(Reward) Duality: The very nature of Nethys is a paradox. A being at once chaos and order, destruction and renewal, many adherents find it truly difficult to follow fully in the footsteps of their patron deity. And yet, commanding such powers has always seemed to flow naturally through Nathmir. Whether it is owed to his unique heritage or a show of Nethys' direct favor with the cleric is not known.

Benefit: When channeling energy of any type, treat your effective cleric level as two levels higher up to a maximum of your total character hit dice.

(Campaign Trait) Proselyte Shepherd: Securing a bastion for the worship of Nethys is a difficult prospect. The Abadarans have a stranglehold on the nation's religion, with subsequent affluence generally only being granted to those faiths who serve to further bolster Molthune's war effort. In order to establish a clergy of you're own, you will be required to walk a fine line between appeasing both the Abadarans and the General Lords of Molthune (and by extension, the Imperial Governor himself). Trials and tribulations are merely a test from above, however, and Nethys' favor has been ever present in Nathmir's dealings thus far. With care and diligence, an academy devoted to The All-Seeing Eye will thrive in Molthune soon enough.

Benefit: +1 Trait Bonus to Diplomacy, Perform (Oratory), and Sense Motive. Once per day, you can call on Nethys' favor to overcome what lackings your mortality presents, granting a +2 Trait Bonus to a single check (this can be declared after the roll is made).

Description:

Ht: 6'4"
Wt: 140 lbs
Age: 68
Hair: Black with White Highlights
Eyes: Multicolored
Skin: Iridescent and Slightly Tanned

Standing over most humans Nathmir is slightly imposing and odd. The marks of his blood are not few. Black hair with highlights of true white, eyes whose color change, a perfectly symmetrical face, skin with a shifting gloss over the slight tanning of time on the battlefield, and a shadow that does not quite move as it should.

His manner of dress once of style and comfort, now more of function. Favoring scale mail over a black hooded robe with silver trim, a staff in one hand with a steel shield on the other. He bares two bandoliers running across his chest with rows of items. At his waist hangs a crossbow and number of pouches.

Personality:

Unshakable Faith- Nathmir has true faith, he can not be swayed in anyway against Nethys. Any failings he see's in those that worship the all seeing are a result of their short comings and not Nethys.

Somewhat Amoral- Unconcerned with what others consider right or wrong he does as he thinks is best. Morality is a matter of perspective, the truth of something does not change dependent on a persons view.

Favors Magic- Nathmir like many of his brethren in the church considers those without magic as less then those with magic. Magic is the domain of Nethys and those who serve him, anything outside that domain will naturally be a secondary concern.

Balance- Following the example of his god's nature Nathmir strives for balance in his own way. There is need for opposing aspects and existence can not function without ether. So he keeps his view as such, thinking one extreme as bad as the other.

Responsibility- While Nathmir has little loyalty to those who have not earned such from him, he does have a sense of responsibility. Those placed in his charge receive the best from him even if they would not under different circumstances.

Diplomatic- Nathmir maintains a sense of diplomacy most of the time. He goes out of his way to remain on civil if not cordial terms with others.

Planner- Never one to rush into action, even if it seems so. Nathmir thinks things through and normally has a plan of some sort. This attitude is not limited to combat as his mindset is no different when interacting with others.

Trust and Respect Earned- Nathmir does not ask or expect ether trust or respect until earned. A level of civility but little else. In turn he does not give these unless earned regardless of who or what they are. Not that he is above failing to correct such assumptions.

Background:

Origins

Nathmir was born in Sothis, the capital of Osirion, to a visiting scribe of Tephu. A lay worshiper of Nethys with minor magical abilities. Her child may have never been born at all if not for her devotion to knowledge. Years earlier she had found herself to be unable to bear children, her would be husband leaving shortly after. In her despair she threw herself into her work, as a scribe in Tephu. During her work she came across ancient text that she was charged with copying, they detailed a ritual to magically increase fertility. In fact a partner would not even be needed for the birth of a child. So she created a copy for herself and went about saving the money and gathering the items needed for the ritual. Upon obtaining the last item in Sothis she went through with the ritual. Unknown to her she lacked the magical power and complete knowledge for the ritual to be successful, yet her work and faith did not go unnoticed. Agents of Nethys had watched over her and intervened without her knowledge. Empowering the ritual and infusing her with the energy needed in order for it to take effect. So was Nathmir conceived and shortly after brought into the world.

Childhood

Nathmir's childhood was not a stable or simple thing. For a few years he grew up like any other boy. Yet the first of these upheavals came when someone attempted to kidnap the young aasimar, they failed only by luck. As a Nethys priest came across the event and saved him. This same priest took an interest in him, over the years the priest nurtured Nathmir's growing talents and love of both knowledge and magic. This did not go without it's price as he was outcast by the other children his age and some adults grew to envy him as a result. Still he did not let such things bother him, he grew up well if strangely. His eyes, hair, and very presence seemed to change as he grew into a man. Yet his mind remained the same if refined by his studies. When he finally came of age he sought to join the priesthood of Nethys. But while his mentor and friend supported him the rest of the local order envied and distrusted Nethmir with his talent and celestial blood.

