OK then the +5 moves to Barid, I will take his +4 and sell my +3.
Note I got a TON of loot, so I will abstain from the next round, unless no one casn use it at all.
6521 per person is the finaltally of gold per person.
DM are we able to find an purchase clerical wands...such as a wand of lesser restoration? I will purchase one for the group out of my funds. Though Tarwas will heal his damage with some rest.
I've made the changes in my account as far as the cloak is concerned.
Belsiard the Wanderer
great when it comes can you let me know just how secure the place is now, and how far the underground hideout is come along. i wont be able to do it again till i hae 10 charages to burn
Ynaeve Amryln
I can do magic crafting (wondrous, wand, staff), but it will be slow if I am breaking it up due to combat's etc.
With the original DM I had already researched a divine spell as arcane, at +1 min CL.
If we are not likely to add anyone that is a divine caster, then expanding that list to include some minor healing/restoration spells would make sense, especially for mythic, and a chosen of mystra.
I did a little research in another game about mining and time involved. Without explosives, digging a hole in rock by hand is days per foot.
Stone Shape (which I have) or transmute rock to mud (I don't have) would be way faster, then use the lyre to muck out the tunnel.
Since we seem to be running into a lot of demons with lightning attacks, would we be able to mitigate their effectiveness with placement of metal grounding rods around/in the warehouse?

Hm, grounding rods may help the building itself against electrical damage directed at it. But magic goes beyond natural scientific laws (as we know it)- for simplicity's sake and by definition. If anyone starts talking about making a massive cannon that fires by nearly instantly vaporizing a cell of water with a lightning bolt...
Sorry, that's unnecessary- getting a feel for how effective this base should be. Might take a while tonight!
Belsiard the Wanderer
i figure it is not super effective currently. i figure it is now fully resistant to the sun, hopefully well fortified with decent defenses. Maybe a hidden area has been at least begun.
perhpas you can let us know what ideas that good engineering roll ynaeve made suggests we do.
Also folks what kind of healing things should we get?
I am going to buy a wand of lesser restoration, also i would want to bump my buckler to a +5 from a +4
@ Ynaeve when I take over I am suspect there will be a little bit of downtime for some crafting to be done...not a ton but something could be done then

By my estimate, you've got about 20 years worth of labor done if you did a workday of lyre playing (8 hours, you can't fail the check). You could build a modest full size castle in that time with all the supplies you need at hand.
Combine with that, engineering knowledge.
Never mind the question of having a basement, even on a wharf. Would you like to have in that basement a barracks, a recreation room, armory, treasure room, command and control center, and a bath house? Seriously, slap a few stone shape spells and it'll only be a sweat. For having played a lyre for 8 hours.
If future GMs don't like it, justify it not working to the same extent (or at all) with the excuse that its putting a strain on the region's mana, or the affected material becomes warped as if the spell touched the astral plane and makes for bad things. Or whatever.
I'm sure this ruling will change what you want to do... so have at it.

