Ok just double checking I didn't want to fudge any rolls to fix a screw-up. I'm liking where this is going! Mind you guys that until we get some levels under our belts I'm most useful for only a couple encounters per day.
Also I <3 color spray, it's probably going to be prepared everyday for a while.
I haven't used firearms in pathfinder except once before so I keep forgetting all the rules -_-
That character was one of my all time favorites, the DM had us come up with deep backstories and then awarded us some type of major bonus from it.
Vix, for short, was a gnome schooled in chemistry, from a magic-less area. She made gunpowder and would sometimes go on deliveries to be the "technical" seller. Grain sizes, additives for better flash points, and that jargon; but her caravan was attacked one day.
Being deathly afraid of combat she quickly hid under the wagon. A box fell off during the attack right next to the wheel she was behind when a voice spoke. "You need me, I help dispose of them" it said. She reached in the box and pulled out an ornate pepperbox pistol when something took control of her. She rolled out from under the wagon and quickly disposed of the three remaining attackers and two caravan members, blood boiling out of the new orifices in their faces. They all fell. She dropped the gun and passed out.
When she awoke she found that she was the only survivor that day. They were almost to the destination city so she tried her best to wrangle the horse-drawn carriage there.
Her heritage magic apparating for the first time being a magic-zone startled her, so she left the war torn arms business to study illusion at the school of wizardry. She learned that the gun, that she now carries wrapped up so she doesn't accidentally touch it, is intelligent; it is inhabited with the essence of an infernal dire badger. It speaks to her. Friendly isn't the right word to describe their relationship.
I forget the build exactly but she had this awesome ability to maintain a minor illusion without concentration or something? It's been years. There were some great Wiley Coyote-esque moments with create pit, illusions, grease, and mad monkeys lmao

Never got to hear why tf he picked that... But I think I shot it twice in the whole campaign. Once after clearing a sewer of half black dragon giant rats and giant centipedes we encountered the dragon. He was not happy about us killing his progeny that he "worked so hard to create." Vix quipped "is it really trying very hard, screwing rats and bugs?" "Well maybe I'll have some Gnomes in my brood next!"
That dragon finally got taken down by a called shot to the groin. He didn't normally allow called shots but decided to roll with it after that rape-y vibe. 20. 20. Max damage rolls. He described this unbelievable shot as manifesting as the flaming head of a demon honeybadger erupting out of the barrel to get his... err... cobra. Badgerflame takes what it wants

So who are you all IRL if you don't mind me asking
My name's Sam, I'm 30 and from Arkansas. I went to college for architectural drafting and wine making but only ever use the latter XD
Started out on D&D 3.0 in high school, 3.5 was bae, 4.0 can suck it, then pathfinder seemed more balanced. I used to like breaking characters in 3.5 a little too much, but if you say it's RAW... it'll be raw.
When I was first starting on play by post games I was in a 64 person tournament, 1v1 with several dm's. Strict rules, gladiator-ish. Use it if you got it. I made a Halfling rogue knife thrower. The DM let us dump stats down to 4 in point buy, so my dude was rude and ugly af. Total level was 13 I think, Rogue/ Fighter/ Ranger /Swashbuckler /WhisperKnife /MasterThrower /InvisibleBlade. Convinced the DMs that a monk's belt let me qualify for Kung Fu Genius. Some gloves in an FR book gave any weapon in his hands throwing and returning. Ring of Blink gave constant +4d6 sneak, had as much TWF and Rapid Shot as possible, daggers of Wounding doing 1 CON dmg each shot, and Master Thrower made every attack a trip attempt; STR or DEX DC vs my 1d20+11 or fall prone. With a ridiculous initiative he always went first and the first throw or two tripped them. A Minotaur made the check once.
Astonished by how ugly Dirk was, the other finalist made quick work of him. Readied, Quickened, Maximized Ego Whip. CHA damage. Boom, coma. The top 4 became the adventuring party.
Anyway, sorry for flooding the board. I have hours before work, couldn't sleep and kinda bored.

