I assume it is a 15 foot wide hallway. Taking a 20 on my 5 foot square, nearest to the outer wall, takes 2 minutes.

We will take time to search for a lever or something to turn off the fireworks. If nothing then heading back to Cil.


Near the entrance, inside the hallway Jake finds a loose stone which is emanating some heat.

Tanira notices how Jake's attention turns to something in particular. "Found anything? Just be careful..."

She makes a casual gesture and mumbles the words of the single one spell she probably casts most often - Detect Magic.

Cil carefully sifts through the gear left on the dear departed goblins...

She notices a number of weapons of quality but nothing of use to her, still she puts them aside in case the others have a chance to look.

As she goes, she takes up a number of pouches, pouring their contents into her own. Three potions she comes across likewise disappear into her pack.

Taken : 5 pp, 135 gp, 98 sp, 57 cp, 3 potions CLW

She then hurries to catch up with the others..arriving just as Jake starts moving his loose stone.

hopefully Quantos got to spellcraft those potions before you swiped 'em. We will want to know what they do.

Quantos looks through the mass of weapons as one blacksmith would the wares of another's smithy. It's been a long time since I've held the hammer, he thought.

Quantos grabs the masterwork items that he comes across, placing them in his handy haversack after ensuring the sharp ones are in scabbards. He will also grab a small steel shield, and stuff the quarrels of 50 bolts in a side pouch as well.

Wedge it out how Jake?

Tanira:
After 3 rounds you can tell that the stone does emanate magic.

Sleight of hand check vs. perception check you two. Otherwise Quantos why don't you ask to check them out.

Quantos and Cil make sure to add those items to your loot section on your character sheet.

"The stone is enchanted..." Tanira seems rather thoughtful and focused as she speaks, as though she was set off into a slightly different reality.

Yes the fire seems to be created by magic and the bursts of flame as if from a scorching ray or burning hands spell. All the spells seem to be evocation even the magical aura coming off the stone.

Cil takes a look down the flaming corridor, her brow furroughed. Glancing over at Jake, fiddling with the stone in the wall "Enchanted? Nasty business. Lemme take a look"

She then begins a survey of the area...

Perception (trap-finding) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Disable device 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18


Jake pulls out the adamantium dagger and gets to work getting the stone loose not trying to pull it out with his hands first. He cuts into the stone as if it were butter and the spell within explodes. All the fires blast as if all the spells go off at once. Reflex DC 18 to take half of Fire: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 2) = 10.

Saronis had been searching for a latch or lever in his area, until Jake said something he didn't pay Jake's area any note. Before he can say much more Jake is sticking a knife in it. He curses as he jumps from the explosion twisting just enough to not take the full brunt of the blast. "Well that sure is a way to bring down the house. Tanira please see to healing the group, thank you."

not sure how close Quantos would have been, but here is a save just in case. as far as i know he was the last to enter this current room.

Cil is looking about as the device explodes....

Tendrils of superheated gas fill the area. Cil with innate grace manages to flip herself over one that may have cut her in half, but is grazed by a billowing cloud of fire on the other side.

Stalking up to Jake, the left side of her leather armour still smoking , jabs her finger into his chest "From now on, leave the trap-dealing-with to the pros...."

Tanira is still collapsed on the floor and breathes heavily since she has and sweat gleams over her forehead. She's on the verge of collapse. She slowly gets a wand out and activates it, causing her skin to severely smoothen and the signs of burns to diminish.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

That's effectively 4 hit points back because taking a standard action while being reduced to 0 hit points causes one damage after the action is taken.

Still being wounded, even though not on the brink of death anymore she decides to use another charge.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

While she does seem a little grumpy she tries to swallow her frustration down and go on with healing her comrades.

Further heals on others:
Cil: Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Quantos: Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Saronis: Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 (yes, you did take five damage, the saving throw was for "relex halves" and you don't have evasion)
Jake: Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 (no saving throw yet)

Tanira, I though it was a full round action makes you take a point of damage.

The fires all begin to diminish and no flames seem to be billowing out of the fires to the right anymore. Tanira is healing the group as they slowly begin to recouperate from the explosion. Quantos was luckily out of the range of the blast and the healing is given to Jake instead.

