who got grappled, me or my animal companion?

Is that like...magical webbing? Does my SR apply against it possibly? Curious since it works like the Slow spell.

Melina steps back slightly from the spiders and then prays. She then points at Vindicator, giving him help to get free from the web.

Casting liberating command, allows escape artist check with bonus of 8. Spell works up to 35 feet away, which I assume is OK, since we aren't using a map.

This spell is listed as an immediate action to cast. Does that mean she can also act another way this turn?

Jasper Gardnt "Steel Sentinel" wrote:

Su, so SR does not apply.

Should probably be the AC, n second thought.

Vindicator tries to escape.

Blackjack snarls and tries to slip out of his bonds.

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Then he snarls some more because he failed to do so.

Psykoblade smirks and pulls out Friction cutting the webbing as a burst of electricity shears it away.

Friction: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Damage: 2d4 + 8 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 8 + (3) + 1 = 17

Scarrow shoots the spider again. "So umm...hi, everyone! How're we all doing tonight? Anyone else starting to develop arachnophobia? No? Just me? Cool."

Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (8) + (3) + 7 = 18

After looking some more, I THINK that casting liberating command was an immediate action, so Melina still has her attack for the round. If not, please disregard or hold for next round.

attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

M Human Paladin/Avenger 4 | HP 60/60 | AC 23 [+2 after PA] T 12 FF 21 | CMD 21 | Fort +14 Ref +12 Wil +12 | Init +4

Do I still have an action? If so:

Thomas swings at the spider he attacked last, ignoring the webs for now.

2d4 + 16 ⇒ (3, 2) + 16 = 21

Sorry for the delay everyone, been busy and this game by far takes the longest to read and update, for obvious reasons. I'll try to keep any delays like this to a minimum.

Four of the spiders drop to the ground, felled by piercing icicles and a flurry of weaponry!

The remaining five charge in to attack those not webbed!

Chomp vs El Beasto: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Chomp vs Scarrow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Chomp vs Melina: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Chomp vs Psykoblade: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Chomp vs Shade: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Beasto take 2 damage, Shade take 3! Both need to make DC 14 Fort saves or take 1d2 ⇒ 1 and 1d2 ⇒ 2 Str damage respectively!

Everyone is up!

Psykoblade turned and parried the spider's head to the left. As he twisted his form inward towards the exposed exoskeleton on the arachnid, Friction spears up towards the midsection of legs while a blade of lightning simultaneously erupted with a loud pulse, creating a cleaving strike at the legs. When Friction found it's mark another burst of electricity would rushed through the creature center. Magical energy radiates from the strikes.

Twin Friction Stab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

El Beasto was clearly so distraught to learn that he wasn't known by every citizen of Sommweir that he momentarily fumbled his attempt at grappling his new spider attacker.

The Witch hex Misfortune and the Dual Cursed Oracle Misfortune are different. Secondly, Misfortune is hardly an upgraded Fortune because the main benefit of Fortune is that you can Cackle to prolong it.

Human Hp 47/47; AC 26 (Touch 17, FF 19); CMD 13, Saves: +6,+11,+7, Deaf, 30 ft; Perception +9 ; Sense motive +9; Initiative +6

It does hurt the build, not sure if a second curse that never improves is worth now. Could I make a rebuild?

Yeah, you can rebuild.

Or, we can work something out with Fortune working more similarly. I just don't like that Misfortune can be used both infinitely and to both aid and harm. It's a little too versatile for a single power when used that way, especially when it's clearly unintended.

I'm willing to let Fortune affect allies (within the same daily limits), and maybe even make it once per person per 24 hours, but each one an only affect friend or foe, not both.

Arthur Balond, "Blackjack" wrote:

Well, you can't do worse than a 1. It says take the second roll, not take the worse roll.

Jasper Gardnt "Steel Sentinel" wrote:

How is it not an upgraded Fortune?

Fortune: Once per day (and increasing slightly as you level) re-roll one roll that ONLY YOU made.

Misfortune: Once per day per person force an enemy OR ally (which includes yourself) to re-roll.

Allowing Misfortune to affect allies makes it far more powerful as a buff than the Fortune equivalent.

Human Hp 47/47; AC 26 (Touch 17, FF 19); CMD 13, Saves: +6,+11,+7, Deaf, 30 ft; Perception +9 ; Sense motive +9; Initiative +6

I always read it as that misfortune can't work on myself, and I still have to pay twice for it, A revelation and an extra curse. In any case, I'm not understanding your proposal about Fortune.

Basically the text would change to be a mirror copy of Misfortune, except it works on Allies.

Infinitely reusable, only works on a specific target once per 24 hours, re-roll and take the second.

Human Hp 47/47; AC 26 (Touch 17, FF 19); CMD 13, Saves: +6,+11,+7, Deaf, 30 ft; Perception +9 ; Sense motive +9; Initiative +6

Everyone seems to be shaken up by the spiders' showing!

Shade misses, misses again, but finally manages a small rip in a spider. His master barely avoids hitting HIM instead of the target!

El Beasto completely fails to secure the hold on the eight legged beastie!

Psykoblade nearly finishes off the injured spider, but it stands strong!

Blackjack cartwheels around and finishes the beast!

Scarrow likewise misses, and Steel Sentinel rips his way free!

Balamar puts the hurt on a spider, but doesn't fell it!

Exclamation marks become meaningless due to overuse!

Vindicator has an action; He broke free last round. Waiting on Melina!

Melina swings her glaive at a spider.

attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Psykoblade Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6

Psykoblade take 6 damage and make a DC 16 Fort save or take 1d2 ⇒ 1 Str damage. Beasto you likewise need to make another Fort save or take an additional 1d2 ⇒ 2 Str damage.
