Round 7
Saronis takes even more chance running back to the wagon. Tumbling three times in the distance to off set the archers some.

The sparkling green and white leaves continue to course over his wounds healing as they go. As a swift action he slides his hand over the blade of his weapon and it glows red and the glow surges into his arm before dissipating.

Lesser vigor still active and healing self with the hit just done to the white goblin last round, active mods adjusted.

As he comes around the wagon he smiles as he sees Tanira, "Thank you but there is still work to be done! Please another lesser vigor would be great." He says as he takes cover with her behind the wagon, the large arrow still in his chest.

Jake's armor deflects another close call... As Saronis gets hit with a black arrow the length of his arm. Impaling his chest some as it penetrates his armor, 14 damage.

Same perception checks from the last post, but for easy access when you make the checks here they are again! ;)

Perception DC 5:
The drow and others have been moving on the field of battle.

Perception DC 10:
Many of the drow have not been targeted by the archers above and have been retreating behind the group to the exit. A few other humanoid creatures, likely goblins, have made a dash in response to the far structure in the sheer cliff.

Perception DC 15:
A group of five Drow are waiting at the base of the stairs, taking pot shots at the goblins and humans that run as the archers above in the central structure shoot down on your group.

Perception DC 20:
The Drow below the central structure are smiling at your group, one of them waves at you. A large humanoid creature has left the cave in the sheer cliff face, it looks big even more with the large wings. An even larger form slides down the crater wall towards the sheer cliff cave.

Round 6

Cil skids to a stop as Saronis dispatches the white goblin. Holding a hand up in salute, she yelps an arrow scores a thin line of blood along her arm.

With a scowl at the archers above, she follows Saronis' example and dodges and weaves her way back to the wagon.

Round 7

Sliding around the corner of the wagon, Cil leans her back and takes a fe deep breaths looking about the battlefield.

Cil waves back at the Drow below the central structure, then her eyes widen as she points out the large creatures near the cave and on the crater wall. "I hope those are on own side." she deadpans

The effects of multiple lesser vigor spells do not stack.

Tanira glances over to the entrance. "I think they are..." she returns to Cil. She sees her wounded comrades coming around again, takes her crossbow into the left, tears out her wand of cure light wounds from her garter activates it hastily and casts on Saronis. Some of his worst wounds close for a bit.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Slowly she starts to wonder whether there will be enough charges in the wand for the entire fight.


Round 7
Map is updated, Jake you are now in that location in the open.
Quantos your options are to take cover with the group or help cover Jake. Or surprise me!

Tanira, Cil, Saronis and others if they get 20 or higher on perception.:
The winged humanoid seems to be slaughtering the fleeing humans and goblinoids, then it jumps upon a few hiding drow tearing their flesh just as easily and the thing laughs with pleasure.

Cil you know that the large humanoid coming down is Aukon, the giant. The giant is Huge! Once he gets to the bottom of the crater he draws his massive blade and seems to ready himself.

Everyone can hear the thuds of arrows as the ones above keep up the volley, then a horrible cackling laughter permeates the crater and the arrows stop.

Will save DC 18 or be panicked to cower for 1d8+3 rounds.

He drops his blade and drops to the ground on his side, as the massive black arrow still is in his chest, covering his head with his arms.

Round 12, he will be better from the fear and his wounds will be moderately healed. Ready for another lesser vigor. As the white and green leaves of the lessor vigor will dissipate on the end of the 12th round.

"Now is the time, we need to go!" She already wants to storm ahead as she notices the monsterous, giant humanoid whatever has severly shaken Saronis. She puts her healing wand away and then touches his cheek: "Saronis, we need to get out of here into the cover of the temple. Trust me!"

Still holding her crossbow in the other tries to drag him up to his feet.

Round 8 continued

Saronis looks up and gladly follows her hand to look at that lovely face. He doesn't know why but the fear shakes from him. "Go! I will follow close behind. Just in case I want to get at least one of the tower shields."

Round 9

He quickly grabs up his weapon, knowing to call it costs him his own energy. He goes around the wagon and easily spots the tower shield that he had claimed.

Round 10

Stooping down to pick up the tower shield he keeps his blade of power in his right hand still, he keeps up the pace to follow the group.

Possible use of another round here:
If anyone is panicked like he was he will grab at them instead and carry if needed leaving the tower shield behind. Taking another round here to make sure their weapon in hand is sheathed before carrying them.

