Nadya Tsura |

Nadya smiles at Paehz, keeping it less brilliant than the one she flashed Gilbere, just in case Priyya was correct. "Thanks for taking care of our things so well, Paehz! And for the safe trip! Not even a glimpse of a highwayman!"

Ameiko barks a laugh at Kord's introduction, "Thank you for the introduction, but Paezh's ugly face has darkened my tap-room before. The wagon's probably fine where it is," she turns to regard the sherrif, "but maybe you could have one of your men find a secure place for it?" As the sherrif nods and wanders off to find someone, she turns back to regard Kord, "Not that its my business, but who's the delivery for? I mean, everyone's here at the festival… not much chance to actually make the delivery today."

To Gilbere as he sits to eat, "Let me help you with that headache!"
She looks at the dwarf for permission, then moves gracefully behind him. She massages his shoulders lightly, trying to ease the ache from many days of sleep. While she rubs, she sings softly,
"Release your cares, let them float away
Soon your pains will be memories
Watch the clouds, hear the children at play
Fill your belly, put your mind at ease.
Your pain is all gone
Your mind is your own
Now have a good time
With nary a groan."

Anneke |

Eying the epically tall arian woman with a wince rubbing his left butt cheek.
"If makes feel gooder, Anneke thought Gill Beer dead, but Priyya say dead dwarfs not snore."
She extends her hand to the dwarf to clasp his forearm in greeting. "When you wake up, we talk more, ya?"

Priyya |

"This," Ameiko sweeps her hand across the square, "is the Sandpoint Swallowtail Festival. In true Varisian style, Sandpoint traditionally celebrates the blessings of Desna with a festival on the first day of every Autumn.
Priyya smiles, "I am newly arrived in Varisia and do not know your ways. Is Lady Desna the patron Deity of Sandpoint or are other Gods honored as well? If my presence here would be disruptive..." She motions that she could leave town if necessary.

"Thank ye fer checking." he says taking her greeting and returning it heartily. Feeling better from Nadya's 'magic massage'. "Ye have something fer me to see at some point, aye?" hinting about the object.

Ameiko dismisses that notion, "Of course you should stay and enjoy yourself. The people of Sandpiont, like any town, pay homage to many gods. Desna just holds a special place to Varisians."
"Nice to see you too, Ameiko. I see your cooking has improved - it didn't kill Gilbere, after all."
"AH! Keep it up, bucko, and you'll be stuck with that drivel from the Hagfish!"

Paehz wrote:"Nice to see you too, Ameiko. I see your cooking has improved - it didn't kill Gilbere, after all.""Almost kill me..." Anneke mutters under her breath.
Priyya looks at Anneke with feigned outrage, and punches her in the arm "You big sissy! Mother's milk is hotter than that. One of these days I'll make you a Vindaloo curry - then you will know HOT."
Oh thinks Priyya I'm really liking these people.

Nadya Tsura |

Nadya wanders around the courtyard, looking for her uncle. A boisterous man waves her over & asks her to dance for his table. After coming to agreement on price, Nadya curtsies and moves to an open spot. Her bell-silencing cloths have long been tied to her belt so that they flow downwards -- and will increase the amount of swing in her turns. The bells on her belt & bracelets will add to the rhythm. Nadya summons finger cymbals and begins to dance.
She starts slowly, her hips moving in the fashion of a belly dancer, arms undulating around her head & body, finger cymbals ka-shinging as they keep the beat. As her dance continues, the beat picks up, her feet moving faster and faster as she twirls around. Her skirts begin to billow, the scarves flowing straight out, snapping in the breeze she creates. By the end of the dance, you can barely make out individual body parts, everything is whirling so quickly. You see a hand, then a foot, a cymbal, a scarf, but all of it together is a fascinating combination of color, blurring together in a mesmerizing blending work of art. Anyone in view stops to watch the hynotic display.
Nadya finishes the dance by dropping into a curtsy so low she is almost sitting on the ground. The crowd erupts into cheers. She smiles almost shyly, soaking in the moment and enjoying the feeling of exhaustion and exhilaration. Finally she breaks her pose, lithely rising and returning to her customer. "Was that what you had in mind?"
As she takes the coins and turns to leave, she tucks them into her money pouch, secure that she's left another group happier than they were before she stopped by.

