Angela Isafira |
As soon as the first one gets in range, Angela gives Stonelance and the doctor a quick gesture indicating the group is here. She then takes aim and fires at the first one.
______
Seeing as no on is out here with Angela why don't we put the barricade across the doors? Also I don't know if indicating to people in the room that they're coming would blow their stealth rolls or not so I'll try bluffing it.
Bluff to pass a secret message: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Crossbow vs FF?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d8 ⇒ 6
Dr Nibbles Whiskerson |
Not seeing any others take the man's offered items, Whiskerson shrugs and snags one, rubbing the contents over his spiked gauntlet.
Tugging a syringe free from his stash, the man awaits the arrival of their foes. 'I sure hope this goes better than those damned spiders.' he considers. 'I'm 'bout out of elixirs!'
Patting the flask at his hip, ensuring it's still there, he prepares for combat.
GM Fuzzfoot |
"Ugh! Message for you, sir!"
The first thug in line takes a bolt in the shoulder, and breaks it off as they all start running toward you. "Yer gonna pay for that, Almsman!"
It looks like 5 men are rushing down the hallway. They are still 20' from the barricade after a double move.
Round 1: (Bold may act)
Steel Wyvern Thugs: Orange, Green, Blue (6 dmg), Yellow
Red Leader
Baltzar, Yelek, Angela, Syl'las, Dr Whiskerson, Stonelance
Yelek Hssar |
Yelek waits for the opposition to come into range with his greatsword on the ready...
Yelek attacks the first thug coming close to him
Syl'las Morbos |
Syl'las delays waiting for them to enter the room..
Dr Nibbles Whiskerson |
Listening to the his companions outside the door, Dr Whiskerson looks down at his syringe. 'Perhaps, I should try a less subtle approach this time.'
Realizing suddenly, he'd put the oil on his gauntlet without confirming what it was, he whispers to his companions in the room "Uh, did anyone actually figure out what was in the vials the Almsman gave us?"
Ready to whack the first enemy with my gauntlet
Spiked Gauntlet: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Spiked Gauntlet Confirm?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Crit Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Angela Isafira |
Angela glances at Yelek. "That's more than we expected, Yelek! Retreat! We might be able to hide in the upper levels of the temple, with the gold." she shouts as she backs up into the sanctuary. Inside she lightly tosses her crossbow away and draws out her longspear. Readying for for the enemy, and hopefully Yelek, to come through the the doorway.
_____
Angela is going to take a move action to move back into the sanctuary, free to drop weapon and move to draw her longspear.
Also, RePete, I hope whatever the oil was boosts your damage because a critical that does only two damage is just too sad to contemplate
Baltzar Sarkozi |
Baltzar moves around the sarcophagus and readies his spear to stab any Steel Wyverns cresting the stairs.
Spear Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
GM Fuzzfoot |
The thugs begin to close, as Angela pulls back to join the others. Yelek, however, stands his ground. Everyone else readies attacks.
Round two.
The thugs approach Yelek, spinning their spiked chains and grinning. "Time for you to die, sewer spawn!"
And then Yelek cuts him in half, both pieces dropping into the water.
The next one in line, however, charges right in. He slips on the blood, though, so the chain hits the wall.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 2 = 7
The leader uses his whip to reach Yelek from afar, and succeeds in pulling the greatsword out of his hands.
Disarm Attempt, soft cover: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 4 = 19
"Get him!"
The others move forward. The first one can't find a way through, but the last thug spins deftly along the edge, managing to get past Yelek, and attacking him from his flank. Luckily, the maneuver left him too dizzy to make good on the attack.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6
Round 2: (Bold may act)
Steel Wyvern Thugs: Orange, Blue, Yellow
Red Leader
Baltzar, Yelek (unarmed), Angela, Syl'las, Dr Whiskerson, Stonelance
Baltzar Sarkozi |
Hearing the pitched battle, Baltzar moves into the sewer.
"Yelek! You are surrounded!"
He hurries over to harry the Steel Wyvern flanking the nagaji.
Required a double move.
Syl'las Morbos |
So much for the plan
Syl'las remains poised and at the ready by the door.
Yelek Hssar |
Yelek gives a low irate hiss as he drops his greatsword on the ground. His muscles bungle as he drops on his knees and recovers the blade.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 -> Damage roll: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 3) + 9 = 16
Activate rage, move actions that provokes to get the greatsword, standard action to attack the opponent in front of Yelek
Angela Isafira |
Hearing the sounds of Yelek chopping the first man in half, Angela gives a smile and waits for his face to appear in the doorway. The smile turns into a frown as she hears the sounds of metal clattering on the floor and the triumphant sounding orders from the leader. She pauses, unsure of what to do and judging her options as Bltzar rushes out of the room and gives his exclamation. Her frown of confusion drops into a look of rage. She takes a deep breathe, Abadar dammit, he's completely ruining the plan! We were supposed to ambush them in here! She gives a short sigh and stomps down the stairs and into the hallway. Then in a voice that might best be compared to a white-hot iron she comments, "Yelek, What in the Outer Planes are you doing? This was not the plan! As soon as you can I want you to retreat!" She comments as she moves closer and tries to distract the enemy behind Yelek from hitting the bloodrager.
