Arabella Stormworth-Darling |

Penalty: -2
Spirit: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Result = 6 - 2 (penalty) = 4, success.
Arabella glances at the small one, Validus. She's puzzled by the fact that Xvark attacked it. Perhaps they are just uncooperative and infighting, but she wonders. Can she see any wounds from the attacks Xvark made?

ZenFox42 |

Update (since the original is now in a previous screen) :
So left to act : Katana, Ror,
and WindDancer has a Joker!
Marko - you have 5/15 PP left.
Today's an extra short day (squeezing in a doctor's appointment before work), but I *might* be able to post my attacks around noon. If not, early tomorrow.
Status
Validus has taken 1 Wound and is Shaken.
Ror has taken 1 Wound and is Shaken.
Everyone is +1 Parry and +1 Toughness
Marko is -4 to hit in general, ends after round 3
K'Don has Quickness, ends after round 3
Panther goes away after round 2
DM has 6 Bennies
Katana has spent 1 Bennie
Validus has spent 2 PP
--------------------------------------------------
Ror : Parry=4, Toughness=10 (4 of which is armor)
Validus : Parry=8, Toughness=8
Xvark : Parry=6, Toughness=5

Arabella Stormworth-Darling |

I may have confused the icons and physical descriptions of Xvark and Validus, but what I noticed was that Xvark attacked Validus and almost immediately, Validus unleashed a psionic attack. Perhaps this is meta-gaming logic, but in the world of magic and all these other arcane wonders, anything is possible, so Arabella is wondering if Validus somehow can convert physical damage into psionic power. If so, the wounds Xvark made on Validus might not remain.

ZenFox42 |

No, his wounds are still there.
Yeah, I *could* have been home by as early as 11:30 (USA/EST) yesterday, in which case I would have made some posts. But those pesky students kept me later. My life as a teacher would be SO much easier without them! :)
And as for this morning, I intentionally slept late! 11 hours of sleep, and it's still not enough. More soon.

ZenFox42 |

Katana pummels Validus :
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 51d6 ⇒ 5 = 5 +2(gangup) = 7 just doesn't make it thru his Parry
Ror tries to recover from Shaken :
Spirit & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 1 = 4 +2(construct) = 6 so he can act
He reaches out to touch Marko :
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 91d6 ⇒ 4 = 9 +2(touch) -4(Deflection) = 7 vs. Marko's Parry of 5 is a success
Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7 vs. Toughness=5 is a Success
Marko feels an electric shock travel thru his body, and is Shaken.
Huh - not one single Ace in 8 rolls. Oh well - statistics happens.

ZenFox42 |

Initiative (start of round 3)
Alex : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 345
Arabella : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 388
Connor : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 169
K'Don : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 31
Marko : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 332
WindDancer : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 485
Katana : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 93
Ror : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 740
Validus : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 126
Xvark : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 436
So, in order : Ror, WindDancer, Xvark, Arabella, Alex, Marko, Connor, Validus, Katana,
and K'Don gets the Joker (act whenever, +2 attack, +2 damage, to both attacks)
I'll wait for K'Don's attacks (I'm assuming he'll go first), then post Ror's and Xvark's attacks later today. Then everyone else can post whenever.

Validus has taken 1 Wound and is Shaken.
Ror has taken 1 Wound.

