Hawkren Hargraves. |
Works for me. So presumably the Baron sent out word when the curse/epidemic hit (and before he got demented), soliciting help and offering a reward of some sort. The odd epidemic and rumor of it being somehow related to the Fetchlings would be enough to pique Hawk's curiosity.
Lluvia Shade |
Well, I just introduced myself to get on with it... I left open whether or not Hawkren is in my company or not since I didn't want to speak for him, but he very well may be.
I realize that this was a pretty massive wall of text, but that's merely for the introduction since I wanted to give an idea of the character. I won't let her reflect on everything in future posts.
Lluvia Shade |
She didn't know that you're breaking in... :) Maybe Dario was just knocking. Extensively. And has a habit of bending over when he does. Or... appreciating the woodwork on the door.
Well Lluvia only approached after the lock was already cracked, so she did not really see that.
Lluvia Shade |
Since she is not clearly inivited to join Lluvia rather stays outside and makes her own observations. That might not be the worst choice from a tactical point of view; she might take over as lookout and would notice if anyone leaves the building.
It's a bit following through with her previous sentiment that she find obtrusiveness disgraceful.
Lluvia Shade |
I've made some late adjustments to Lluvia's equipment, since she still didn't have basic stuff. It was pretty tricky to balance the equipment so that I stay below 50 lbs., especially considering that the program I use keeps track of the weight of the currency I carry. (Every 50 coins weigh a pound... I was close to spending it on gems as extra currency.) Hope I didn't forget anything important... and I can't weight to see the grappling arrow in action.
I've also noted down an extra feat for changing the class to "Unchained Rogue", which gives me the feat "Weapon Finesse", which I previously bought, for free. I took "Combat Expertise" instead, since that is a requirement for Shadow Dancer.
Dario Westone |
Lluvia, we're happy to have you inside. Dario wanted to get everyone inside rather than have anyone stuck outside where they could be seen. I just wanted to role-play his reaction to two random people walking up.
I think Hawkren's threat of exposing our activities is enough to have us go along with you for now. Once we see what's in here, it should cement our ability to work together more.
Hawkren Hargraves. |
Just to clarify, that actually wasn't a threat. Quite the opposite.
What I was saying is Lluvia and I were likely to be considered by the authorities as accomplices to the break-in since we clearly weren't going to report you. And given the LE nature of Nidal and the Kuthonite love for torture... we were hanging our asses out there by not calling for the constables immediately and we couldn't expect mercy from the law for just being 'witnesses'. My guess is the Nidal rule would be 'guilty by association'. That's why I commented we were beyond 'discretion' and clearly 'complicit' with what you were doing.
Apologies if my meaning wasn't clear IC.
Lluvia Shade |
Hmmm... I was considering whether I stick with what I posted, but now that I already have a reply it's probably for the best to just leave it at that. That is assuming you don't run into trouble inside there, which would be hard to handle without a fourth. (Or fifth, should Praetorix continue.) It's a bit hard to say; for the character it makes most sense to stick with what I wrote, but it might be bad for the game.
Regarding how legal or illegal our actions are would depend on how convincingly Praetorix can claim to be entitled to such actions.
Lluvia Shade |
I hope you're not waiting for each other to make the next move. According to the initiative order it's the monster's turn, Zaitherin comes afterwards.
Lluvia Shade |
Hopefully you're rich. ;) It appears we're just smashing a wax golem to bits and messing up a candle storage... hoping that it somehow belongs to the bad guys. That might require some explaining if they aren't.
Welcome to the party!
Lluvia Shade |
What puzzles me a little... doesn't a golem normally have a magical aura? If I remember correctly Dario did check the room with Detect Magic before they entered and the golem should have been well within range.

To quote James Jacobs: "Unless a monster specifically has a special quality that says otherwise (and I'm pretty sure there are none that do), you can't detect ANY monster (including magical beasts, undead, or constructs) with detect magic. Creatures don't have magic auras. Spell effects on them do, though."

