He looks like he'll be fun to be around. As long as you don't mind the liquor smell. ;)

Aasimar Cleric of Cayden 1

"What smell?!? You can't possibly mean the delightful heavenly aroma of the nectar of the gods? The Holy Water of Caydean?!"

"Cernan says you need to loosen a little! Here, Have a drink!"

<Gleam from smile blinds you briefly>

OK, did I or did I not see a feat (Or perhaps a special ability?) that basically allows you to use alcohol as holy water? Including damaging undead, etc?

I remember thinking that would be perfect for this guy! :)

Female Gnome Ranger 1

I really only drink applejack and other "drinks" made from fermented fruit. But I really like applejack.

"Oh, I would not object to a good wine. Especially if it has a nice nose."

*looks around with glass in hand*

*downs glass in one*

"That was most palatable."

It rings a bell, but I can't find one in my lists for 2011-2013. So either it's from earlier than that, or maybe it's a trait or spell?

It COULD be a trait.
There are a lot of religious/faith traits on the official lists alone.

A. LOT.
:/

All man Agitator 1/Bluecollar Worker 2

Tell me about it. I stopped copying them for a bit, and my "Traits" document is still close to 40 pages with a 10-point Times New Roman as the main font.

Granted, there's some white space since I try to keep the traits somewhat sorted by region, or deity, or whatever, but still. YIKES!

COuldn't find a Trait that did what I thought I read yesterday. (And I went crossed-eyed looking for teh silly thing)

I did find a first lvl Cleric spell that lets you turn water into alcohol, maybe I got that confused?!?

I could have sworn I saw a (Trait/Feat/something) that let you use alcohol as holy water?

Or maybe I should invent one and submit it? ;P

OK,
I read in a thread, (Somewhere, some time ago.) I think it was of our many 'magic items you'd like to see' threads. And there was a magic item that was specifically made for priests/Palladins of Caydean.

A mug, (A Holy Symbol, of course) that was enchanted to also serve as a Buckler +1.
FUrther enchantments to prevent your drink from spilling during a fight.
Naturally.

And later, the ultimate/additional enchantment, to make it an 'Everful Mug'.
Of course. :)

THIS is Cernan's ultimate grand prize. ;)

Don''t you just love PC's with simple motivations? ;D

All man Agitator 1/Bluecollar Worker 2

Yeah, yeah. Worldwound encroaching, the end of days, zombie apocalypse breaking out in Taldor, blah, blah, blah. I'VE GOT ME MUG!

Hey, In 'Zombieland' the character Tallahassee just wanted to find a Twinkie.

It's about enjoying the little things in life that make it all worthwhile.

:)

In Gods and Magic, clerics of Cayden Cailean can choose to create cheap beer and/or wine instead of water with the orison Create
water.

Is that what you're thinking of, maybe?

Are we ready to go?

All man Agitator 1/Bluecollar Worker 2

I'm ready to go (albeit on my way to work - but I have a smartphone, no supervision, and am usually done at least an hour faster than I'm supposed to, so nevermind).

Got lots of backstory left to write out, but really nothing in it that should come into play immediately - and mostly stuff that's just there for me to remember Ionnia's characteristics (and I do my best to make sure that anything I put into the backstory can be disregarded if my GM don't like it).

Also, I usually don't go this overboard with writing backstory, it's just that I was done with the initial character-creation really fast, and kept having new ideas for her.

Just the one thing, though. I read the player-oriented bit about the campaign in Demon Hunter's Guidebook and noticed this:

Quote:
The Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path begins with the launch of the Fifth Mendevian Crusade soon after a devastating attack on the Worldwound’s border by the demon armies.

Could we have Ionnia's paladin mentor (name upcoming as soon as I get back from work in 4-½ to 5 hours) be there for that attack and get killed in it?

That is absolutely a possibility. :)

Everyone else, please check in and let me know if you're ready to go. I'd really like to get this started. I am on call Thursday, and unless it's stupidly busy, I should have time to get this started then. Everyone can then have the weekend to craft their introductory posts. :)

All man Agitator 1/Bluecollar Worker 2

Tragedy looms. Yay!

All man Agitator 1/Bluecollar Worker 2

Holy Diver! More backstory:

More detailed backstory still in progress:

EARLY LIFE

Circumstances of Birth
About a year before Ionnia’s birth, her mother discovered that her then husband, Sir Róka, had been neglecting her in favour of a (much too young for it to be socially acceptable, or even legal) stable-boy at the family estates in southern Ustalav. Coupled with a desire to avoid having to pick sides in the just then erupting War Without Rivals between the counties of Barstoi, (where the family’s title comes from) and Ardeal (where they also held estates), Lady Katynika took the drastic decision to, in addition to divorcing her husband, relinquish her title in favour of her oldest son Detrick and join the crusaders in Mendev (already including several cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews, and nieces to her), leaving her brother, Sandor, as custodian of the family wealth and Detrick until he would come of age.