My name's Matt, I'm 25 and I teach 2nd grade up in Canada. Played AD&D, then 3.5, then PF and haven't looked back. I enjoy 5th too when I play with campers.
I am also in the middle of my final grading weekend, so I need to commit to grading these little nuggets so I'll have your fight post update tomorrow or monday morning. After this, I'm home free.

Colin, 19, College student of French on the American North-East Coast. Picked up pathfinder for a campaign and decided to make one character for every conceivable class and race combination, no repeats, and am currently 0.001% of the way completed with about 65 bajillion characters.
Mostly I like making characters, but playing them is an extra special treat I don't get often.
I work in retail and it pays some of my bills, not too much else interesting.

Name's Albert. Native born Texan, lived here for decades, like it or not. I turned 36 last month and I still can't stand the heat. Trying to score a job in Colorado somewhere so I can live near the mountains and go snowboarding. Had a fender bender recently, crumpled the front end of a Chevy Sonic in rush hour stop-n-go and learned that unless your ticket is over $400 or so, defensive driving isn't worth it. At least not in Texas...

My name is Jeff, I'm 42, and I live in Houston. I played 1st edition (barely) in high school, but most of my years were spent with 2nd edition and 3.x. 4th edition never interested me, but I've heard that certain aspects to it are good, depending on your play style. I've heard good things about 5th edition, but I don't have time to cram another rules system into my head. I still sometimes find myself thinking in 2E rules before I catch myself.
Having a job, marriage, and two small kids makes it difficult to get out for a regular gaming night, so I started looking around for online games... and I'm not even sure how I came across Pathfinder. I think it's definitely an improvement over 3.5, but it is well into the power creep that hurt 3.5. I'm looking forward to seeing what Pathfinder 2 offers.

If they can manage to standardize some of the math and compress some of the jargon into something more digestible to players without sacrificing too much of the variety we have, they'll have quite a hit on their hands.

yeah the main reason I like pathfinder over 5e is that, while it is close to incomprehensible with the sheer number of rules, there's also an absurd amount of content, probably 20 times the size of all the 5e material right now. If Pathfinder 2 gets the same amount of content, I will gladly switch over. But I don't think that's gonna happen out of the gate, and so I'm expecting to not switch for a loooong time.

Kha'Rassi |

I dunno about that; I've been surprised before. I'd be okay with losing some content, even just temporarily, if it means a more consistent and navigable system because then they can just import what's missing afterwards; since we already HAVE a ton of content, importing is bound to be less than half the work of creating so it won't take nearly as long.
Hell I'd be happy with some feat taxes gone and some archetypes fixed...

Ompeet with the hot take on Socialism
He's going to get fairly ridiculous about it. :)
Yeah that was awesome. Hope Melusine didn't freak you guys out too much. She's brash and drunk on power
I wasn't sure if it was that, or if she's just reacting to the adrenaline and shock over just having easily killed people.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ompeet: Socialist hominid ex-slave with a big stick and a serious side
Alex: Naive studious PETA activist frog man with snake friend
Kha'Rassi: Khajiit stole nothing! Khajiit is innocent of this crime!
Melusine: Narcissistic drunk sailor witch waving a gun around

Melusine du Tromblon |

My bad I totally misread this-
"I used these cuffs to chain myself to the gates of a mine near Maqnaa. A company was mining phlogiston from the earth there without any return to the villages that have lived on the land for centuries. They wouldn't even hire local workers!"
I initially read it that you were a miner. I need sleep real bad.
*activist not slave
sorry o_o

Ompeet Ndongo |

But Khajiit IS innocent of this crime!
nothing was said of the other crimes though...
*COUGH*sorry what?
The "law" is just a social construct, so you are answerable to those you have wronged, not any "government" that claims to represent them. You're probably fine.
