Idrix Ashir
Idrix will drift to the middle of the order.
"Good luck, Zove!"
Gelin Brooklane
"You think one of them's a trap then? Maybe they have two hideouts?"
GM Barty
Lol, no worries!
With Rory bracing the rope around his waist, Zove steps onto the southern bridge, which seems stable with the first step. However, the ends of the bridge suddenly dislodge once the elf's weight fully shifts, tumbling into the crevasse. Rory holds fast, keeping Zove from suffering the same fate, but the momentum of the fall swings him into the side of the crevasse, taking 1d6 ⇒ 4 bludgeoning damage from the rough walls. The final pieces of the bridge join the jumble of rubble below, displaying a more grim fate that your precautions avoided.
Idrix Ashir
"Don't fall!", says Idrix with cupped hands, in a helpful mood.
Gelin Brooklane
Gelin peers over the edge of the new chasm, frowning. "Lot of trouble to build a trap bridge...maybe it's just old?"
GM Barty
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Don't forget to update your HP Zove
While Zove hangs from the rope awaiting Rory to pull him up, a loud cackle fills your minds.
"They does not come to bring food! No, no, revenge for red ones. But if there is no food, then they shall be food!" The voice rattles in your minds.
Rory Loudheim
Rory begins to haul up on the rope -- with more urgency after hearing the voices speak, apparently threateningly, in his head!
"No, ah hear it too!"
Idrix Ashir
Idrix is incensed.
"Show yourself!" , he shouts, looking around for the hidden voice.
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

Gelin scans the area, trying to spot the speaker. "You've got to teach me this trick!" he calls out to the disembodied voice.

GM Barty
The voice rings in your heads, "Will! Feed meeee!"
A hunched, grotesque aberration reveals itself from behind the pillar on the west side of the cavern. It would be tall if it were to stand upright, and its hunched back is covered with rock-like spines protruding asymmetrically. Its sinewed limbs end in long, jagged claws. Its fierce jaw and long teeth are comically small compared to its lone, massive eyeball.
Gelin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Idrix: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Gelin's eyes go wide at the sight of the strange creature. He pats Rory on the shoulder. "Well, good luck with whatever you're about to do about this!"

Idrix does his best to look concerned for the disgusting creature's welfare.
"Oh no! Look behind you! It's on fire!"

"Food, eh? See what ah got - an' maybe you can tell us a bit of what goes on around 'ere."
Rory rummages in his pack for a second, pulling out a pouch of jerky and attempt to throw it across the crevasse at/to the thing.
-1 ration. will use the bardic inspiration if you need a roll.
GM Barty
Fire appears near the creature, just as a day's worth of rations lands at the creature's feet. Its eye twitches and jaw quivers as the crazed voice speaks again in your minds, "Dry? Dry!? Live meat will I eat!" The creature turns its gaze toward Zove, who has sprinted across the northern bridge and is now 10 feet away.

The nothic ducks Zove's slice as the elf circle around it, keeping the creature between himself and the crevasse. Fire strikes the nothic's back, and radiant flame falls upon its shoulders, and its clawed hands cover its ears, as a scream fills your heads.
The nothic suddenly charges past Zove, running toward the southern set of steps that descend to the west.

dash - 50ft move
Gelin Brooklane
Gelin dashes to keep up with the group. "Never a dull moment!"
GM Barty
Zove's attack of opportunity and regular attacks happen but Idrix's movement does not bring him within sight of the nothic.

Zove feels his scimitar bite into nothic flesh as it flees from Gelin, and the elf follows closely as the rest of the party tries to catch up. Zove descends the set of steps, on the offensive. The nothic ducks away from the elf's first attack, but takes another cut on its side from the following scimitar. Blood drips from its wounds and mouth and its jaw twitches erratically.
Gelin, Rory and Idrix all cross the northern bridge.

Hearing blows exchanged beyond the stairs, Rory continues his rush to support Zove.
Dash - intent to end in melee with the nothic, ideally on the far side of it to cut off further retreat.
Gelin Brooklane
Gelin follows Zove down, rapier drawn. Once he lays eyes on the creature again, he whispers another spell, sending another scream directly into its mind.
dissonant whispers: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3) = 10
GM Barty
One final scream echoes through your minds, and is cut off as [b]Zove[b] brings his blade across the nothic's eye with a heavy slash. The creature crumples lifelessly to the stone floor.
The chase has brought you to the top of a staircase that descends to a narrow, single-file hallway. Further down, there is a closed door to the south, and the hallway turns to the right. Behind you is the large cavern with the crevasse.
Idrix Ashir
"Anyone checking that door?"
Zove
Breathing heavily "In all my travels I've never seen its like...why would the Redbrands keep such a strange guardian...?" he ponders.
Hmm, were there other exits in the room with the 2 bridges besides these stairs? Let me check back sec...
edit: yep looks like a small room and another hall on this level. Fine descending here though.
Straight ahead of you across the southern bridge, is a narrow hallway with a descending set of stairs. To the north, you see a smaller room cut into the cavern. Across the northern bridge, you can just make out another narrow hallway to the west. Both sides of the crevasse are narrow.
Zove cautiously inspects the hall and the door before opening it...
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
...but some of the nothic's eyeball juice splashed in his eye, and he keeps winking involuntarily.
GM Barty
Once at the door, Zove sees that after the hallway turns, it ends after 10 feet at another closed wooden door to the north. Both doors have iron handles, hinges, and built-in locks.
Tracking:
There are two doors in this hallway, one to the north and to the south.
The hallway exits to the east into the cavern with the crevasse.
Idrix Ashir
"Any tracks?"
Survival: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Gelin Brooklane
"Long as we see them before they see us, right?" Gelin exhales as he falls in with the group.
"Though, I'm a bit drained, to be honest. No real spells left. Just putting that out there..."
Rory Loudheim
"Might as well try this one?" Rory indicates the closest (south?) door to Zove. "Ye want me ta take the lead this time, or ye happy continuin' ta get beat up on?"
Zove
"The day is long, but I have some fight left in me yet, my friend. I will admit the moisture of this Coast is ruining my Zakharan armor though, I should hope to find a replacement soon." he tears off a few small flakes of white leather; once sun scorched and now soggy, brittle like wet newspaper.
Zove opens the south door, again using the mage hand rope trick if possible.