______
Move to get closer, and, if she can with the soft cover, a standard to aid another to give a bonus to Yelek's AC
Aid Another AC boost, Helpful: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
I'm not sure if flank can apply to this so i left it out of the calculation. Edit: Not that it matters anyways. Yay low roll! sigh
If I may, can we try to move this back into the sanctuary? I know Yelek can probably handle this on his own just fine, but if we keep the combat in the hallway, about half the group is not going to be able to do much or anything... Which isn't as bad in this format as at a table but still is probably not that interesting.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Sorry, this was my mistake! I tried to post when I was too busy to be checking all I needed to, and I failed to recall 2 things: first, that movement through an opponent was at 1/2 speed, and also the +5 DC. The first could have just been a double move instead of move and attack, but there is no getting around the +5. So, we move back yellow to the first open spot (which is his start location), and no one managed to get past Yelek. However, neither provokes an AoO, I believe, since Yelek is unarmed. If for some reason I am missing something, go ahead with AoO against one or both. Because of this, Baltzar and Angela may redo their actions. I don't think this would change Yelek's choice, and the readied actions can stay as well.
As Yelek bends to retrieve his weapon, green attempts to trip hip with his chain. Yelek dodges the chain, picks up his sword, and cuts the man down.
Trip attempt: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 2 = 11
Round 2: (Bold may act)
Steel Wyvern Thugs: Orange, Yellow
Red Leader
Baltzar, Yelek, Angela, Syl'las, Dr Whiskerson, Stonelance
Angela Isafira |
Angela is going to do the same thing as her post earlier minus the moving in to help and instead will ready an attack if anyone gets close enough.
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
GM Fuzzfoot |
Since we haven't heard from Dr. Wiskerson, I will just keep his readied action ready.
The leader begins to sing the Steel Wyvern's fight song, inspiring his thugs to fight better.
Orange steps forward and swings his chain at the nagaji.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Apparently, inspiration is not enough.
Round 3: (Bold may act)
Steel Wyvern Thugs: Orange, Yellow
Red Leader
Baltzar, Yelek, Angela, Syl'las, Dr Whiskerson, Stonelance
Yelek Hssar |
Silent and grim Yelek advances on the next thug in line...
Power attack roll: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 9 - 1 = 26 -> Damage roll: 2d6 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 9 + 3 = 17
Edit:
... butchering him as well, pity being an alien concept to the bloodthirsty Nagaji...
Just to be clear: I chose this position considering the layout of the map and Yelek's strengths. One on one this is the optimal solution for Yelek and the group since he can't easily be surrounded and can face an enemy at the time bringing his superior strength to bear. Yet I'm well aware optimal doesn't always mean fun. If you want I'm willing to move back so everyone can have a piece of the opposition
Dr Nibbles Whiskerson |
Intrigued by the continued sounds of fighting, the rodent sticks his head out the door. 'Well, it's going better than the last fight, if not according to plan.'
Stowing his syringe, he draws the remaining flask he'd prepared that morning. 'This may be more handy here' he considers.

Angela Isafira |
Angela gives a sigh as everyone seems to come streaming out of the sanctuary. The best laid plans.... "Syl'las, I don't know if there's anything you can do out here but it's no use trying to hide any further." With another aggravated sigh she rushes up behind the large Nagaji, mumbling something about "This not being the most efficient..." But she still takes a moment to prepare and attempt to provide a distraction nonetheless.
______
Move to get closer and Readied standard to use aid another to boost defense.
And after looking at the soft cover rules and Aid Another rules, I don't think it applies here (Aid another is an attack roll and would probably get the same bonuses and penalties, but soft cover adds +4 to the opponents AC, but AA ignores their actual AC and replaces it with AC 10, but it might still apply to that, so I'm not sure...
Readied Aid another: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
GM Fuzzfoot |
The leader continues his song, but the situation looks grim. Yellow steps up to attack, and just misses Yelek.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 + 1 = 15
Whip Disarm: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7
OK, Yelek - have at him.
Round 4: (Bold may act)
Steel Wyvern Thugs: Yellow
Red Leader
Baltzar, Yelek, Angela, Syl'las, Dr Whiskerson, Stonelance
Yelek Hssar |
Hissing softly, almost hypnotically, Yelek raises his greatsword again...
Power Attack roll: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 1 = 22 -> Damage roll: 2d6 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6) + 9 + 3 = 19
And another thug falls dead on the ground!
