continues a similar assault, ducking its swing and thumping his hammer into the bugbear's thigh, wearing the creature down.
Gelin goes on the defensive, and Sildar feints a swing at the shield of the bugbear with the sparkling eyepatch to bring its defenses high, then cuts low, drawing another wound, then turns away from its morningstar as it crashes to the stone floor, missing again.

As it falls, the elf continues to the next bugbear, opening its throat before it notices his arrival. Rory leaps over the bugbear as it falls, cracking his hammer into the last bugbear's thigh. Gelin rushes forward and jabs his rapier painfully into the creature's backside, and Sildar finishes it off with a slash through its armor and into its heart.
The sound of weapons clashing gives way to silence.

The immediate threat neutralized, Zove drops to a knee a moment, his scimitar clanging on the cobbles, as he grasps his crushed arm and fashions a quick bandage "...were those spikes poisoned I may have fell...I fear I'll be not much use as is, perhaps I can still draw..." pulling his bow taught a few times with much effort.
He then goes about checking the bodies for equipment.
Idrix Ashir
Idrix saunters over and kicks a body.
"Bloody bugbears! We could take a rest since we have wounded here."
Short rest, anyone?
GM Barty
Two of the bugbears have nothing of interest on them, but the grizzled bugbear's eyepatch, made of black leather and set with semiprecious stones, looks like it could fetch some value. He also carries a belt pouch containing 33 silver pieces, and an iron key on a band around his neck.
If you would like to take a short rest, just let me know where and how long.
Idrix Ashir
Just looked at sheet and rules. I've never used them! So I do have 2 sorcery points left, so one more 1st level spell.
Rory Loudheim
While his more wounded companions catch their breath, Rory moves to interpose himself between them and the door the bugbears attacked from, against the chance there yet lurks some danger. "An' you, Sildar? Ye took some blows too -- I'd want either ye or Zove workin' with me up front if we're ta press on. No need ta be reckless, though, if a few minutes rest ta bandage and regroup would have us in better fightin' form."
Gelin Brooklane
Gelin wipes his blade clean and sheathes it. "I know we don't have all the time in the world but I really do think we need to catch our breath. I hear brushes with death aren't really healthy on this regular a basis."
If we short rest, everyone will get an extra 1d6 healing. It seems I too am forgetful of things at times...I also have 1 spell slot left.
Idrix Ashir
"Yeah, let's rest! Stoke up the fires!"
Zove
Zove takes a few moments to make the area more defensible, scooting bunk beds across the door, wedging a plank across another, etc. Finally the foreigner sighs and tries to collect his thoughts while listening to Gelin's song...

After helping Zove barricade the entrances, Rory will keep watch, though less tensely than before, with Gelin's music washing over them.
"A charmin' tune indeed - if a mite elfin for my tastes. Remind me ta teach ye some dwarven tunes - once we're not sneakin' about; regardless o' the subject they can only be sung at the top o' yet lungs."
Idrix Ashir
Away from the barricades, Idrix lights a fire with debris to get some warmth going. He rests close enough to it that others might find it dangerous.

"Looks good, eh!?"
And then the goblin cries out.
"Well! A goblin? Can someone tie it up so we can kip!?"
Rory Loudheim
"that...seems appropriate." Rory agrees, moving to bind the goblin, securely but without unnecessary roughness.
Gelin Brooklane
Gelin starts to play, but it promptly startled by the shrieking goblin. [His hand goes for his blade just as the goblin faints, prompting a raised brow. "Well he's not much of a survivor, is he?"
Idrix Ashir
Idrix lobs a ball of flame far above the the goblin's head where it impacts against the wall.
"Quiet down! Some of us are trying to take it easy! Unless you know where Gundren is? Dwarf?"
Rory Loudheim
Rory takes a knee in front of the goblin so as to not loom over it overmuch. "Calm down, now. So ye're Droop, eh? What did the big guy yell at'cha while we were fightin'? Mek dan something something?"
Gelin Brooklane
Gelin purses his lips a moment. "Oh right! He did yell for 'Droop' didn't he? Too bad I never learned to speak bugbear...was he telling you to help them fight?"
