When you say above Average I assume you mean Survival?
I do, yes. I'd also accept Kn. Dungeoneering on second thought, since it lets you accurately read the exact depth you are below ground; There must be some kind of navigation component to the skill. Feel free to roll, but you will have already wandered into some trouble just blindly going around for a few minutes.
You take random turns for nearly five minutes before you hear a skittering noise coming from down the corridor you were about to proceed into, as if untold numbers of tiny legs brush the floor...

Jasper Gardnt "Steel Sentinel" |

Kn.Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Sundakan |

You advance, into a PLETHORA of creepy crawly enemies.
At first, you think your lights and darkvision have failed you. The room you go into is an impenetrable pitch black.
A moment later the truth becomes apparent: There's nothing wrong with your eyes. Every square centimeter of this room is covered in spiders, in uncountable numbers.
And they're headed your way.
Inits, high is good: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Due to your surprise, the spiders get the drop on you, surging forward like a horrifying black tidal wave. Those of you not blinded by terror note there is some sort of stone box in the center of the room, now mostly uncovered. The keen eyed also note a scarlet band flashing on the underbelly of these spiders, visible on some now that they're moving.
You are in a 10 x 10 x 10 hallway 40 feet long. he spiders cover almost the entirety of it, crawling over ALL of you. Mechanically, this is four spider swarms conglomerated into one huge swarm. Kn. Nature applies for what KIND of spider.
The spiders cover all of you, biting every exposed inch of skin they can get to. The bites are excruciatingly painful, each one feeling like someone has jammed a hot poker into you and twisted it around.
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 6) = 17
EVERYONE takes 17 damage, and must make me two Fort saves. One at DC 11 vs Distraction (Nauseated) and one at DC 16 vs poison. Additionally, everyone takes a -1 penalty to attack, damage, ability, and skill checks from the searing pain until someone can perform a Heal check to remove the condition (DC 13).
Is anyone carrying a torch, BTW? I think Blackjack is?
Everyone is up!

Lauren Kravos, "Scarrow" |

Rynjin wtf dude. What's next, a box full of infinite clowns?

James "El Beasto" Camden |

As the spider's swarm over El Beasto he shouts out, "OH, NO! NOT THE SPIDERS! NOT THE SPIDERS! AAAAAHHHHH! OH, THEY'RE IN MY EYES! MY EYES! AAAAHHHHH! AAAAAGGHHH! AUAGHAGHABGHA"
Fort: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Fort: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
-Posted with Wayfinder

Arthur Balond, "Blackjack" |

Yes, I'm carrying a torch.
Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Not nauseated, but poisoned.

Timothy Fendolas " Psykoblade " |

Lol, Nick Cage
Psykoblade sweeps away as many spiders as he could but it seemed far too many of them.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Fort Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
There were too many of them and his weaponry nor spells could affect such a swarm. " I am useless here like so many parts of my life. I leave this in your hands. "
He says as he leaves the area completely.

Ice Strike |

Ice fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Ice fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Shade Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Shade fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
I try to cast burning hand if I can cast the spell without targeting anyone from the group
burning hands: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 2) = 10

Thomas "Vindicator" Green |

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
Vindicator shrugs off the effects.
"I can't hurt them with my sword!"

Balamar Deepsight |

Fortide Vs Distraction: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Fortitude Vs Poison: 1d20 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 3 = 19
Siege grunted as the little monsters crawled into her armour, although they were more of an annoyance than a danger thanks to the fact most of Siege's body was machine nowadays. Pulling a vial of Alchemist's Fire from a belt pouch, she hurled it at the largest concentration of Spider that didn't have a hysterically screaming hero in it...or any other kind, for that matter.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Arthur Balond, "Blackjack" |

"I don't like spiders." Blackjack states calmly, as he burns away the swarm around him.

Thomas "Vindicator" Green |

Thomas pulls out of the swarm as well, and retrieves a torch from his pack and lights it.
yo blackjack you should tell us about what you saw about your torch

Arthur Balond, "Blackjack" |

"Something's making my torch burn brighter. Some kind of fuel source in the air ahead. Be careful with any fire you're carrying."