Tale-Spinner Eben |

As Nadya finishes her dance, the applause is cut short by a burst of music from across the square, as zithers, lutes, cymbals, and a handful of other Varisian instruments compete in a crescendo of lively music. Father Zantus, the religious authority and steward of the newly finished cathedral, steps into view followed by a handful of acolytes, all in color festive robes. The crowd erupts as they step in, and the shouts follow them as they gather in the center of the square.
Together the group begins a short parable of how Desna first fell to earth and was nursed back to health by a blind child who she transformed into an immortal butterfly as a reward for her aid. And, as they begin to wind down the story, two more acolytes wheel in a large covered wagon with a pristine white canvased top. As the parable ends with a final description of the beautiful immortal butterfly, the cloth top is thrown aside and a staggering wave of wondrous colors burst from the enclosure. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of butterflies, from the size of a coin to the size of a man's hand, all the colors splashing together, are carried up, over, and through the crowd by the cheering of the people of Sandpoint. Even the most stoic of you are compelled to join in the clapping and shouting.
For the rest of the afternoon, the songs, dances, contests and revelry are joined by the ever-present flitting of colorful butterflies dancing through the crowd. Everywhere you look, children chase them futilely, never quite quick enough to actually catch one in hand.
A sharp retort, like the crack of distant thunder, slices through the excited crowd as the sun’s setting rays paint the western sky. A stray dog that has crawled under a nearby wagon to sleep starts awake, and the buzz of two dozen conversations quickly hushes as all heads turn toward the central podium, where a beaming Father Zantus has taken the stage. He clears his throat, takes a breath to speak, and suddenly a woman’s scream slices through the air. A few moments later, another scream rises, then another. Beyond them, a sudden surge of strange new voices rises—high-pitched, tittering shrieks that sound not quite human.
The crowd parts and something low to the ground races by, giggling with disturbing glee as the stray dog gives a pained yelp and then collapses with a gurgle, its throat cut open from ear to ear. As blood pools around its head, the raucous sound of a strange song begins, chanted from shrill, scratchy voices.
Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblins cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!
Goblins race and goblins jump.
Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!
Chase the baby, catch the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,
We be goblins! You be food!
and you get to act in the surprise round. Roll Initiative!
If you didn't make the perception, you're surprised…Roll Initiative

Here's the setup
The Cathedral square is a big square A-Y across the top, 1-25 down the side. There are three tables. one is C-D/13-20, one in F-L/22-23, and one in O-U/22-23. There is also a wagon at F-G/3-5, with the wagon hitch extending into F-6, making it difficult terrain. The cathedral is at X-Y/2-23, and extends off the map to the right, with the large entrance doors at X 11-14.
As the screams split the air, the crowd dissolves in a panic, and the square quickly dissolves into chaos. Goblins burst from around a number of corners, some with torches, some with their crooked little dog-slicers, all screaming, laughing, and singing their horrible little song as they chase about the unprepared humans.
Just as you're deciding what to do, two goblins hop up onto a table near you D13 and C14, one screaming with glee and waving his dogslicer as the other begins wholesale scooping food into his tiny pockets.
Everyone place themselves around the lower-right table. And can someone post an initiative chart for me?

You dah woman, Anneke! This PC is Excel-less - meaning I can see internet based excel files but cannot create one. Edit: Eben - the nice thing about Anneke's little excel magic trick is we can update where the characters are ourselves, you just say 'Nadya is at N6' - we each hold our own copy and update it.

Gilbere normally quite un-dwarflike in his demeanor, hops to his feet at the site of one of his peoples racial enemies! Planting his feet firmly on the ground holding forth his amber topped staff, cold hatred fills his face as he chants softly.
Completing his spell he then begins moving his arms in a beckoning almost seductive posture towards the nearest goblin.

These are 5 foot squares, assume that is the case in any combat grid - I will say otherwise if such is not the case.
EDIT - those positions are fine.. which P is Paezh and which is Priyya?
Much thanks for the map, Anneke.. that's just the ticket
