If we're drawing on real Earth history for flavor, would the Chasserets region (France/Spain) have naval trade routes to the Soley Islands and the areas of Esparada (gulf of Mexico)? I was thinking about tying in some Moorish style djinni fluff


@Alasdair: I can whip up the constellations for you but yes there are other planets in the solar system. Let me know what you need.

@Melusine: Strand and Chasserets would have naval trade routes yes. Loch Aislinn would not. At this time in the 1850s however, the trade routes have diminished as former colonies have become independent.

Nope.

If it continues to sleep, then it's not fighting. If it wakes up, then we can try to calm it down (but more likely fight it).

As far as stars and planets go, I mostly want to have things I can reference while rambling about astrology. A list of particularly significant constellations—a Zodiac equivalent, perhaps—and their associated superstitions, as well as a list of other planets close enough to be visible to astronomers, would be convenient.


I will update tomorrow around my noon (-5:00) and give the chance for Melusine and Alexander to chime in.

@Melusine: Yes you should be making rolls when you can. I only roll when it saves time or it would require you to roll after one of my responses.

@Melusine: "dangerous" beasties. If you can shoo the frog out it's for the better, no need to fight it unless you're directly attacked is what you assume the Museum wants.

It travels very well from what I understand. Even better than in air. You just need to be able to make it in the first place, which is the hard part.

Luckily with air bubbles, we can talk freely.


Not a scientist, but wouldn't the sound be hard to hear as it moves from air to water to air again?

Hmmmm...I imagine it travels no worse than talking to someone underwater when you're above it. A little muffled, maybe, but still audible at least, I imagine...

I think it would only be possible to tell someone that someone IS talking, the rest would be up to body language. I could see Kha'Rassi yanking on something, then turning and saying something to me... Also this is why I haven't been talking

Maybe your perception is way higher than mine IRL but I can't make out anything underwater


Don't be afraid to instigate fights and be the aggressor. I don't want us swimming around in the water for another week. You've recovered the goods, and I'm willing to, as mentioned before, skip past non-important combats. Good roleplay trumps 2 week long back and forth versus a fish a and a frog.

Heh...Kha'Rassi has no swimming skills, throwing stuff is a little difficult underwater and she doesn't even have sneak attack.

If a fight starts, then a fight it is, but no way in Asmodeus's infernal farts is she initiating it...


I'm just going to go ahead and roleplay the story then, let's not be stuck in the water for any longer. The adventure waits ashore. (Also maybe eventually get a rank or so in Swimm, who knows)

I'm sure there are better purchases but 250gp worth of healing potions can't be too bad of an idea.


Most of the salvage is still being identified. It's only been a few hours after all. The papers were dried and studied in the meantime.


Large workload week. Tomorrow I'll give a large update and move us along!


So just checking in, I see not many of us are active this week. Is there a general sense of everyone's busy?

If the campaign itself is too slow or something else, feel free to let me know. I want to provide the game you all want to play.

I still check multiple times a day, but I think we're ready to *do* things now, rather than keep preparing to do so. We skipped over the first combat, so everything we've done so far has been underwater where we could barely communicate and then talking. Talking is good, but we also need action so that we have something more to talk about.


Perfect then! In the future feel free to have characters state that clearly. I'm used to giving breathing room for players to discuss among themselves and have discussions.

No, they don't. They are tied to your character until you submit them to a specific post, and then they are tied to that post.
