Since the bible talks about 'the armor of God' and the weapon is a sword, and the 'Spirit of God' is like two edged sword; how can any cleric of Christianity not be automatically trained in a double edged longsword, then also given the weapon of their patron saint or angel if they are Catholic? There needs to be a perk for catholic clerics, I mean Rome is saving the world from the apocalypse right?Because most catholic churchmen also swore oaths not to spill blood unless it was of the enemies of the church - so they tended to practise (if they practised at all) with bludgeoning weapons which never 'spilt blood'.
I remembered that from the good old AD&D days.
But since GM Cody said we were channeling a little "Supernatural" I thought I would try. Anyway all the Military orders used swords, I figured it might not be a bad idea to try and get Maud the use of a sword.
I mean lets face it, if God had a weapon of choice, biblically speaking, it would be a double edged sword...

Well =) Robert knows why ;)

UhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHH
Actually, as far as I know, the whole 'no slashing weapons' thing is just a fabrication of D&D - nothing stopped priests from picking up swords and cutting people down. A mace is just as much a weapon as a sword.
In fact, now that I think about it, Extra Credits talked about this very topic during one of their Extra History episodes. I think it was the crusades?
But yeah, no, AFAIK the only reason clerics don't wield swords in D&D by default is game balance. Cool, dangerous weapons were for the Fighter in old D&D.

And when you have undead walking, that's when evocation skool comes in handy. BTW I'll probably be cantripping this, I only have like 3 spells/day. Unless you want enlarge, Elek?

No lets save it for something big! like a bunch of skeletons or rats, lots of rats, but not a swarm, their no fun

Celeste Aiden |

Unfortunately unlike elf wizards I usually play, I don't have longbow proficiency so I cant really function as an archer.
I guess I get to sit around and twiddle thumbs like low level casters usually do.

Badahir |

Let me look at the map again really quickly... I must be confused about something.
AHHH. I see. Okay, so what confuses me is there SEEMS to be a door where I was gonna move Badahir? But that door doesn't actually lead to the room, at least from where Badahir is?
I'll go up the stairs instead if that's the case. I'll delete my present post and move Badahir back until I fully understand what that white door-shaped thing is. I assume it's actually a door that's upstairs.

Celeste Aiden |

I think what happened is that Elek went up the stairs and the rest of us either stayed down or didn't move etc. I'd be happy to follow Elek. The only thing I'd be unhappy about would be standing in front. ^^
Elek! If you get into any trouble, shut the door!

Badahir |

Well, Maud is closest. If she and I both double move up the stairs (now that I better understand the situation) we'll both be pretty close. It can go Elek-Maud-Badahir-Celeste-Lucius?

GM Cody |

Yeah, I made a clarification in the gameplay thread and fixed some of the map, the more I looked at it the more I realized it had doorways that lead to places they couldn't possible lead to!
I covered up these extra doors so hopefully the map should no longer be confusing.

Badahir |

On suspicion of my computer having a virus, I will be reformatting my computer. Expect 1-2 days of wait before I can post again. Sorry!

Celeste Aiden |

Bahadir - I want to colourspray but I need the square to your NW. I can catch both without friendly fire, if you get out of the way.
As it is now, you're in the way. If you feel charitable you could 5ft and ready to reposition/bull rush me into the stairway area, should colourspray fail.

Celeste Aiden |

Elek - check the room next to the Cardinal?
Please don't give me the lecture on patience :p
Edit: I just realised we might have been able to squeeze some information out of them if we had not been so quick about executions. Again, I don't fancy talking to denziens of hell. They might try to mislead us for sh*ts and giggles.

Elek Kardforgató |
didn't want to clutter game thread with discussion so I brought this here
Examining the blood trial it looks like the blood trail ended by the robes and there should have been a body where the blood pooled. Seems like the blood trail extends through the tunnel and must've started by the alter.
The demon's came from room 5
Should have been a body there? Or there was a body there? Just wanting to make sure there isn't a body unaccounted for, I hate undead, Elek, I meant Elek hates undead.

GM Cody |

The body does seem to be missing, its not even like there are footprints indicating the body got up and walked itself off or blood drippings making it seem like the body was carried away. Its just gone.

Celeste Aiden |

I hates undead too. Can't do much magicky things to undead, and no I am NOT that kind of wizard

Firstly, I’m going to be posting different versions of this in different games that I’m in, but I want to make sure that it’s known why I’ve been absent for roughly a week - from the whole forum, not just this thread. And it goes like this:
1.So, as I probably posted previously, my computer decided to go berserk and I needed to reformat it.
2. It then decided that a day or two later would be a great time to die altogether. Problematically, I have no other device capable of browsing the web.
3. Then my nieces chose to visit for a couple days, and I was spending time with them.
4. At the same time, my mom has been recovering from surgery, meaning I’m doing more driving than usual…
5. ...my car wound up needing some heavy repairs…
6. ...and work has frankly become pretty uncomfortable for me, so I’m actively searching for a new job.
With all that said and done, I’ve lost a lot of spare time and a LOT of money. I did replace my computer (and hoo boy is the new computer nice), but as such I’ve realized that I’m going to have to drop out of a few games.
I will be leaving in this game, but I feel I needed to give an explanation for my absence anyway. I'm willing to try and make sure I give my character a proper out - or a glorious death - before I leave.
I apologize for the inconvenience, and I sincerely hope there’s no bad blood caused by my absence.
As an aside: I actually really enjoyed Badahir's interactions with Elek and Celeste especially, and I'd actually love to RP with you guys in the future if my schedule gets better. But right now, it's looking a little dismal as far as available time goes.