Round 11

He quickly charges forward at a run to catch up to the group and to arrive at the base of the structure where the Drow are waiting.


Round 8
Trying to keep things moving, to get to the next encounter faster... if there is any slight adjustments of any sort please post such actions.

Cil is able to keep the wits about her and quickly takes the lead moving quickly towards the central structure, the temple.

The large winged demon on the far side of the crater continues on its rampage.

Quantos has utterly stopped in the face of fear hearing the massive cackling from the unseen creature on the far side of the crater and the screams coming from its victims.

"Spirits! Let's get into cover now while they don't shoot." Tanira looks to Cil and Zharon. Even she manages to stay relatively calm the scream of the strange winged beast instils fear on her.

Tanira gets out of cover holding her crossbow in one hand. She tries to get to Quantos before he can flee in the panick she sees in his face.

sorry for lack of posting, i went to sleep, didnt check before going to work, then worked all day and just got off work

Quantos, frozen in fear, retreats within his mind. He sees what is transpiring, but the sounds are muted, as if far away. The handle of his blade is warm in his white-knuckled grip. He attempts to draw strength from Dol Arrah, fearing that his legs will move no other way.

I've been on this battlefield before. Will I die a third time?

"GO TANIRA!!! I will get him! Go while you still can the Mistress is coming!" Saronis yells with all urgency as he goes to Quantos, flinging the magus over his shoulder with his immense strength.

Quantos:
You can hear Saronis weeping or something like it, he keeps repeating one phrase, "We are too late, heaven save us."


A creeping dread of death, corruption, and sickness descends upon the crater. It is like a miasma that is invisible. The demon exalts in it as it drinks the blood of its newest victim.

Now on those not affected by fear, a more urgent threat of agonizing death comes upon you as if someone has clutched your heart. Then you feel 'Her' breath on your skin, even the skin that is covered. Goosebumps grow as all your hair on your body stands at attention, adrenaline shoots through your system as your fight or flight system tells you to RUN!!!.

The arrow still in Saronis' chest crumbles away as if it rotted away with time.

Cil and Saronis:
What Saronis just yelled is truth, she has come and you don't know why. You know that your allies must be hidden from her. Tanira, Jake and Quantos for sure as you know them to be more beacons of hope and goodness than those who have been around you before.

Jake and Quantos:

Tanira still has no clue what that creature is that's haunting this place, but it seems the ritual at the rooftop succeeded. Seeing how Saronis takes care of Quantos Tanira runs with Cil for cover in the entrance. "Follow me!" She yells to her trusty red fox, Zharon sending him a sense of urgency through their empathic connection.


In a few rounds the entire party converges on the entrance to the 'temple' central structure.

They can see the huge giant barrel down upon the demonic winged creature. His sword out and slicing through one wing and then they begin trading massive blows.

One of the Drow begins to speak in Elven.

Elven:
"I hope you are here to help us, strange chanting and sounds have been coming from above. Tell us what news you have!"

Well the battle is going rather well for your side. Our group was able to dispatch a full group of goblin and an other group of goblin, gnolls and bugbear. Now that we have made it to this structure we are going to enter it and finish of those inside

She takes a brief look around through the members of their group, and start unintentionally in elven: "Is every..." She shakes her head, making her long brown hair sway around her and restarts in common: "Is everyone alright?" She makes sure Zharon is still by her side and sends him emotions of comfort, now that they have reached a moment of relative safety.

It takes her two heartbeats bring herself to talk the drow, which she still doesn't particularly trust. But she does have to admit there is a strange attraction in their dark skin.

Elven:
"I don't know what it is, but something has been unleashed. Is there still chanting up there? I've seen a creature, gigantic in size, yet humanoid, clad with wing and carries sword at least twice my height. It didn't seem waste much time distinguishing between friend and foe - I suspect the ritual up there worked, but what they unleashed doesn't necessarily side with our enemies. It kills goblinoids and drow alike for all I can tell. Those terrible sounds you heard is its singing voice. So I am not sure whether the sides in this battle still remain the same. I am Tanira, by the way."

She leans her back to the wall to take a breath, slides down at it and pets Zharon. In common she continues.

"Saronis, do you know what it is? You called it 'Mistress'? Well, I know the dragons rarely interfere in the affair of mortals, but now would be a really good time."