Jake Reflex save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 So after the healing and him saving from the blast, he is at 20/26 hp.

"Thank you Tanira, Cil would you check ahead for us. Everyone else keep your eyes out for anything that is amiss." He says quietly to the group as he gets himself to his feet again sword in one hand.

With one last dirty look at Jake, Cil strides to the fore and begins to carefully move forward, looking for any other traps.

With a few quick glances Cil does not see any other triggers. She leads the group slowly down the hallway.

There are four fried corpses of goblins if someone wants to loot them.

This hallway goes about half way around and a steel door with a large lock on it blocks your way.

This whole scenery is so unreal that Tanira has hard time not to give in to the feeling of being homesick. The lush forests - not jungles - she came from. Well, with the witches that didn't want her. Temples, caverns, traps and steel doors are not her usual terrain.

"I am afraid I have no idea how to open that one, unless it isn't locked. But, given the recent traps, I'd appreciate if one who knows what they are doing checks that."

She takes a step back and holds her "Cure Serious Wounds" wand ready, in case one of her comrades needs help quickly.

"I am still a little puzzled with all the dead bodies over here. Who was the attacker and who was the defender. I would have thought the goblins were originally meant to get through... How many different parties are at work here and what do they all want?"

The only spell she has left from the very first fights of today - not counting her wands - is a charm spell. She's really good at it, but she doubts this door can be charmed.


The few goblin bodies in the flame room were at the beginning of the room and only about 20 feet in at the most.

"hmmm..." Tanira checks the dead goblins in the area to see whether they were all burned or whatever killed them, while the rest investigates the door.

Cil steps forward, eyes moving all about the door and the ground leading up to it.

If any traps are found, she takes out her tools and begins the work to disarm the device(s)

if no traps are found, she confidently approaches the door and begins examining it's locking mechanism, if any.

Quantos pays attention to Tanira, to see if any magical consultation is needed; he also pays attention to Cil, to avoid setting off any traps he favors stepping in places she has already been.


Tanira, the goblins were all killed by burning flames.

No traps found Cil. Though the lock seems to be complex if not old. Still you were not able to open it. DC 20 and you open it, if you get a 10 or less the lock is jammed.

Once you get through the door.:
On the other side of the door is three rough looking men with weapons and armor. They have weapons drawn but are 15 feet away with a small barricade of stone between them and you. "Whoa! Wait a minute you ain't Drow, what are you doing here, there is no need for extra blood spilt?"

About 30 feet behind them you can see another large doorway.

Perception DC 15 allows you to see a large black stone key, on a cord around the speakers neck, that looks like it could open the first and similar second door.

Cil puzzles over the lock a few moments before attacking it with her tools, probes and intricate saws flashing against the light as other hooks and needles were pulled from her kit and just as quickly replaced....

... after a few grinding noises and more than a few irritated noises from Cil....CLICK!

Tanira looks a bit embarressed. She was under the impression that she left the site where she was close to the spirits in the forest looking for a ritual book of some kind to thwart vile plans. The hole war going on here seems unreal to her, but she thinks she's not with the summoned monster... Though it's ultimately hard to tell.

"We... well, to be honest it's hard to say whose side we're on in all this mess. We came here looking for something and found this war going on. Now it seems there are more than two sides in all of this. But I'd appreciate it very much if we could get along without further bloodshed."

"Well we are not sure what is beyond, though he were ordered to keep back any but our forces, we are fed up with the whole situation. If we let you through will you help us out of here. Do you have a deal with the Drow, you know for safety?" The man asks, they look to be a rough group, ones who can easily handle themselves in a battle and mercenaries probably too.

The more you help the more likely the chance that you will survive getting out of this war alive and unscathed." Saronis goes on hoping his words will do the trick even though he is mostly just the straightforward type.

The trio seem to be ready to budge and at least let your group past but still seem hesitant.

She steps a little closer to the side of Saronis, but tries to avoid appearing aggressive in any way.
"My name is Tanira. I am from Khorvair, from the Eldeen Reaches to be precise. Who are you?"


They seem more easy with your words and the leader sheathes his weapon as a sign of good faith. He speaks again in a casual tone, "I am Willret Cormack, leader of the Black Shards, a mercenary group from Sharn. We came here with other mercenary groups and agents of Daask.