Baltzar Sarkozi |
"Well," Baltzar says as he loads his sling, "If only the spiders had been dealt with so easily."
He whips a stone at the leader.
Sling vs Cover: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (14) - 4 = 10
Sling: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Dr Nibbles Whiskerson |
Stepping out into the sewer passage, Dr Nibbles glances towards the gory mess surrounding Yelek. 'Well, this is going quite well' he considers.
Quickly moving to the back of the group, he announces "I'll stand out of your way for now. If you need me, I'll hop it. Keep it up Yelek!"
Syl'las Morbos |
Syl'las stows her blade, and moves out to the hallway. Drawing her blowgun as she moves.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Correct. And Stonelance could fire if he likes (soft cover applies unless you move to the front, though.
Stonelance |
Sorry, I miss read that. Lets rewind.
Stonelance raises his crossbow and quickly places the thug leader in his sights and slowly squeezes the trigger.
crossbow (pbs) vs touch ac: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 1 = 18
damage (pbs): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
I have precise shot, does cover still apply?
Standard Action:
Sharp Shoot (Ex) At 1st level, a bolt ace can resolve an attack against touch AC instead of normal AC when firing a crossbow at a target within its first range increment. Performing this deed costs 1 grit point.
Move:
Reload
GM Fuzzfoot |
Unfortunately, it does, but you don't get a penalty for firing into melee (which wouldn't apply here anyway). But since you are against touch AC, the hit is still good!
The leader takes a bolt in the chest, but he seems of sterner stuff.
Angela?
Round 4: (Bold may act)
Red Leader (9 dmg)
Baltzar, Yelek, Angela, Syl'las, Dr Whiskerson, Stonelance
Angela Isafira |
Angela looks around and trys to decide what to do next, not seeing much else in the way of options, she gives a sigh and pushes past the Nagaji. She prepares to try assist the man on his next attack.
______
Aid another with soft cover?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
GM Fuzzfoot |
Unfortunately, you may not get your chance. The leader casts a spell, and then very quickly runs away.
Unless someone can keep up with a move rate of 60', I think he is going to escape.
Angela Isafira |
Wait Angela is still threatening him, unless she can't take an AoO or you used the roll from last time, which was admittedly sucky...
As soon as the man starts to cast his spell, Angela lashes out with her longspear, while shouting, "I've had TOO MANY things go wrong today, you running and gathering reinforcements is not going to be one of them!"
_____________
AoO longspear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
GM Fuzzfoot |
I didn't see your icon move on the map, and didn't think you had 15' reach. Where is Angela exactly? Still, I do see where you wrote you were moving up to aid.
Concentration vs DC 14: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
"Ack!"
But it looks like his spell is still successful.
Angela Isafira |
Opps, I thought I had moved her in front of Yelek. She's in the right spot now
Yelek Hssar |
Yelek runs towards the fleeing leader and places himself near him, releasing a low hiss as he approaches...
Run until reaching the enemy square in order to threaten him if he tries to run away again
Edit Confirm?: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 9 - 1 = 18 -> Damage roll: 2d6 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 9 + 3 = 16
GM Fuzzfoot |
Unfortunately, Yelek, I really don't think that will work. He has a faster move rate, and will keep withdrawing to avoid AoO. Running is also only allowed in a straight line with no difficult terrain, both turns and jumping over water is common enough in this sewer. Would have been a heck of a hit, though.
Yelek Hssar |
That's not a problem, Yelek has a movement speed of 40ft, but even that is not enough to keep up with 60ft. I could have charged but the line wasn't clear unfortunately. A pity, Yelek doesn't like to leave survivors. XD"
Yelek runs after the escaping thug leader but, given his foe's superior speed is quickly forced to give up and gets back to the others hissing lowly as a sign of irritation.
Baltzar Sarkozi |
"Hopefully, he does not return with reinforcements," Baltzar says as he heads into the sanctum, "Let us tell the Almsman that they are safe for now. We may need to track the Wyverns back to their hideout to truly ensure their safety, though." His expression suggests that he does not relish that plan.
GM Fuzzfoot |
You head back to the Almsman, who seems disappointed that the leader escaped, but the loss of his men will likely help for a while. Meanwhile, he now has a door to try and put back on.
"In any case, you did help us as promised, and so I will do the same. The "Prince" resides behind a door not far from here."
He gives directions, and it will be easy to find.
GM Fuzzfoot |
The Almsman’s directions lead to a heavy wooden door. A sign on the door is partially obscured by grime and moss, and the word “Skytower” is still barely legible.
Dr Nibbles Whiskerson |
"Thank you sir." Replies the doctor as they head out. Glancing back to the removed door, he mumbles, "Uh, sorry 'bout that..."
Looking at the door, and back to his companions, he suggests in a hushed voice. "Shall I scout it out?"
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
In case it's still dark, I have darkvision 60'