*Some* of the Paizo boards were down all day yesterday (Goblins pic), and I never suspected that some boards could stay up while some were down, so I never checked. Some of them are *still* down, but I accidentally clicked on a different browser tab this morning and found others were active. Will know better next time.
===================================================================
*Very* close to perfect K'Don, but the first count of 4 (0,1,2,3) is merely a "Success", so you got 2 Raises which is 2 Wounds.
Trying to Soak :
Vigor & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 3 = 4 is a Success
So 1 Wound is Soaked
Validus takes 1 Wound and is Shaken
===================================================================
Ror tries to recover from Shaken :
Spirit & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 91d6 ⇒ 3 = 9 +2(construct) means he can act
EDIT ADDED LATER : I just noticed Ror wasn't Shaken, but to delete the above would change all the results below, so just ignore it.
And he tries to touch Marko again :
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 4 = 6 +2(touch) -4(Deflection) = 4 vs. Marko's Parry of 5 is a miss
But his hand is blocked by one of the mirrors swirling around Marko.
====================================================================
Xvark continues to attack Validus :
Fighting & Wild: 1d8 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 2
And swipes air as he misses wildly.
Status
Validus has taken 2 Wounds and is Shaken.
Ror has taken 1 Wound.
Everyone is +1 Parry and +1 Toughness
Marko is Shaken
Marko is -4 to hit in general, ends after round 3
K'Don has Quickness, ends after round 3
Panther goes away after round 2
DM has 5 Bennies
Katana has spent 1 Bennie
Validus has spent 2 PP
--------------------------------------------------
Ror : Parry=4, Toughness=10 (4 of which is armor)
Validus : Parry=8, Toughness=8
Xvark : Parry=6, Toughness=5

ZenFox42 |

K'Don - I just realized the +2's in your attack were probably from the Joker, but at the time I thought they were from gang-up (and I had forgotten about the Joker).
I'm not going to retro-active anything, but for future reference...
ALL - please, it's always a good idea to *always* indicate where each bonus in your roll is coming from, so I can quickly verify it. Such as :
3 +2(Joker) +2(gangup) +1(fav.wpn) = 8
That way I can also see if you've left anything out.
Thanks!

Connor Τaarnfalk |

Terribly sorry, I thought I'd declared WindDancer on Hold for the round already.
"Come on, come on!" Frustrated, Connor moves back in front of the door, looking for an opening.
Also on Hold. A shot at Ror from his prior position would've been at -6 Near Total Cover; even if he steps into the doorway it's still -2 Medium Cover and he's putting himself at risk.

Arabella Stormworth-Darling |

Arabella moves to the west wall to try to shoot both Vallidus and Xvark with Reason. If she can't include both without hitting K'Don, she'll aim far enough to the right so that she hits Xvark.
Shooting: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Result = 4
After failing to get the device to work, Arabella gets a blast out, but the discharge is rather slow to build, making it somewhat obvious that it is coming.
Sooner or later, there ought to be an ace. Reason now has 4 points left out of 10.

Alexander James Taarnfalk |

I've dropped ZF a PM, but in the interest of not holding things up, I'll just post this. ZF, please apply any necessary MAP.
Alexander holstered one of his guns, whipping out his rapier in its place. Darting forward with teeth bared, he attempted to jam the rapier between Ror's joints.
Rapier: 1d8 ⇒ 8
wild: 1d6 ⇒ 2
explode!: 1d8 ⇒ 3 = 11 - 1 raise? depending on MAP
possible dmg: 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (3) + (4) = 7
raise dmg?: 1d6 ⇒ 2
exploding dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1 = 8 (without raise)

WіndDancer |

Which acronyms? PM? PM = Private Message. It's sort of like internal email. The little envelope at the top of your Paizo page will be marked and have a number by it if you've received one, and you can click it to go to your "mailbox." I'll send you one so you can see how it works.
MAP = Multi-Action Penalty. The price you pay for doing additional things during a melee round.
ZF = ZenFox42, our illustrious GM. :o)
Others?

ZenFox42 |

Arabella, remember for Shooting a 4 is a Success. Or were you thinking of other penalties you didn't explicitly show? Otherwise, roll damage! :)
And having cut out a cone to the scale of our map, you can't hit Validus without hitting both K'Don and Katana, so I guess it's just Xvark.
(Just checking, since you had the icons confused before - the centipedes said your gun would probably work best on *Ror*)
Alex - the MAP is 2, so 11-2 = 9
1. The panther/wolf went away last round, so there's no gang-up bonus there.
And since Marko needs to keep both hands free to cast, he's not a gang-up threat either.
2. So 9 vs. 4 is a Raise on the attack.
3. So that would be 10 damage total, vs. his Toughness of 10 is a Success, leaving him Shaken (you shorted out a couple of wires or something).
BUT (see Discussion), please make an Agility roll at -2 to have been able to get your rapier out and ready to attack in the first place. You declared you were holstering, I merely pointed out the "drop the gun" as an alternative for future reference.
Marko, Connor, Validus, Katana still have actions, but please let's wait *a little bit* for Arabella and Alex to finish their actions, it may make a difference.