On her way to the court of Queen Galfrey, Katynika met a handsome young elven bard, Talathel Sildelaral, who, alongside his mother, was returning from a failed attempt to make a new life in Kyonin, far from the sorrows of fallen Sarkoris. Katynika and Talathel took comfort in each other, and while the relationship ended soon after the group’s arrival in Nerosyan, they have stayed in touch ever since, seeing as not that long after, Katynika gave birth to a daughter with slightly pointed ears.

As the daughter of a wealthy Ustalavic noble-woman and the step-daughter of a prominent member of the Church of Iomedae, Ioannia was brought up with every advantage their position could get her. As a very young child she always had a nurse specially dedicated to looking after her whenever her mother wasn’t around, and once she’d gotten old enough to start a more formal education, the nurse was replaced by the best governess her parents’ money could buy. At the age of fifteen when she began to show an interest in joining one of Mendev’s many chivalric orders rather than follow in her mother’s footsteps and serve the Crusade as an administrator, her mother managed to get her a place as a page-girl with a small order of exclusively female knights and paladins dedicated to Shelyn and Sarenrae who had their headquarters in Egede (as far from the Worldwound as it is possible to be in Mendev) and specialised in teaching knightly skills and good, noble manners to the children of Mendev’s new crusader-nobility.

Education
It was during her second year with the Sisters of the Rosy Dawn that a seventeen-year-old Ionnia first realised she didn’t just want to become a knight, but a paladin sworn to Shelyn, the goddess of art, beauty, love and music. The realisation came about after the order’s fortified convent in Egede hosted three travelling paladins whose holy presence greatly impressed the young girl. Having set her eyes on the prize of a paladin’s sword and sanctified armour, she spent the next year trying to convince her tutors that she should be allowed to join one of their active members on the border of the Worldwound as a squire. This campaign was not met with success, though, and Ionnia might have ended up choosing a different path in life if it weren’t for a second visit from one of the three Shelynite paladins – a woman named Viniana the Bright – who first convinced her that she wasn’t yet ready to join the struggle against the demons, and then promised Ionnia that if, once she reached the age of twenty, Viniana would return to the convent and test Ionnia, and that as long as she showed enough martial and spiritual promise, Viniana would take her on as a squire and help her become a real knight and paladin of Shelyn.

Ionnia spent the next two years in even more intense study – dedicating herself equally to the study of Shelyn’s teachings, and to the more practical studies of fencing, riding, and building up enough strength to be able to fight in full knightly armour. During her studies she was encouraged to pick up an art, as befits all worshippers of Shelyn, and she became a passable dancer, reasoning that it is the art that best complements the skills of a warrior. Her greatest joy, however, is that of jousting – a practice she enjoys enough that she can sometimes be heard laughing with joy as she rides along the lists.

On Ionnia’s 20th birthday the paladin, a fellow half-elf woman by the name of Kaseyennia Shieldheart returned to see if the young noblewoman had what it takes to become a paladin. After a week of tests of varying difficulty – Ionnia had little trouble with the fencing, dancing, or riding tests, did well when questioned on Mendevian politics or Shelynite dogma and practises and showed good understanding of the reason for the self-same dogma and practises. Having to create a painting or sculpture was rather more difficult for her, though – and for a night she feared she had failed her test, until Kaseyennia explained that she had just managed to scrape through on the painting, and besides, her dancing had been artistic enough that she could have afforded to fail one test.

Ionnia has then spent the past 2-½ year as Kaseyennia’s squire as the paladin has helped out with keeping order and maintain justice inside Mendev – something that’s not always easy considering the people attracted more by the absence of the lawkeepers chasing them than by a desire to help out with the desperate struggle for Golarion’s survival that make up a large proportion of the crusaders in Mendev.

Two weeks ago, Kaseyennia told Ionnia that at the end of their visit to Kenabres, it would be time for Ionnia to be raised to the full rank of knight and paladin in the order, and to start making her own decisions as to how she can best help the crusade – until then, however, there’s a city to see, and a woman called Willow Hopgood saying she has been told by the priestesses to “help Ionnia with her burdens” to get to know.

And a quick rundown of some of her clos(ish) family members.
Mother Lady Katynika von Sturnidae (50) Former Baroness of Sturnidae.

Father Talathel Sildelaral (150) (Elf from an old Sarkorian family, court-bard to Queen Gallfrey, currently on a mission as envoy to the Swordlords of Rostland.)
Step-Father Bishop-Lord Stichilo of Fort Estrovin (45), cleric of Iomedae from Taldor

SIBLINGS
Three older half-brothers
Detrick (32, current Baron von Sturnidae, Knight of the Order of Wolfbanes, Viscount of South Janoyt, and Lord Protector of West Sinaria [the last two titles sounds nice, but that’s all there’s too them]),
Wulf (30, priest of Pharasma in Karcau), and
Petraszc (29) (Detrick’s right-hand man and the only family member actually living in Sturnidae).
Younger Half-Sister Katynika the Younger (16), a novitiate member of the Iomedaean church in Egede.

