Yar, Sampson's on forced leave after taking an arrow in the chest. He hasn't done anything except fight on the front lines for the last two years. So his already crippled social skills are even worse than they were before. He would have major PTSD if he wasn't emotionless, probably holed up in some apartment with a bottle or a needle wishing he could sleep without seeing their faces. Instead he's been holed up in an apartment sitting calmly, waiting for something to use his sword on.
At least it wasn't an arrow to the knee. :D

Sir Viktor Holt |

May I present to you, Sir Viktor Holt, Field-Squire Commissar-Cadet of the Most Noble Order of the Exalted March.
His background, personality, and appearance are finished and are currently awaiting inspection by Kagehiro - I will look into getting a post in tomorrowish, hopefully.
Gear is not done, but I am working on that.

In the market for any thoughts on my pc thus far. I'm going for a cross between Eastwood in Pale Rider and Liam Neeson in the Grey. A grizzled veteran type, the dependable squad sergeant who'll take orders but isn't afraid to point out the flaw in the plan. An independent thinker.
I know we're sand boxing it, but i wanted to make sure the pc's voice was consistent.
Is he playing well?

I like him. I honestly feel like you've got a lot better grasp on the military life thing than me. I never served in real life so I'm just going off convos with my veteran friends and Wikipedia.

He comes off as an hard a** with an ego IC, while he comes off as a concerned hard a** OOC sense we can read his thoughts. I like that and think it gives room for good RP sense you have to get to know him IC in order to see it is not ego but something better that drives him. All hard on the outside but inside he is crunchy goo. ;P
Feel free to give thoughts on Nathmir. Always looking to improve and insight.

Alrighty. So I have redone the damn story about 4 times due to technical errors. Technically, I'm an idiot and wouldn't save my damn background for hours and my comp would freeze and I'd lose everything. So it is kinda rough and still needs more revision. It still needs alot of polishing as well. But, I hope it will do for now. What is there is parts 1 and 2 of the background and I still need the last part and his personality section. Tell me if it is alright so far. Thanks.

It seems like everyone is just making smalltalk, or directing these NPCs they're making up to control other NPCs they're making up. Sampson doesn't make smalltalk, and wouldn't have anyone under his command right now.
Ive been having fun writing Zeltresh and trying to hammer out his personality and speaking style, but Im very interested to see who makes the final cut and how brimleydower is going to pull all these wacky folks together!

Greetings and salutations fellow applicants, it is I, Garroth the Great!!!
Just sticking my head in and making my presence known to the masses. Background needs a rework but for the most part I think im ready, certainly for the gameplay thread, although ill wait for the next scene before diving in.
Cheers!

Sir Viktor Holt |

Life intervened last night (aka, got drunk at the bar). Probably should've known better than to plan an update on a Saturday, but I'm crazy like that. I'll move things along this evening, me promises.
When you get the chance, I'd also like any feedback you have on Viktor Holt's background and stuffs - see if its to your liking.

Sir Viktor Holt |

Profile looks good on Sir Viktor. Feel free to dive in whenever; I'm not going to be really going over crunch too much until I've settled on my final picks—when recruitment ends I'll be going through and double-checking to see who hit what qualifiers and make sure all of the numbers add up.
Righteo! I'll have the post up today sometime, as for now I'm looking over the players in my own recruitment thread..

Nathmir Tsaneth |

Nathmir is not against helping with the war effort or following laws. He just does not want them interfering with the way the temple is run or how worshiping is conducted. In other words he is willing to train war mages but he does not want some officer in his temple looking over his shoulder or telling him how to do things. He wants autonomy when it comes to the temple of Nethys. That's the big thing, if given that he has no problem helping out. After all that's why he helps to begin with in his backstory, they reward service. ;)
That's what was in my last spoiler for you. The one you may have missed.^

Sampson Klein |

I'm thinking of withdrawing my submission as well. I just can't do another RP recruitment. I put a lot of work into Sampson, but I don't see him being a good fit for this kind of totally open ended sandbox game based around social interactions (which he doesn't really do). Again, my own fault for making a character who's very difficult to RP in social situations.
I wasn't originally intending to do that, but I didn't want him to be a clone of another emotionally stunted character I'm playing, so he just kind of evolved into a sword robot fit only for combat. Oh well, enough excuses. I'm out. Unless the one (two?) pitiful posts I made in the first segment of the RP thing are enough to qualify me for consideration.

Brimleydower |

There haven't been many applicants make it officially into the Gameplay yet. I really liked Sampson personally; if you wish to withdraw of course that is your call to make, but I don't think he would be overly hard to accommodate from a story perspective. It is looking like most are enjoying a pro-military bent (which is fine) that would see its fair share of bloodshed.
And to be even more transparent, there are a few in this recruitment for whom the role play segment is more of a formality, as I have seen their strong RP in other games. While that isn't a free pass on this pre-RP method, there isn't much depth in the "competition" as of this moment (speaking of quantity solely).

Brimleydower |

I think something akin to Mifune's Musashi in Samurai Trilogy is an attractive angle for Sampson specifically, although ultimately the direction any one takes is going to be dependent on how they react to stuff happening around them. He could just as easily remain a cold killer for the rest of his days; Molthune sure as hell wouldn't mind.

Brimleydower |

** spoiler omitted **
Okay. Things wouldn't go off without a hitch in that regard, but for the most part Molthune as a governmental entity would not be breathing down your neck. In a nutshell, so long as you are contributing to and not hindering the conflict with Nirmathas (or any of their other interests) they wouldn't try to wrest control of your clergy or anything similarly extreme. It does bear mentioning, however, that by operating in Molthune you will technically owe fealty to one of the nine General Lords and of course the Imperial Governor.

Nathmir Tsaneth |

Nathmir would be fine with that, it's sensible they don't want someone operating in their land that could work against them.
Any word on the custom campaign trait? Sense none seem to quite fit Nathmir, if pushed I would say he just barely fits into Most Noble Order of the Exalted March. Rather see if I have an option that is a better fit though.

Garroth Seren |

Garroth: I'll let you handle your NPC's response. Used Prestidigitation to sneakily change the taste of his beverage to stagnant water while you were headed to Nathmir. Figured he was too distracted in a drunken stupor to notice the prank.
Yup yup, I figured that was the plan. Gave me a good chuckle ;)
I don't expect him to have the social pull of an actual Aspis agent, but is it possible he may be carrying some kind of writ or recommendation from the organization, which can see him through a few doors?
I know, I know, characters haven't been chosen yet, but I had the question so I'm asking it :)

Nathmir Tsaneth |

Personally I don't think LN would be a big leap for him sense it really only means he follows his own code and mostly keeps to the law. But if he disregards laws to keep with his own personal code more times then not, I would keep him N. So does he follow laws because he believes and endorses order? If so go LN if not N sounds about right to me.
Calling it a night guys, good luck. See you when I wake up for the good or bad news. xD