Adulthood

Nathmir having found only rejection in Tephu's local church of Nethys. Chose to leave home and seek out his own training in the ways of Nethys. He headed to the capital, Sothis, to gain training and earn his place fairly. For the first year he did just that, yet as with his home city it did not last. His nature was envied yet again until his training and duties were regulated to a crawl. Feeling it was time to move on he took his leave and headed west to Thuvia. He took a ship to Merab and from there made his way over land to Pashow, while giving the House of Oblivion a wide berth the caravan he was in fell prey to the divs. Despite his lack of formal training he was able to aid the caravan weather the attack. Upon arrival he was more then welcome in Pashow. The church of Nethys took Nathmir in, his training truly underway at last. After spending a few years in Pashow his skills were refined into that of a true priest, he was an acolyte no more.

Travel

Growing restless Nathmir sought to do more for his god. He headed to Duwwor in order to find a guide to lead him into Rahadoum. Once pass the border a brush with the Pure Legion convinced his guide to turn back while he would not. Nathmir stumbled through the desert with only his faith, finding a sandstorm for his trouble. Some how surviving the storm he continued on, coming upon an abandoned temple. Seeking shelter from the elements he entered only to find it was a temple of Nethys. Searching what remained of his god's lost temple he found a number of strangely intact and preserved tomes. As well as undisturbed chambers, feeling a sense of duty he prayed and restored what he could. These acts triggered the temples magic, breathing life back into the structure. Even a few slumbering guardians rose once more to defend the forgotten temple. Feeling the blessing and approval of his god upon him he set out to return to Pashow with news of this revived temple. Upon his arrival and report he was met not with praise or congratulations but skepticism. Frustrated with the church and it's growing list of failings he left not only Pashow and Thuvia but Garund as well heading to the lands of the north, Avistan.

Arriving in Almas, Nathmir thought to visit the local temple of Nethys. Get a feel for his northern brothers, while he found a number of temples of goodly gods. His own god had no such temple and few worshipers, in time he learned why. Andoran expressed freedom and individual rights yet in their quest for such they took a narrow view that disallowed a more balanced outlook. Unsurprising their was little place for a god such as his in this land. He moved on northward where he came across a scouting party of kobolds. Using his diplomatic skills the encounter remained civil, his ability to converse in draconic was no small aid. Offering his abilities as a priest in trade allowed him to safely arrive in Druma, via kobold tunnels beneath the Five Kings Mountains. Parting with his kobold guides he entered the land of merchants.

At first Nathmir thought Druma a good place for the worship of Nethys. Yet he found it even more restrictive then Andoran, for the Prophecies of Kalistrade had a strangle hold on the land. Even the few other gods in Druma could not compete it seemed. Yet again he cut his loses and moved on, heading westward along the coast of Lake Encarthan into Molthune. When he visited his first Molthune city, Eranmas, he quickly learned of the opportunities for immigrants. Service in exchange for land. The people of Molthune were not bonded to restrictive ideals or closed mindedness, so it seemed Nethys had guided him to the fertile soil he had been searching for. All he needed to do was work for it, so he agreed to serve Molthune for the proper reward.

Service

Nathmir spent the next few years in service to Molthune earning his pay, land, and even a few new members to the flock of Nethys. Taking part in a number of battles refined his skills both magical and mundane. Yet it was not without other cost as he could not save all his comrades, the act of attacking and killing others also weighed on his soul. For these were not monsters or aggressive invaders looking to gain anything, no rather he was part of the aggressors seeking gain. Still his faith did not waver and the moral questions were second to the lives of those placed in his hands. The problems between Molthune and Nirmathas were their own, they were not of his concern. He sought only to gain from it and spare those around him from death, even if it meant dealing that same death to those standing against him.

Hands of a Priest:

The sun beat down on the latest skirmish between Molthune and Nirmathas. The molthune troops had not faired well against the druids and rangers tactics. Making use of dogs to swiftly maul the formation from one direction then retreating while picking off any who overextended themselves. The molthune troops simply did not have the mobility to deal with such an attack, the few dead dogs were nothing compared to their losses. So it went on time and again until the platoon was bleeding and dying. That is when the priest came, robed and hooded he stood among the men with staff in hand. Priest were common among the troops but few placed themselves among battle, they were too precious to risk losing. Still this one stood, the howls of the dogs ushering their quickening return, rising his staff he brought it down with a thump. A wave of white energy spread from him, the wounded healed and the dying breathing in life once more. He simply walked on towards the sounds and sight of the coming pack, the soldiers struggling to rise while others stirred from deaths door. One spoke out to the priest.

"Get back, we have to protect you."

Ignoring the man, the priest walk on muttering prayers to his god. The dogs circled causing him to stop, they waited to long to attack as the priest rose a hand. Grasping it into a fist black energy spread from him, the dogs fell as the grass blacked and died before the wave of death. None survived the attack, yet their masters were still very much alive. Returning to the troops he brought down his staff a second time, healing energy restoring the men.

"I am Nathmir, priest of Nethys. Here to help you win this battle, the enemy has lost their rabble. Shall we not pay them in kind for the lives they have taken."

The troops roared in response as they moved back into formation. Granting Nathmir a place at the center to restore those that weakened before the remaining enemies. As the battle went on Nathmir used the last of his healing abilities while being forced into battle with a druid. It was staff against short spear as the two clashed on the battlefield, a divine empowered strike bring the druid low. With their apparent leaders death the call of defeat rang for the enemy, their forces scattering.

It was a bitter minor victory but one none the less. Nathmir was greatly thanked by the troops as he healed them over the time it took them to return. For rare were the priest of the all seeing, more so those who were not so slight of body and manner. So he had earned more then their thanks, rather their respect as well.