Arabella Stormworth-Darling |

The rules say that a character who is only partly covered by a template of an area effect is affected. They don't have to be completely covered. A line that goes from Arabella's top let corner to the top left corner of Validus covers portions of both aliens without touching K'Don or Katana. The rules are vague about how you place the template but it seems she ought to be able to direct it to hit both foes and miss both friends, but your call.
I forgot to roll the damage because I was expecting these guys, particularly, Xvark, to be able to make an agility roll of 4, but snake-eyes happen, so ...
Non-Lethal damage: 2d10 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
Probably not enough to affect them, but at least it gives them something to worry about.

ZenFox42 |

I'm holding off on continuing with everything for a reason that I can't explain yet.
But I can handle Arabella's shot :
I did find a position with my little cone cut-out that hits Validus and Xvark.
And I was wrong about a 4 being a successful hit, your Shooting result is the TN your targets need to beat to avoid the shot. So *their* TN=4 to avoid this shot. (BUT, notice that *you* still need to roll at least a 4 to *activate* the gun.)
Validus Agility: 1d8 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 2 = 6 so Validus avoids it
Xvark Agility: 1d8 ⇒ 51d6 ⇒ 3 = 5 so Xvark avoids it
(P.S. Arabella - please remind me of their Agility roll vs. your Shooting roll to avoid every time, I'm afraid my memory is shot. Thanks!)

WіndDancer |

What does "avoid it" mean? I'm having a hard time imagining a 25% chance (on a d4) -- or even a 0.01% chance -- of what amounts to dodging a bullet.

ZenFox42 |

Before I handle Validus and Katana...
While Alex's rapier is still stuck in the shoulder joint of Ror, Marko's bolt of light strikes Ror as well.
Suddenly, there's the crackle of electricity and the smell of ozone as sparks and arcs fly around both Ror and Alex.
Alex's body goes rigid, and he cannot let go of the rapier. You watch helplessly as his body spasms.
Finally after what seemed like an eternity but was only a few seconds, Alex drops to the floor.
ALL - see Discussion. Validus and Katana tomorrow.

ZenFox42 |

Marko - you were Shaken last round, please make a Spirit roll (TN=4) to be able to have cast that last light bolt.
===================================================================
Validus holds perfectly still for a moment, then :
Psionics & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 91d6 ⇒ 3 = 1 Raise
K'Don - you feel yourself starting to be lifted up off the ground by an unseen force. Make a Spirit roll vs. TN=9.
=======================================================================
Katana attacks Validus :
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 21d6 ⇒ 4 = 4 +2(gangup) = 6 does not get past Parry=8
Darn it! When copying the Status I noticed Validus was Shaken, rolling here to avoid changing the above...
Spirit & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 3
Spending a Benny so he can act.
Validus has taken 2 Wounds.
Ror has taken 2 Wounds and is Shaken. (Or 1W + S if Marko fails)
Everyone is +1 Parry and +1 Toughness
Marko is Shaken ------------------------ maybe???
Marko is -4 to hit in general, ends after THIS ROUND
K'Don has Quickness, ends after THIS ROUND
DM has 4 Bennies
Katana has spent 1 Bennie
Validus has spent 7 PP
--------------------------------------------------
Ror : Parry=4, Toughness=10 (4 of which is armor)
Validus : Parry=8, Toughness=8
Xvark : Parry=6, Toughness=5
The "Status" list was getting kind of big, so I'm trying this. It still includes the bad guy's Parry and Toughness for you to reference!. Post comments on this new style in Discussion.