She leans forward at the wall and touches the dragon mark between her shoulder. "I don't think it can be fought directly, so our best chance still be getting to the ritual site and see if it can be banished. With the recent development I am not sure whether our previous enemies are all still our enemies; that thing out there seems worse. They stopped shooting anyway."

She unloads her crossbow, hangs it back over her shoulder and gets the healing wand from garter. "So, who needs healing?" She repeats the question in elven and looks around.

Quantos can use some healing, and by the way, GM, how is he doing? out of his stupor?

Quantos, you could ask for healing or describe your wounds so that the healer can understand what she sees. Did you roll your 1d8+3 rounds of fear?

The Drow nod their heads and grab their panicked brethren. They begin to run back the way your group came yelling something in Elven.

Elven:
"Retreat! Retreat! Back to the Forest!"

He takes to the stairs leaving Quantos still rigid in fear on the steps with the group. Up to the top of the stairs listening and looking for any signs of threat then of advantages that are to be had.

Coming back down the stairs he bids the group to follow with a wave from his hand. "I don't see any threats yet, we should be able to recover at the top for a few minutes."

Once the last lesser vigor finishes he looks to Tanira and calmly asks, "Will you please heal me some more. The spell has worn off."


At the top of the stairs:
The bodies are piles along the path, mostly goblins and apes with other animals and a few drow bodies along the way. Pieces of those bodies are mangled and apart from the whole depicting a sea of blood and violence along the way. Weapons and gear lay in disarray as much as the bodies. The hallway is 15 feet wide but has half walls every 30 feet or so that block straight walking.

Either way can be traveled to the right or to the left. The same scene can easily be seen both ways.

First two who gain this perception check are awarded seeing items. A faintly glowing greatsword which blazes as a torch once in your hand. A wand of cure moderate wounds (CL5) 2 charges. (The items are not identified yet)

Please describe how you take the item from the creature and include any additional gear worth less than 100 gp.

Along the hallway... Perception DC 23:
First two who gain this perception check are awarded seeing items. A potion bandolier on a hobgoblin, there is 3 cure light potions (CL1), a mage armor (CL2), and
2 bull str (CL3). A Clamor Box, This delicate tin music box seems out of place. (The items are not identified yet)

Please describe how you take the item from the creature and include any additional gear worth less than 100 gp.

Top of the stairs is clear, lots of bodies mostly goblin and ape. There looks to be some gear lying around. I am going to carefully have a look around. he says casting a detect Magic

Stealth: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15 as he moves up the stairs. He will use the cover of the wall to make sure the hallways are empty before allowing his sight to pick up possible magic items

As a few magical stuff seems to register Jake wui quietly and carefully try to remove them in order to bring them back

he will first with the potion bandoleer, then the wand, then the great sword and last the small box. He will wrap that last object in a cloak (and put everything expect the sword into his bag of holding

She heals Quantos and Jake from her wand of cure light wounds and Saronis from the Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds.

Cil finds it difficult to tear her gaze away from the scene of the demon and giant fighting in the crater, only moving when she realizes the other had moved in without her.

"Thank you Tanira, actually I don't need one of the lesser vigor's that last spell has me fit!" He enthusiastically whispers to her. He then grabs his waterskin and takes a quick drink from it as he has a moment.

Continuing to whisper, "Cil would you take point and see if any traps await us, I think we should stick together. The aura of the Lady of Plagues is upon us but it must just mean that she is close or something. The sooner we finish here we can get to what is going on here."

Now in near darkness, Saronis touches his headband and a globe of light comes to life above his shoulder, it shines like a torch.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6


All fear effects are now over as the group collects around Tanira to get healing. Then once everyone is ready to move forward as a group you continue down the left side.

Cil:
As the group moves along you see a sparkling object. A shine from something metallic from Saronis' light. A pendent in the shape of a shield was on a goblins leather jerkin but only a bit of it showed under its cloak.

Soon the group comes to the end of the hallway. You can see a niche on the inner wall which holds a sculpture of a dragon carved from red-veined white marble. Only two bodies lie within 10 feet of the end of the hallway, a goblin pinned to the wall by multiple arrows and a green canine of some sort that looks to be barely moving with its slow shallow rasps of breath.

Perception DC 15:
On the end of the hallway there are several images of moons and stars.

Perception DC 20:
Also there is a hidden door here.

Once someone walks within 5 feet of the dragon sculpture.:

The sculpture speaks in Elven, "We come at night without being fetched; we disappear by day without being stolen."

