The last light of Manhattanhenge fads and the gathered crowds begins to disperse when screams of terror erupt in the distance. making your way through the now running and panicking mob. When you get to the source of disturbance you take in the scene of large armored 4 legged things using silvery guns to shoot globs of green goo at the fleeing men and women. The sticky goo glues the victims in place allowing other 4 legged creatures collect them and carry them into a large hole in the street.

First making sure that Mandy has found cover and is safe, Tabitha rushes down an alleyway and emerges a few moments later in the guise of Liberteen! Activating her Hyper-Strength, she leaps clear of the crowd and makes her way to the site of the action.

Taking aim at the nearest creature, she shouts, "Hey! Bug-breath! Why not pick on someone who can defend herself?" With that, she tries a solid punch at the creature.

Hmm, this must be why I was drawn here. I wonder if these guys are from the same lab?

Chris leaps up towards a wall, his biomass seeping up from within to coat him, then leaps off the wall right at the nearest bugman, his left fist turning into a large shield and his right fist into a large, boulder-like lump of solid mass, which he uses to smash the bugman's gun so it cannot glue any more civilians!

Chris 114 wrote:

It's easy, if you hit or are hit you enter the power level of the attack in the damage level box and the result of the resistance roll in the check box and click the submit button, the result will be highlighted. When you hover over the highlighted box it tells what the damage is. For example you hit with a modified 12PL attack and the baddie rolls a modified total of 23 on his resistance, enter 12 in the damage level box and 23 in the check box and hit submit, a blue box is the highlighted result indicating a -1 penalty check.

ah, ok. This combat will be a good refresher for me on how combat works.

Female Hero Points: 3 The Cat

It had not taken very long for the whole scene to erupt into chaos, at first Jo hadn't even been able to pinpoint exactly WHY everyone was freaking out but then she spotted the first of the creatures, large insectoid creatures wielding strange gun-like weapons, thankfully the guns only appeared to be shooting a strange sort of goo at people ultimately leaving them trapped but seemingly unharmed. It was simple enough to use the insanity of the crowd and how distracted everyone was to find somewhere suitable to slip into her suit and pull on the cowl however once Jo was gone and The Cat was out and ready for action she realized something rather important.

What the hell was she going to DO fighting weird bug people was not exactly her normal m-o and hell fighting in general was something she preferred to avoid at all costs, but of course there were people in danger and if these creatures were simply restraining people then perhaps they were the source of the rise in dissaperances around the city. For the moment Jo decided to take to slightly higher ground (either climbing a nearby building wall or up a light post to get a better view) Once up a bit higher Jo let the cowl do it's work allowing her to get a far better view on what was really going on and trying to pinpoint a approximate number on how many of these things there were and what exactly they were up to if anything aside from gooping up a bunch of seemingly random people.

To her surprise as she scanned the quickly thinning crowd as people attempted to put as much distance between them an the insects Jo spotted a few people who like herself were not fleeing, some in fact even outright fighting back against the insects. As Jo began to use the cowl to try and pick out weak points on the insects she made a call to the Cradle hoping dearly that this was an isolated event ant not something that might be going on near the shelter as well James, David, whoever's on the computer I need you guys to keep an eye on the news and the streets... something really weird is going on here. and with hat Jo would snap a few quick pictures of the creatures and send those back to the Cradle "If you can find out anything on these things give be a buzz"

Assesment on Insect People{Insight vs Deception}: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

@Liberteen - Leaping into the midst of the ensuing chaos Liberteen focuses on the closest attacker delivering a verbal quip and fist to the face.
Liberteen's blow hits it's mark, resistance check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27, but the creature's armored hide absorbs her attack.

@Chris 114 - Almost at the same moment that Liberteen enters the fray 114 leaps down from a nearby building and promptly, resistance check attack 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
resistance check attack 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18, destroys the guns of two of the attackers. Rather than make you re-roll I applied the appropriate adjustments and had you attack two bugmen instead of one.

The creatures seem confused by the sudden appearance of people that fight back instead of running away.

@Qnetic - Qnetic swoops down over the confused creatures, talking among himselves, and easily yanks it's gun away DC25: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 with his telekinesis.