ZenFox42 |

Everyone sees K'Don suddenly fly across the room, and smash into one of the metal walls :
Damage: 1d10 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + (5) = 14 vs. Toughness 9 is a Raise
The force of the impact jars him even inside his full plate armor.
K'Don takes 1 Wound and is Shaken
He's also prone as the breath gets knocked out of him and he slides down the wall onto the floor.
K'Don has 1 Wound and is Shaken.
Validus has taken 2 Wounds.
Ror has taken 1 Wound and is Shaken.
Everyone but K'Don is +1 Parry and +1 Toughness
Marko is Shaken
DM has 4 Bennies
Katana has spent 1 Bennie
Validus has spent 7 PP
--------------------------------------------------
Ror : Parry=4, Toughness=10 (4 of which is armor)
Validus : Parry=8, Toughness=8
Xvark : Parry=6, Toughness=5

ZenFox42 |

To recap round 3
K'Don slices his sword into Validus, leaving a deep gash.
Ror misses Marko, Xvark misses Validus.
Arabella shoots at Validus and Xvark, missing them both.
Validus throws K'Don up against a wall.
Katana attacks Validus, but misses.
Alex drops the alien gun, pulls out his rapier and attacks Ror. But something goes horribly wrong as the rapier enters a gap in Ror's shoulder joint, and Alex appears to be electrocuted. There are burn marks all over his body, and smoke curling up from his clothes.
K'Don no longer has Swiftness.
Marko no longer has Mirror Deflection.
Marko, don't forget to give yourself back the 2 PP from the bolt that didn't happen.
Initiative (start of round 4)
Alex : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 916
Arabella : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 542
Connor : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 121
K'Don : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 519
Marko : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 445
WindDancer : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 634
Katana : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 373
Ror : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 123
Validus : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 236
Xvark : Init: 1d1000 ⇒ 809
So in order : (Alex), Xvark, WindDancer, Arabella, K'Don, Marko, Katana, Validus, Ror, Connor

ZenFox42 |

It just heals 1 Wound.
Xvark looks over directly at Arabella, holds his arm out with his hand up, rotates his hand back and forth (this is one time PbP sucks, sitting around a table I could just *do* it) and says "Naga! Naga! Klaatu barada nikto!"
And attacks Validus :
Fighting & Wild: 1d8 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 5 = 7 + 1(gangup) = 8 vs. Parry=8 is a Success
Damage: 1d10 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + (1) = 10 vs. Toughness=8 is a Success
Validus is Shaken.

Arabella Stormworth-Darling |

Arabella begins to wonder if the diminutive denizen of deep space is somehow an ally. She shrugs and cuts across the room until she has a straight shot at the tin man with reason.
Fourth time's a charm, she thinks, then levels reason, aims slightly to the right of the android, to protect Alex and Marko, and shoots.
Shooting: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Result = 3, Reason does not fire, 2 power points used up. Curse words muttered.

ZenFox42 |

(I posted the following verbatim yesterday, and now it's gone. Still wondering how often that happens because I review and then forget to submit.
WD/Connor, did you get an alert that there had been a post here yesterday?)
-WOW, the dicebot really doesn't like that gun! :)
-Will wait for Marko to post, then handle my NPC's.

Connor Τaarnfalk |

WD/Connor, did you get an alert that there had been a post here yesterday?)
Not sure, yesterday was nuts and I didn't get to follow my games much. Not sure if the program I use has a log or not. I'll check when I get home this evening and if it does I'll let you know. Remind me if I don't follow up, please.
As for the missing post, I'll just observe that Paizo did go down for a while yesterday.

Katana42 |

Katana continues to attack Validus :
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 4 She's not having a good day.
Spending a Bennie
Fighting & Wild: 1d10 ⇒ 101d6 ⇒ 4
Explode: 1d10 ⇒ 5 = 15 +1(gangup) = 16 vs. Parry=8 is 2 Raises
Now if she can only do as well on the damage...
Damage: 1d8 + 1d4 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + (3) + 2 + (1) = 12 vs. 8 is a Raise!
Validus takes a Wound and is Shaken