K Planes DC 10, Geography DC 5:
The few etched symbols on the door seem to be the different cycle of the moon. Full moon, 3/4 moon, half moon, 1/4 moon, and new moon.

As Cil moves forward she leans down over a fallen goblin, taking a shiny pendant from around its neck. Absentmindedly placing the bauble in her pouch, she continues forward.

As she notices the wounded canine creature, she steps swiftly to it. She doesn't really know whether it is friend or foe but she won't just let it die. "Hold on, don't be afraid." She makes a few soothing gestures in case it doesn't understand common.

She tries her best to tend its wounds and stop the bleeding.
Heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Over the shoulder she mentions: "Yes, 'Stars' would indeed be the answer to that riddle. And I think the symbols I saw on passing by represent moon phases new, waxing, full and waning moon. Do you know which dragon that is supposed to be? If it's all about stars it might be Siberys, but I am not sure whether He is typically depicted in red..."

To the creature she asks: "With who are you? What happened here?" She's not entirely sure whether it's even conscious, though.


As Jake says the word in Elven the door where the depiction of the moons is, opens into the hallway revealing a hidden room. No light is within the room.

The beast continues to breath with troubles, but as she stabalizes it, it licks her hand. Tanira do you have speak with animals as a spell at will, or just hoping it is sentient?

The room beyond:
It seems to be and extension of the hallway only 20 feet at most. Four large statues of dragons are in the room, one for each corner. Each dragon holds a crystal or glass orb. At the far end of the room is a statue of an elf holding a longsword up to the ceiling and a shield with a sun depicted upon it. A pool of water dominates the center of the room, leaving only 3 feet to walk around it.

Perception DC 15, The hidden room:
The shield seems to have some writing on it in Elven, "Only my ancestors and kin will have access to my legacy, to the honor of the Elven race may my wealth be used for the betterment of them all." The pool of water has a 4 inch hole in the center of it.

Perception DC 18, The hidden room:
There appears to be a ring upon the hand holding the sword, the pinky which does not touch the sword at all.

Perception DC 20, The hidden room:
On the two walls there seems to be more hidden compartments, similar to the door to get into the room. A cube seems to float above the head of the statue, it is 4 inches thick.

Perception DC 25, The hidden room:
The four orbs seem to flicker with some energy every now and again.

I tap the orb of light above me and point to the room. The light moves 10 feet away from me into the room to shed light on the dark room. I stand to the right of the door allowing others to go into the room, since I see no threats as I watch our backs.

Cil allows Saronis to light the room , then enters quietly, scanning the floor and walls for tell-tales of traps...

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Cil crouches a bit into the room, gazing about, then seeing no danger moves futher in , reading the text on the shield and noting the pool of water.

Head cocked to one side she points at the ring on the statues' finger and then the cube floating above its head.

Silently, she turns noting every detail and says quietly "Two more hidden doors...there...and there" she says pointing.

I misunderstood, I thought it was some kind of humanoid / canine creature and thus sentiened. If I had simply taken it for a dog, I might have simply given it a coup de grâce

"Sounds like more riddles to me. Do the four moon phases we saw depicted on the inscription somehow relate to those orbs?" She whispers the elven words "Bring me the starlight" and touches her dagger with a complex gesture as she casts a light spell. Slowly she steps into the room, mumbling a "follow me" to Zharon, who keeps slipping around her ankles.

When she notices the inscription on the shield she reads and translates it. After a moment of thought she adds: "I do belong to an old blood line - I am... well, half recognized, half bastard, an official bastard if you will, of house Lyrandar, but it has been a half-elven one for countless generations, while I must have elven ancestors at some point I can't trace my lineage back to them."

"Did you notice the ring on the finger of the statue? Somehow there must be a mechanism to open all those little compartments here. I am curious what is behind all this... Zharon watch out for me, I am gonna try something" She approaches one of the orbs held by a dragon and touches it carefully with the tip of her middle finger.

While holding the glowing dagger she speaks in elven "Streams of arcane, illuminate!" (Detect Magic) and makes a gesture like centering something on her eyes with the other.

Quantos:
Not much more with the moons, the stars initially seem to be merely aesthetics until you think they make up an astrology sign one that would indicate best with new moons.

Just a canine creature Tanira.

The green canine creature is conscious but does not seem to move much at all.

Tanira nothing happens when you touch the orb.

Detect Magic:
The four statues and the orbs emit magic along with the floor, the cube, and the ring on the statue.