Sundakan |

Going to go ahead and let Acid Splash work here, just because swarms are more BS than they need to be in this game, and it is a SPLASH after all. Ray of Frost seems a bit too focused though.
So it looks like half of you retreat, half of you stay in? And three people haven't posted yet. I'll give them a few more hours.

Lauren Kravos, "Scarrow" |

Fort 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Fort 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 oh crap
Scarrow starts really, really not feeling good. She beats a hasty retreat, wishing she had made some alchemist's fire this morning.

Jasper Gardnt "Steel Sentinel" |

Fortitudes!: 2d20 ⇒ (12, 13) = 25
Steel Sentinel draws a vial of Alchemist Fire and lobs it into the spiders.
Attack roll?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Well if the room is covered in spiders, maybe it will be easier?

Sundakan |

1d20 ⇒ 9
Due to Ice Strike's fire burning white hot, a full 1/4 of the spiders are destroyed, clearing a path for anyone who wants to flee. The rest of the attempts to hurt them are...less effective.
The spiders surge forward again, engulfing everyone but Psykoblade.
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6) = 11
Forts vs Nausea again, and Forts vs disease for anyone who didn't already fail the save before (accidentally called it poison, my mistake).

Balamar Deepsight |

Fortitude: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Still fighting off the creature's strange abilities, Siege hurled another vial of fire as she fell back with the others. They weren't as effective as the Dwarf had hoped, but it was better than nothing.
Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Ice Strike |

Ice: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Ice: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Shade: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Shade: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
DO I need to concentrate to cast the spell? if so
Burning hands: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 1) = 8
Concentration: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Unless all the spider die Ice and Shade start moving back as fast as they can.

Jasper Gardnt "Steel Sentinel" |

FORTITUDES: 2d20 ⇒ (19, 14) = 33
Steel Sentinel growls in frustration and lobs another Alchemist Fire into the swarm.
ALCHEMIST FIRE: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Lauren Kravos, "Scarrow" |

Fort vs Nausea: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Scarrow continues to G the FO. She valiantly succeeds in not barfing all over herself as she does so.

Thomas "Vindicator" Green |

Nausea: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
Immune to disease.
Vindicator Lays Hands on Deepsight.
2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7

Arthur Balond, "Blackjack" |

Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
"...Oh, f%$~ it."
Blackjack throws his torch as hard as he can, aiming for the stone box.
GRENAAAAAAADE!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
"We may want to get the hell out of here."

Sundakan |

Blackjack does so.
There is an immediate burst of flame which shoots through the tunnel.
Everyone make me a DC 18 Reflex save (besides Scarrow, Psykoblade, and anyone else who ended up around the corner...I think that's Vindicator and Balamar as the last two?)
Ref save halves: 6d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 1, 2, 3) = 21
1d20 ⇒ 13
Another large chunk of the swarm is incinerated, leaving only a few stragglers, mopped up by Ice Strike's flame spell.

Arthur Balond, "Blackjack" |

Ref: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Blackjack has just enough time to look away before the explosion happens, maintaining his status as a cool guy.
"Okay, that was a little bigger than I anticipated."

Jasper Gardnt "Steel Sentinel" |

Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
"Ugh...must've been a gas pocket or something."

Arthur Balond, "Blackjack" |

"Exactly that. I noticed it when my torch started burning hotter, and decided to use it to our advantage. Though I admit, I underestimated the size of the explosion."

Melina Tribani |
Melina was already diseased from the last round...
fort, nausea: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
ref save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Melina has now taken a total of 38 damage from the spiders and fire.
Melina takes a wand out of her pack and starts tapping herself with it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
She turns to look at the others, to see if anyone else needs healing.

Balamar Deepsight |

Brushing the soot off her armour, Siege shrugged. It had worked, and they were only lightly scorched, so it had been worth it to not be eaten by a horrible swarm. The bulky Dwarf gestured to continue down the passage once everyone was ready.