So if I understand the Mayor guy is asking people to figure out what is going on with the deadly disease going around? Would it be reasonable to assume that Krasimir spoke to him, wanting to help, and was directed to where the rest of the group is at?
I believe there is a tradition to simply burst into the scene with some ludicrous explanation why you're there. Preferably in the most impossible of moments.
Lluvia Shade |
This is the perfect moment! Krasimir was doing his own investigation, heard so the sound of combat and was eavesdropping on the other side of the door.
Krasimir Jelen |
Terribly sorry about the delay. I helped a friend make their first character and we started a module with her. It was so much fun! Even if it ruined my ability to get up at a reasonable time.
I will totally do that.
I also just started reading the gameplay thread and I am going to assume the devotee of Shelyn in not particularly popular here. Delightful! I am the black sheep of the town I am guessing. I suppose he stayed here in an endeavor to try and get them to change their ways. Gonna go with the baby was gonna pop soon and they needed a place to stay and traveling with a new born is generally not advised. So the baby was a under a year when the illness rolled around.
Praetorix |
Technically,
Nidal is a monotheistic theocracy ruled by a hereditary aristocracy who receive a direct divine mandate from a single god: Zon-Kuthon. It is therefore not hard to imagine that all other religions are banned there, although they are still practiced in secret.
So, all other religions are banned, officially. In practice, as long as you don't go around causing significant problems in the name of Shelyn (and keep it on the down-low), we should be fine.
Lluvia Shade |
erm, I was primarily addressing Praetorix in my last post. Re-reading it I wasn't sure whether that was entirely clear. And yes, I forgot to introduce myself to Krasimir.
Lluvia Shade |
I am not sure whether Lluvia would be comfortable with the description "Bedroom Scene". :D
Praetorix |
Hey guys, just a quick thought.
If the current plan of action Prae has in mind is going to be an actual problem, then I have no problem with putting it behind us, as a player. Prae will obviously still be upset, but he can deal.
I had no idea that among the new recruits would be a member of the Shelyn faithful, but we too will deal.
It's going to bring up some interesting roleplay scenes, I think.
Lluvia Shade |
I am a bit uncertain about the formulation that they surround Praetorix in a cloak of darkness. I can still strike at them without striking at Praetorix, right?
Lluvia Shade |
I noticed I made an embarrassing mistake with my character.. I must have slipped into he wrong line when I looked up my starting gold and spent 10,500 gp for a level 5 instead of 6,000 gp for level 4 character. I'll correct that within the next day...
so she does not have a cloak of elvenkind after all, which would have changed a few descriptions of her. For the sake of consistency she'll probably wear a normal mundane cloak.
'Hawk' Hargraves |
I actually had no idea that Zon-Kuthon was so popular among the players. But fun role-play. I have actually not been the black sheep in the group in a long time.
I don't think ZK is popular among the characters. As far as I can tell, Praetorix is the only worshipper. I can't speak for the rest of the group but I'm letting him play out his gambit to end the encounter without violence. But if these spooks insist on a sacrifice, my plan is to smoke them.
Lluvia Shade |
Lluvia is not impatient with the conversation, but she had the impression that Praetorix was under attack and she is not one to strike second or wait in good will whether Praetorix would survive this:
... and seemed to surround Praetorix in a cloak of umbral darkness
By her assessment, if she hesitates but one moment Praetorix might die.
Praetorix |
@Zon-Kuthon: well, out of the three "old players", one worships Z-K (Prae), one wants to learn everything about him (Dario), and the last couldn't care less (Zaitherin). So that's like one and a half of the original party. Take that as you will.
Having these undead cloud thingies (because apparently there's two; I missed that in the original description) move to the basement of the temple of Z-K in Pangolais was a wonderful chance for Prae to take a real step towards providing such a service to everyone in the church.
I apologize if my actions, taken in the interest of following his character, have offended anyone, for I did not mean to.

As much as you (and I, for that matter) don't want that to happen, Prae would be pretty okay with going out that way.

Krasimir Jelen |
I did not mean to say everyone worshiped Zon-Kuthon more so that people were ok with him. Most games and by proxy the players are not. But I am cool with the challenge. Krasimir is having a crisis of faith so he might stay loyal or trade gods.
Oh and somehow I missed in the original post that the undead would incorporeal. I will need to again swap weapons.