@Capt. Cosmos - The Capt. finally pushes his way past the fleeing crowds and after a quick assessment of the situation gives a couple of brief commands to his sidekick ATHENA then shoots the nearest creature hauling away a captive. The Capt. hits the creature squarely but the stun function doesn't appear to have had any effectDC20: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19.

Female Hero Points: 3 The Cat

"Alright James, have the others keep an eye out for anything odd and hold down the fort until we know more about all of this if it spills out any further than here start putting the building on lock down as quietly as you can." Jo spoke into her comm and as she did so the cowl began to pick up more signals, one a garbled mess of communication between two people though what she did pick up made it seem very unlikely that it was a police signal as no police were on the scene yet and those talking were referencing the fight, and the other... the other just seemed to be an odd source of radio static coming from the insects.
she

The radio static from the antennae of the insects and the way they moved and acted without any obvious individuality seemed to indicate enough to her that they were being guided by something or someone. Unfortunately fighting giant insects was not something Jo had had much time to practice. But the others seemed to be doing well enough of a job at dealing with them that perhaps physical intervention would not be necessary quite yet. With that in mind Jo began to tune her radio comm attempting to find a better frequency in order to get in contact with whoever else was out there.

"Hello, am I coming through?" Jo spoke once she settled on what she believed to be the right frequency "Here's hoping you can, those things are being guided by something and there guidance is probably based off radio waves, not sure what you guys have but if you can figure out a way to jam there signal they might just fall apart tactically." Jo said as she began to move around the battlefield, if her assumption on how they functioned was right then there was a chance they would focus on the attackers over her as she attempts to move around to get into a better position to either identify some form of weakness on these creatures to hopefully relay over the comm or to find which if any of them happened to be the one running things.

whichever is relevant both have the same modifier.
Insight/Investigation: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

"Hello, am I coming through?" "Here's hoping you can, those things are being guided by something and there guidance is probably based off radio waves, not sure what you guys have but if you can figure out a way to jam there signal they might just fall apart tactically."

@Cat - assuming that you're not trying to hide from them, the bugmen practically ignore Cat as she moves about the battlefield. The only time they act aggressive towards her is when she gets too close (around 3 meters). When Cat does get too close to a bugman it turns it's antenna at her and she again hears the radio static.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 The creature spends an uncomfortable few seconds with it's attention focused on Cat before it turns it's attention back to the girl in the white spandex bodysuit with a blue star and red cape.

-0 to resistance

well i dont know which is which of the two values to put in the calculator, but i tried once with the DC (25) and once with what i assumed to be the PL (DC-10=15)

@Chris 114 - The damage chart is only used to determine how much you are effected from a damaging attack, getting hit by a laser, punched real hard and so on.
Afflictions, grabs, blinding, deafening and non-damaging attacks that apply an effect are a straight save vs effect roll, you're either effected or you're not effected depending if you make your save. How badly you fail your save determines how badly you are effected by the power.
The acid would be a straight save, 1d20+fortitude vs DC. If you save no effect. If you fail the attack's effect gets applied to you.
With your roll you failed your save and the acids effect gets applied to you.
If this was a damaging attack the you would compare the power level of the attack vs your your toughness+1d20 on the damage chart to determine how badly you got hurt. i.e PL7 vs your roll of 24 = no damage.

I should have noted this on the attack blurb, will do that in the future to avoid confusion.

@Capt Cosmos - apply the fatigue to ATHENA as she is the one preforming the action.

Capt. Cosmos blasts BM5 with his PPG, RC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23, slightly damaging it.

-0 to resistance

toughness resistance, impervious 10: 1d20 + 16 - 8 ⇒ (1) + 16 - 8 = 9

-8 is for the halved value of his resistance

Female Hero Points: 3 The Cat

Will vs Radio Jam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

If only evasion worked on will effects! Is the impairment a blanket -2 to everything or does it just specifically effect radio commutation/sense checks?

Unless the radio is tied into your senses (sight, hearing, etc.) it just effects your radio commutation/sense checks.

Cat still your turn.

@Chris 117, I don't think that Vulnerable applies to Toughness rolls. It applies to active defenses: Dodge and Parry.

• Vulnerable: Vulnerable characters are limited in
their ability to defend themselves, halving their active
defenses (round up the final value). Defenseless
supersedes vulnerable.

Resistance: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Resist Affliction: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

That puts Liberteen at incapacitated, but at least she resisted the acid!
