Something here, wasn't there grease in front of the door?
Also, Marduk took 5ft distance (up) after being asked to move back for the grease, prior to combat commencing.
I moved myself up to the square. I doubt she lacked movement to get to me, though.

@Marduk: No to the grease as Aspex could either cast mage armor or grease and I went with her first statement. As far as movement, she still has enough movement to reach you even if you were 5' back, to where your avatar currently is.

The leopard angrily charges towards Gob!

Shasta moves a bit closer while drawing her whip and continuing her song, "Shoot 'em through the chest with white-hot lightning / Hit 'em with a fist of a monk that's frightening / Shoot 'em full of arrows ..."

Maintaining Inspire Courage

Then she cuts short her song and says, "My word, you're all so ugly, I'll bet you turned the basilisk to stone!"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

As she says this, she cracks her whip and an invisible wave of energy washes over her enemies, causing those intimidated by her moxie and razor wit in the face of the enemy to be briefly enveloped in flames.

fire damage: 1d10 ⇒ 5
Catching on Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Spell and Intimidate Details:
Intimidate: The DC of this check is equal to 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier.
Success: If you are successful, the target is shaken for one round. This duration increases by 1 round for every 5 by which you beat the DC. You can only threaten an opponent this way if it is within 30 feet and can clearly see and hear you.

Spell effect: Enemies that are demoralized this way take 1d10 points of fire damage and must succeed at a Reflex save (DC 15) or catch fire. Spell Resistance can negate the fire damage caused by this spell, but does not protect the creature from the demoralizing effect.

Catch Fire: If a character's clothes or hair catch fire, he takes 1d6 points of damage immediately. In each subsequent round, the burning character must make another Reflex saving throw. Failure means he takes another 1d6 points of damage that round. Success means that the fire has gone out—that is, once he succeeds on his saving throw, he's no longer on fire.

A character on fire may automatically extinguish the flames by jumping into enough water to douse himself. If no body of water is at hand, rolling on the ground or smothering the fire with cloaks or the like permits the character another save with a +4 bonus.

Those whose clothes or equipment catch fire must make DC 15 Reflex saves for each item. Flammable items that fail take the same amount of damage as the character.

I'm hoping that the cracking of the whip might cause the leopard to be intimidated as well, even though it can't understand her words.

Deepmarket handouts Deepmarket maps

Intimidate is only against one target with an ability or feat that allows it like Dazzling Display. Please pick a target to get burned and burned.

For the RP'ing, I'll allow it against the leopard with a minor penalty.

The skill limits one to only one target but the spell implies that the magic allows it to work on all enemies within 30'.

SRD wrote:
You unleash an insulting tirade so vicious and spiteful that enemies who hear it are physically scorched by your fury. When you cast this spell, make an Intimidate check to demoralize each enemy within 30 feet of you.

Ultimately, your call, of course. It is a second level spell, so I'd expect it to be a bit more powerful than it would be if it only worked on one enemy. If forced to limit it to just one, will choose Aspis Red.

Edit: There is a considerable discussion of various aspects of the spell here (link). The question of number of targets does not come up, but most posts refer to "targets", plural, so I would think that supports multiple targets can be intimidated by one casting of the spell.

Ahh, if the spell allows you to Intimidate in a an area like that, then that is fine and I'll check later to see who got burninated.

Shasta wanted to resume inspiring courage in her friends with her zingers or her music, but the big guy with the 15' spear was going to be a big problem so long as he threatened such a wide area with his weapon.

She drew her whip and sent it at his spear, trying to wrap around the shaft and yank it free of his grasp. All her practice with the whip paid off as she was able to use it against the man without giving him an opening to attack her.

Move action to draw whip, standard action combat maneuver to disarm using whip. Does not provoke an AOO due to whip mastery feat.

CM disarm: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

"Put that down before you hurt anybody else!" she scolds.

Deepmarket handouts Deepmarket maps

Actually, I need to check that. I believe the Whip Mastery feat allows you to make attacks with the whip without provoking (as normally it does), but I don't believe the feat allows you to make combat maneuvers with the whip without provoking. I'm going to check it quickly, but my gut reaction is that it will provoke an AoO. Thus, if I cannot find anything that Whip Mastery also covers combat maneuvers, do you still want to do it?

EDIT: I cannot find anything that says Whip Mastery allows you to not provoke as you normally would when making combat maneuvers; it just applies to normal attacks. Please let me know if you wish to risk the AoO and still disarm or you want to do something else.

EDIT 2: Actually, let's see if Wyeth can make things easier in your favor...

Wyeth remembers the line, 'the bigger they are...' and tries to trip the large Zaril!

Wyeth concentration: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Zaril will on success: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Aspis Blue Will: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Aspis Red Will: 1d20 ⇒ 19

Wyeth tries to bane the Aspis team, Zaril's imposing reach causes the oracle to botch the first word of the spell.

All to you Shasta.

See my post on the discussion board as to why I think she should be able to disarm or trip without provoking an AOO. In a nutshell, if the combat maneuver is an attack and she's using the whip to make it, then the feat should cover it.

Shasta will risk the AOO if she is provokes it.

Deepmarket handouts Deepmarket maps

Replied. My nutshell is I'm allowing it, but with hesitation still.

Incidentally, I checked all the numbers... and you got it on the dot :P

Shasta's flicks her whip and manages to snatch the large spear out of Zaril's hands and it lands on the floor next to him.

"You, woman, shall die slowly, as I feed slices of your flesh to the dogs!"

The Aspis agent that deafened Gob grabs a bag and tries to hit Marduk with it!

Aspis Blue Ranged touch @ Marduk: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 - 4 = 3
Marduk Reflex on hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

However, the bag explodes in goo next to Marduk and Wyeth.

Hakime's last arrow hits Zaril, but then the large man reverts back to normal human size. Oddly, some of the arrow wound manages to heal up as well.

The other Aspis agent tries to use a tanglefoot bag on Marduk, too!

Tanglefoot bag @ Marduk: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 1 - 4 = 11
Marduk Reflex on hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

The nimble half-orc easily avoids it!

Zaril then grabs his spear, smiling as he steps closer to Shasta. "Now, it is my turn and I do enjoy this part!"

He whispers something to his spear and it seems to become even more lethal!

Zaril longspear @ Shasta: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 19
Damage on hit: 1d8 + 5 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 6 + (1, 2) = 22

The spear runs through Shasta's lithe form; she knows another wound like that would be the end of her!

"Get him! Get him lady bigfoot!", the kobolds cheer in Draconic, still hopeful that the Pathfinders can hold off these foes.

Is the thing across the middle of the room a bridge or a wall? I want to see what happens with Wyeth and Aspex before deciding what Shasta will do.
