Calogero Gaetano |
Calogero checked how is this boat fastened and does it have any oars. Looking, that Karuut is trying to break the door, he backed and looked around: was this noticed by anyone nearby?
fine_young_misanthrope |
The boat has a simple knot tied on it. I has a pair of oars.
The door is a simple wooden door with a simple lock. It easily give under your assault. While the door's crunch echoes around the area and bay, you don't see anyone look in your direction. This area of town is pretty deserted.
Darkness fills the warehouse, the ambient light from outside blocked by a filthy, oily film on the structure’s few windows. Darting illumination comes from light reflecting off the water through a splintered hole in the floor. Throughout the warehouse, crates, boxes, and barrels lean against each other in vaguely sorted stacks. A lingering smell indicates some of the contents are certainly spoiled.
Map updated, we're not in any sort of iniuative, but you can move to where you want to search et al. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Ru6IAZLtqZWp-HqdJjvLR8bblKV3jCzhmKH Zr4D0C8Y/edit?usp=sharing
Standard Pregen |
Hans moves with quiet alacrity into the warehouse, away from any potential onlookers, wrinkling his nose in disgust.
"It certainly smells like some of the stuff here is beyond its recommended usage point! Damn this darkness..."
So saying, he pulls a small gem from his belt pouch, and gently lobs it into the air, where it bursts into flame, and begins to orbit his head.
Just an Ioun Torch ;-)
Hans then begins to peer around the warehouse...
Winston Mutigo |
Winston casts light on the end of an arrow and carries it around like a torch. He then starts looking at crates.
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
I wonder if there is anything magical in here to be worried about.
Winston casts and concentrates on detect magic.
Calogero Gaetano |
"Oh, guys, it might take some hours before we find something,... "
Calogero jumped into boat and untied knot. He checkout out, how does oars move and then started do cleaning job, which he hated a lot, but noone pays attention to a guy cleaning his boat.
"I think, I stay outside and keep a watch. I'll shout out loud, in case something will be happening outside, but put a door back to its frame, so it doesn't draw much attention."
fine_young_misanthrope |
As the group walks in among the crates, hissing sounds as three large rats emerge from the boxes. The hiss at you and rear back ready for a fight.
rat init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Senne init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Calogero init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Karuut init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Winston init: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Hans init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Kristofer Engman init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
I've moved people a bit based on the general role-playing part. Feel free to move yourselves as you would be where you want to be. Also, feel free to post your action even before the person ahead of you. If your action can't happen because a thing is dead, the you might want to post another action that I could be instead. I'll keep combat moving as fast and as orderly as I can
Senne Rasa |
Her training taking over, Senne unsheathes the weapon at her back, steps carefully but quickly towards the nearest vermin, and chops at it...
Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Confirmation of Crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Probable crit.
Standard Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
Plus, if crit is confirmed...
Crit Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
scoring a lethal hit on the scurrying rodent.
fine_young_misanthrope |
And just like that two rats are cut into paste as great swords annihilate them.
Rats removed from map
fine_young_misanthrope |
And the last rat goes down in a hail of force. The place is eerily calm as only a few dust motes are flying around to indicate any violence happened here.
There are three piles of boxed goods, but most smell rotten. Now that your closer, you see a crate with three stylized crows on it hung by an old crane over a hole in the floor to the water below.
last rat dead
Standard Pregen |
Hans groans when he sees where the crate is positioned.
"Why are these things never simple?"
He then begins to look for the control mechanism for the crane, hoping against hope that they are in decent working order...
fine_young_misanthrope |
Looking at the control for the crane, it looks like its a mess of gears, badly frayed rope, and wobbly wood. One wrong move and the box is going to fall into the water below.
Standard Pregen |
Right. So, basically, the only thing it will reliably do is dump the crate in the water if we mess with it :-/ Would it be possible to careful move out on one of the boards underneath the crate, and then pick it up...? Say, if you were an acrobatically inclined barbarian with a decent strength score...? ;-)
Calogero Gaetano |
If there is a hole in a floor of warehouse, is it possible for me to see it from a boat?
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Calogero heard distant sound of battle. So he took oars and moved boat a bit closer to warehouse.
"What's happening there? Are you fighting someone?"
fine_young_misanthrope |
both the boat idea and the board idea seem logical. Its up to you how you move forward.
Senne Rasa |
Perhaps we should do both? If Hans is unsuccessful and either he and/or the package should fall, we can attempt to catch them with the boat.
Senne looks back towards Calogero, appraising.
How sturdy is that dingy?
Calogero Gaetano |
"It looks good enough, but if I were you, I wouldn't jump from over there. "
He moved oar and placed boat under the hole in a floor.
Profession: sailor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
"It's stream here, not so easy to hold it in one place, but I'll try not to shake it", Calogero tried his best.
fine_young_misanthrope |
Its a big crate, but Hans is able to grab the crate and carefully make it back to solid ground. There are a few tense moments, but you easily get the heavy box.