GM Cody |

I understand completely, I'm saddened to lose you but perhaps there'll be a chance to rejoin later on down the road when things have settled down a bit :).
I can also handle phasing your character out if you'd like.

Badahir |

That's what I'm hoping - I actually would like Badahir to live so there's opportunity for him to come back if things settle down. Specifically, I'm trying to get a new job, and the industry I'm eyeballing is call centers. If I get into that, I might have more chances to post during the day anyway...
But as of right now, things are hectic as all get-out.
Yikes. Looks like a nasty mess...good luck with sorting RL out.
I'll miss ribbing you :(
Wow, sad to hear Badahir, I hope things go well for you, I enjoyed the RP also.
Yeah, I'm hoping I get to come back and rejoin you guys soon. Fingers crossed.

Celeste Aiden |

The patrol - what do we do? Jump them? Easy enough to go, hey, over here, by shooting a crossbow bolt. But we probably want to pick our battle ground since they are the same number as us. Anyone wants enlarge person?

Celeste Aiden |

Good idea, we stay hid, and wait till they kill themselves. Generally if an enemy jumps in, everyone will stop their disagreements and turn on the enemies.
D@mn it, no ghost sound. Can't egg people on :P

Celeste Aiden |

The problem is that I don't know if the building has place - it will again, depend on if we want to fight them in at the entrance in the street.
Aka - we're in the street, they're in the building. Might risk drawing more patrols.
But it's good positioning for us if we can carry it off.

Elek Kardforgató |
ok, Elek is about to shoot at the cambion with his crossbow. Should he drop the CB and move toward them, or do you all want to draw them to us?
GM Cody, is it rough terrain between us and the demons? How far are they away?
edit Sorry just looked at the map, how much of the exterior wall is standing, how much of he interior wall (between H4 and H2) is standing? Just wondering if Elek has a clean shot at the cambion,
we can't afford for any of them to escape, and I would prefer killing the strongest enemy first, I assume that is the cambion

GM Cody |

Sure, the house is for the most part intact, the area that collapsed was that far section covered in a big rock/rubble.
Its not rough terrain.

Elek Kardforgató |
Hey GM Cody,
I wasn't thinking when I had Elek take the second shot. I never identified what I did with the sword offered by Maud.
I was intending to take the second shot and then taking the sword offered from Maud. Is it possible she had set it down, or still has it held in such a fashion that he can take it from her and draw it from it's scabbard at the same time?
My plan was to draw it and attack. But if he has to pick it up, then draw it, then attack, I need to add a move action and won't be able to attack till the next round.
I assume if it's on the ground he can draw it from the scabbard as he picks it up. But we didn't specify it's location, so I thought I would ask.
I just don't want to appear to be cheating. Originally though it would be one move action and an attack. But if it is two move actions and then an attack, please let me know.
Cam I can retcon telling her to lay it down, then I pick it up in the third round and attack with it?

GM Cody |

Elek, I answered in gameplay your question, but I'll reiterate here that I don't mind you being able to draw it from off the ground and attack with it but I believe it provokes an Attack of Opportunity to pick it up.
Lucius, do you feel that the first level power from the Clarion domain is too weak? I tried to balance it by making the higher level ability better and by providing decent spells as domain spells.
I'm open to talking about it, I wanted it to seem thematic but the deafened condition isn't that great, -4 to Initiative, -4 to perception and a 20% spell failure chance. We could add like 1d6 sonic or something to it?

![]() |

I think the issue with it is that the condition doesn't help in combat. Perfectly good outside (if I want to get the drop on someone) but less good inside. Maybe change it for either Dazed (with a 'only effected once per day' clause) or for Staggered (for one round either way)? That way it would actually have some utility and I think having immensely loud trumpets blown all around you causing you to be staggered/dazed temporarily would be reasonably thematic!

Celeste Aiden |

Elek - I told you you need space?
Anyway - even if you can't get a cold iron weapon, its fine. Just a matter of hit them hard enough so it gets through them, DR or not.

GM Cody |

Its okay, you'll just push everyone out of the way, no penalties or anything.
Celeste has the right idea, just hit them hard enough and it won't matter much :).

Elek Kardforgató |

I was considering stepping back, that would have let the other two demons out of the room, If Elek stays here we keep them clogged up.

Celeste Aiden |

It'll happen eventually anyway. Or I could delay after the cambion, but the cambion could delay until there's an opening. Suffice to say I feel its metagamimg to see the stuff going in "rounds" per se.