YES! :) So where are you guys going to sleep? ;p

I've always been preferable to wands of cure X , that's the main reason why I got the efficient quiver. However, when I was pricing items out, I didn't get around to getting said wands. Instead of asking for a retcon, I decided I wanted a little extra challenge. I do, however, have around 40k gp available, if we need to buy stuff for the party.
Belsiard the Wanderer
Also as much as I would love to already have a fortress, the lyre only does 30 days worth of work by 100 men. So we should still have something pretty good, but not a castle, yet.
I also assumed that I had to canabalize parts of nearby abandoned buildings. So they know that we are here.
Ynaeve Amryln
benefit of getting rid of nearby buildings is clear fields of fire...
CLW wands are still cheapest per hp, and good for after combat. a few potions per person for in combat emergencies may be good too.
Let's just say that my engineering means what we build is solid. Stone work will take the longest, while interior finishing would be pretty quick.
Depending on how high up the food chain these baddies were, we would probably have some respite while the rest of the demons cowered and fought for a new leader.
Belsiard the Wanderer
hmm. Got a price on that? Dm is the anything for resurection available?
I also ask for a scroll or two of breath of life
Tarwas, E’Sum Tel Myth Drannor
Hmm, I lack 499 gold to buy a basic Celestial Armor... (besides that I kinda doubt I would find one in Calimsport right now^^).
But if anyone finds a (even completely nonmagical) medium sized Light armor while out there, I guess I would take that right now.
The Ablative Barrier has the annoying property of collapsing quite fast...
Belsiard the Wanderer
i would spot you that gold. If I can find it. If not what kind of reg armor...masterwork would you like?
Ynaeve Amryln
I want celestial plate armor, and can trade in my bracers of armor +7 towards it, leaving the cost to me at $7850.
Belsiard the Wanderer
OK guys this is what is available,
a carpet of flying I and II,
a staff of stealth,
four elixirs of hiding, f
our potions of invisibility,
a scroll of invisibility, and
a scroll of greater invisibility.
He believes you might be interested in a +3 cooling skyrider mithril chainmail (5 fire resist, +5 competence fly skill, 20050 gp)
I am going to pick up some of the breath of life scrolls
Let me know which ones I picked up for each of you.
Ynaeve Amryln
It's not the armor I was looking for, but I'll take the cooling skyrider, gives me a +2 AC boost and +5 to fly. This is assuming I can sell my bracers of armor against the price.
As much fun as the carpets are, I don't need one.
The elixir of hiding could come in use, if no one else asks for it, I'll take it too.
Barid Naismith
Yes, I can definitely use the staff. Thanks to my class abilities, I can cast as a 15th lvl wizard, so it will be very handy. However, I'll need help in recharging as needed. See if you can talk him down. I can afford it either way, but it couldn't hurt to haggle, 'in the tradition of Calimport,' of course. :)
Also, if my calculation is correct, the merchant wants 700 gp for the scroll of greater invisibility?
Belsiard the Wanderer
i think we are on standard prices, and at this point I am not haggling, building a relationship right now!
700 gp for a 4th level scroll 375 for a 3rd
cant remember off hand what level it is, even though i have it!
Barid Naismith
What's wrong with haggling? Remind me not to send you out to the farmer's market...you'll come back with 2 potatoes for 'only' 4 gp. :P
The only two spells from the staff that I'll use regularly are invisibility (Level 2) and the greater version, which is level 4.
So I owe you (the merchant) 37,500 gp, correct?
Belsiard the Wanderer
nothing is wrong with haggling. BUT no reason to risk damaging the relatiohship by insulting him when he is obviously on edge.
besides what are we going to save? 1,000 gp? That is nothing. You do it this way with places you go to a lot. Pay the price, then when you need something big you get the discount. (I have spent a lot of time in the Middle East where you can haggle and if you are buying stuff in a market then you haglle a lot. But there are other games to play with other vendors. Besides OOC we know that there is not a markup on these items.) Dont you worry this will pay off. If nothing else it will pay off for you guys when I take over LOL :)
We were operating under the impression that I had ALL the gold and purchase what you want out of those funds, then give you yours back at the end. So whatever the cost of the staff is you take it off your sheet.
Barid Naismith
LOL I was just pulling your leg on the haggling. As for the cost, I just wanted to make sure I had the number right so that I can adjust my character sheet.
Barid Naismith
anybody home?
Barid Naismith
Just to give everyone a head's up, I'll be out of town Memorial Day weekend, and it's very unlikely my wife will let me turn my tablet on, let alone log in. I'll need to be DMPC'd from Friday afternoon until the following Tuesday morning.
Belsiard the Wanderer
hey congrats!
Barid Naismith
Hey congrats Nightskies! Is it a permanent job or temp to hire?
Barid Naismith
I'm here.
Belsiard the Wanderer
LEt's give it till mid week, if nightskies is not back I will go ahead and take over, and start my gm slot. Though I am confident he will be back.