Senne Rasa |
Senne does her best to close her slightly agape mouth.
He moves with such strength and precision. I could learn from this one.
Let's check to be sure that Karela's container of items are inside, before we return to him.
fine_young_misanthrope |
Han's is easily able to open the crate with the crowbar. The rescued crate holds a smaller mahogany box inside, which contains five books and a few loose sheets of paper in a leather folder. The titles and subjects seem completely unrelated to each other: Practical Thaumaturgy In Accordance with Creation, Geographic Anomalies of the Inner Sea, Under Kaer Maga: A Trial and Travel, Physiology of Dragons: An Illustrated Reference, Lost Sarusan. The leather folder contains cargo manifestos, warehouse inventories, and other financial logs from a dozen different merchant houses and trade guilds. The crate also contains 10 sets of masterwork thieves’ tools, three flasks of alchemist’s fire, a flask of acid, a dozen jars of various inks, a footprint book, adamantine weapon blanch, three bags of powder, a deck of marked cards, and two sets of average loaded dice.
Calogero Gaetano |
"If you found something of decent value, I demand my equal share of plunder", joked Calogero, sitting in boat and observing through the hole in floor.
"Can someone share with me, what's inside?"
Standard Pregen |
"Sure thing, Calogero. Besides Guaril's stuff, there is 10 sets of masterwork thieves’ tools, three flasks of alchemist’s fire, a flask of acid, a dozen jars of various inks, a footprint book, adamantine weapon blanch, three bags of powder, a deck of marked cards, and two sets of average loaded dice."
Calogero Gaetano |
"That's nice stuff, I think I take one alchemist's fire flask and set of tools" he rised his hand for someone to pass it through the hole."Carefully! Don't drop or you burn me and my love.."
As he got his stuff and put tools and flask in his posession, he announced. "I think we are ready to move now, please, take Karela's box. Let's not spend whole day on leg work assignment, there are still ale in pubs I haven't tried"
Several minutes later he tied knot back to pier and hurried up to reach the rest of his party.

let's push on, you can divvy up any gear you want as you walk. I'm assuming you are giving the guy what he wants.
You make your way back to the Pickled Imp, and your friend is there. He scrutinizes the book for a long time, turning them over, flipping their pages, even smelling a few of them, then turns to you and says Excellent job! The books look great. If any of you need some help in the future, don't hesitate to ask! I work with a friendly bunch of fellows you might have heard about-the Sczarni. If you're looking for some friends, we're the best ones you could have! And as for payment, here, I've got a little bag of gold for each of you He then give each of you a leather pouch with 111gp.
Do you have any other questions for him?
fine_young_misanthrope |
He give each of you a clammy, oily handshake while thanking you once again. Once that's done, he addresses the group again. take a look around. You've welcome to stay as long as you like. Everything here is for safe, for a price!
Senne Rasa |
Senne hefts the newly-won pouch of gold in her hand.
I'll be able to afford lodgings and something to eat that I didn't forage, kill, or prepare.
She smiles to herself.
Perhaps this Pathfinder posting will be alright, after all.
fine_young_misanthrope |
You all head to the Ascendant Court's massive temple of Sarenrae the Temple of the Shining Star. There a friendly acolyte directs you to Ollysta Zadrian, a stout woman standing ramrod straight wearing battle armor of a paladin coordinating business of the temple in the open. When you are introduced, she looks your group over approvingly and says Thank the light of Sarenrae you have arrived! I knew Ambrus would come through for us in the Silver Crusade. I desperately need you to bring medicine to an orphanage and let me know if the headmistress, Gilga Baltwin, is deserving of our charity. Since our quest began, the needy have clamored for our aid, and I suspect some are abusing our generosity. It may sound cruel, but there are plenty of dishonest people out in the world eager for easy gold. Do you know of the Silver Crusade? After discovering so many factions splintered the Society, a number of us banded together to proliferate the cause of charity and kindness using the Society’s resources. As it is said, ‘The Dawn brings new light’ and I’ve made it my life’s work to use our recent darkness to bring a new light to the world and to the Pathfinder Society. I apologize for straying off point. Will you bring this parcel of medicine to Auntie Baltwin’s Home for Recovery in the Eastgate district?
Calogero Gaetano |
"Yes, lady Ollysta," Calogero took a parcel, "but you mentioned we need to look for those, who try to abuse our generosity. Should we check how is she using that or what?"
fine_young_misanthrope |
She turns to Calogero, Yes, I need you to investigate how the money and supplies are being used. You are to use your better judgment and help those you can, but please do not hurt those who you can save.
Standard Pregen |
Hans nods.
"Agreed. We should keep moving..."
Once the party has left the area, Hans asks:
"Has anyone heard of this women before? If not, we should probably ask around to discover what is known about her..."
Specifically, anyone with Knowledge(Local) or Diplomacy (to gather information)...