EXTENDED FAMILY – FATHER’S SIDE
Grandfather Sildathel the Dreamer (312), an elf archer from Storasta who’s served in the crusader army since the 1st Crusade
Grandmother Tessarda of Calistria (280) – don’t cross her. Quite fond of her half-human grand-daughter, but less so of Lady Katynika.
Uncles

EXTENDED FAMILY – MOTHER’S SIDE
Grandparents Detrick and Ionnia – both deceased.

Mother’s former husband Captain of the Barstoi County Guard, Sir Róka the Grim.

THIS is Cernan's ultimate grand prize. ;)

Don''t you just love PC's with simple motivations? ;D

That maybe was a Top 32 entry in the Superstar a couple of years ago I believe. HERE?

Plus I'm ready. :D

That was probably it.

And I haven't read the Gods and Magic book, but may have seen a post about the ability on one thread or another. Cernan is SO using that ability! (Dm permission to do so pending, of course) :D

Still think I saw something about using beer/wine as holy water,... maybe it was wishful thinking. Wouldn't be the first time. ;P

And I'm ready, or as close to it as I'll ever be. Gonna be busy at work this week, but I'll make time for a proper introductory post!

I'll also try to round out the background a little more. But there's NO way I'm competing with Kajehase for longest background! Someone has obviously had WAY to much time on their hands for this one! :)

So, on with the show? :)

Oh yes, I have a cleric of Cayden Cailean in my longstanding Savage Tide pbp (former barmaid turned cleric. Why not?!?), and she keeps the ship's crew quite happily well lubricated. I feel it's an essential part of the religion. :)

I also made the decision for my own characters that while many clerics pray for their spells at dawn, clerics of Cayden Cailean generally are still working on their hangovers at that time, and thus generally spend lunch praying for their recharge. XD

That,.. makes sense. :)

I like it!

I have a feeling that Cernan will be keeping any potential Alchemist in the party busy with making doses of 'Alchemist's Friend'.

Especially if he keeps being 'Generous with Caydean's Blessings!' ;D

Male Human Kensai Magus 1

I'm ready. The only question I really have is how long I have been in the past? I was thinking along the lines of literly just having arrived in the past. Also, would it be possible that I know of the rest of the party? Like from legend? These were the great heroes of the crusade even though they ultimately failed kinda thing and I'm here to alter the outcome in our favor.

I"m going to go with the assumption that Hiro arrives just as the adventure starts.

I would assume, if he's part of a world nearly overtaken by demonic forces, the beginning of the fight would come to him in bits and pieces, traveling halfway around the globe, and it would be garbled by time, distance, cultural differences and natural tendencies to exaggerate in storytelling (the longest game of telephone ever) enough that any knowledge he has will be...quite incomplete. He might eventually realize who he's fallen in with, but whose to say how much his own arrival is mucking with the timeline and changing who the heroes are?

there will be skill checks Hiro might be able to attempt that others wouldn't - but what he knows will depend on his rolls. :)

could you put a link to your character sheet on your character profile so I can find it easily? it would help me quite a bit!

Male Human Kensai Magus 1

Yeah I'm not really looking for a real knowledge gain from it. I'm more looking at it from a role playing opportunities to create awkward moments for the other PC's. think of him as that annoying Hollywood movie star groupie stalker who just won a "spend a day with your favorite movie star contest" and one or more PC's are the "lucky" stars.

It would, I would think, at least require introductions to be made, first. I would guess some of the characters would be flamboyant and unusual enough that you would have a reasonable chance of having heard something accurate about them, and being able to recognize them for who they are.

Male Human Kensai Magus 1

OK link to character sheet is now on my profile page. Had to get a computer and not my phone to figure it out.

Yeah, I may not even really know who they are only bits and pieces that were passed down through time which of course get completely distorted. And, of course, I have to be careful about disrupting the space-time continuum too much and have to be careful about what I may say while "geeking" out. (Yes, I, Worrgrendel, realize that my (Hiro) mere presence here takes the space-time continuum and throws it out the window, but Hiro is to naive to understand that telling someone about the past (their future) is of little consequence to the fact that because he is now in the past that future is, to be technical, borked.)

ZOMG Cernan! It's really you! I mean REALLY you! I thought you'd be taller... The way you fought at the battle of... err... I mean I can't believe that you took on umm... err... the BBEG all by yourself! And you didn't even spill a drop from your Everful Mug even when he ran you through... the umm... err... obstacle course! Yeah that's it the obstacle course! So brave!

Lol!

Oh this ought to be interesting. ;P

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Paladin 1

Roll for height and weight: 2d12 ⇒ (1, 9) = 10*7=70

Height = 5 ft 10 (178cm). Weight = 160 lbs (72,6 kg). So I'm guessing a female swimmer, football-, or handball-player would be a good comparison in terms of body-type.

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Paladin 1

At 5 ft 10 inches, Ionnia is slightly taller than average for a half-elf, with a lean, muscular, build due to her many hours of sword-practice, riding, and other physical activities.
Her brown eyes are set in a conventionally attractive face, framed by long, reddish-brown hair (unless she's in armour, in which case she keeps the hair up in elaborate braids).

For battle, she wears scale-armour embossed with the holy symbol of Shelyn on each scale over a green arming coat. In more casual situations she tends to favour either a green tunic over red hosen or a simple, yet flattering dress in either red or green with a matching bodice.

Willow is tall too , but lacking some of the lithe muscularity of Ionnia. Thus she looks to the other woman with a touch of awe and respect at the discipline required to maintain such a form. Whilst herself Willow tries hard to maintain her build to honour Shelyn, especially enhanced by the subtle flowing tattoo's she wears.

Favouring autumnal colours for dress, Willow generally wears long dresses when selling paintings or trousers for travelling. Her hair is usually found in one of a trio of styles, hidden under a head-scarf when painting, up and especially coiffed in ornate styles for when she wants to look acceptable, or flowing and down with a simple tail when travelling.

Pastel shades are worn upon special occasions as they don't wash out her pale creamy skin tones.

*curses the post-editing time limit*

Small clarification in bold.

I find this to be a really good resource for this sort of visualization:

Neat!

And because I got a bit of formatting-paranoia and started to worry it disappeared in the wall of text: That name of Ionnia's mentor I mentioned is Kaseyennia Shieldheart.

Yes, please. Dungeon Master Player 15/Dungeon Master 13/Monk 2(I'm out of practice!)

Now THAT'S a backstory! I think Kipka's is on her profile, I did not go into detail in the thread.

Female Gnome Ranger 1

How tall am I? How many siblings do I have? What are my parents names?!?!?!?!

Yes, please. Dungeon Master Player 15/Dungeon Master 13/Monk 2(I'm out of practice!)

I'm getting to it, I'm getting to it....

Female Gnome Ranger 1

Okay, apparently my father's name is Okone, my moms name is Lulu, I'm an only child and we are quite close as a result. I am also bisexual with a healthy sex drive.

Well, that explains much...

Hang on, you have red hair? So does Ionnia, so do I?
¬_¬
Thus we are a trio of red-haired beauties???

Female Half-Elf (Taldan) Paladin 1

The other crusader-groups are turning green with envy.

All man Agitator 1/Bluecollar Worker 2

Well, that or leaving the hair-bleaching stuff in for far too long.

So we'll be Nakamura's Angels?
With Cernan in Bosworth's role and Hiro being a mysterious figure behind us?

Bosley?!?

Hm. Yeah, I could work with that. :D

I might have to be careful with the red-haired comments though.
I might still have a Leetle bit of angst from having married/divorced one a few years ago.
:/

J/K

Mostly. :)

Hello Angels! Good morning Bosley. I've got an assignment for you. <queue Angels theme music> how do you feel about demonic invasions?

Yes, please. Dungeon Master Player 15/Dungeon Master 13/Monk 2(I'm out of practice!)

2'10 + 2d4 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
30 lbs + 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

Female Gnome Ranger 1

Sooo....I'm 3'4" and weigh 38 lbs. I wish I was taller to balance out my curves more, as it sometimes results in lascivious attention from some and rude comments from others, but I ain't giving up my halfling cuisine! munches on more halfling trail bread

Yum. They come in two varieties, sweet and savory, and this is the savory one. Freehold says that they are something like what you would call "hot pockets", but with less sauce, and they are not meant to be eaten hot- you'll scald your mouth badly. The sweet one is like a fruitcake without the rum(which i am told is something our cultures share), which I only enjoy when I'm feeling down.

Freehold insisted I watch some of the shared hallucinations/thinbox illusions about these "Angels", and I'm not Iimpressed. They seem more like wizards than anything divine(say thst around here and you'll get a boxed ear!), although i admit i am biased in that I find the "divine" dreadfully boring...and what is up with those horseless carriages? They always seem to go out of control at the most predictable time?! But I have to admit, they know their hair and how to handle themselves in a fight...

All man Agitator 1/Bluecollar Worker 2

I sure hope he didn't make you watch the second movie.

Male Human Kensai Magus 1

Second movie? Not to date myself but I was thinking the original TV show...

Yes. That.
