Malusha is just about to point out the hiding creature when it bellows and speaks to the group. Malusha shudders a little at the commanding voice but gathers his wits enough to flip out his well used wand of bless. He activates it at a blessing covers the allies. "Be strong, and courageous, my friends. We can overcome this beast."

As soon as he is done casting the spell, Malusha moves towards a large boulder to put it between him and the monster. Along the way he unslings his crossbow.

Umbrato will delay.

The Pathfinders make their preparations for combat. The behir moves down the escarpment, expertly climbing with its claws, and right up to Malusha, looming over the man. Its long limbs look able to reach out across a wide swath of land in front of it.

"You will die here little thing!"

Seeing the enemies arrayed before him, the behir's pride falters at his protecting his domain and decides that it is not worth the bodily harm that could come to him, so he turns and flees from the party, lumbering up the escarpment and into the rocks beyond.

"This is not over little creatures! Not over!" he bellows as he runs away.

Out of Combat!

The trail descends among many red sandstone arches and hoodoos as the afternoon sun heats the rock formations to baking temperatures. Periodically, you find signs of Kafar and Nefti’s passage, such as a discarded bottle, footprint, or shred of cloth. As the afternoon heat abates, you begin ascending taller peaks.

You think now might be the best time to rest if you need to do so, but that will mean Kafar and Nefti draw further away from you.

Do you rest or keep going? I will treat the first three votes as a consensus.

Looks like everyone's good with keeping on. Onward we go.

You decide to press on and after hours of hiking, the scarps on the sides of the canyon gradually descend until the whole of the terrain becomes a gradual slope encircled by distant mountains and deep chasms. Night has come to the desert, and with it a cold wind. The open valley, however, offers an unobstructed view of the region, and you spot a campsite on a mountain nearby. The light of a campfire is clearly visible to the party just a few miles away. The signal soon disappears, but it is enough to confirm that you are on the right path. When you reach the campsite over an hour later, you find a recently extinguished fire, bloodied bandages, and fresh tracks.

You note that on the bandages you find thin glassy worms that've been caught in the gauze.

Knowledge (dungeoneering) DC 20:

These are larvae that are transmitted by an akata's bite. It seems either Kafar or Nefti has been infected with void death disease.

Phoebee starts to yawn too if but only to induce more yawning in the group. what is the nap stack? she asks with a yawn and stretching of her arms.

Resting won't actually acclimate yourselves to the altitude, which would take a month living atop the mountain pass, so I assume you'll be continuing on. If you have a way to magically negate the fatigued condition while traversing the high pass, let me know. If four or more of you are not fatigued during your travel through the high altitude zone, then it will determine where Kafar and Nefti start.

You make your way down the trail down the mountain, returning to a low pass altitude zone and feeling the fatigue lessen from you. The narrow and sinuous path down the mountain limits visibility, so you only spot your quarry just as the Pathfinders reach the end of the trail. The path is twisting, with severe winds, airborne sand, and other dangers. You now have to hurry, as the thieves are moments away from the doors to the Sanctum! Let the chase begin!

Mythic point free action clear the path.

Because we're mythic, I think we don't have the -2 speed penalty. Can you confirm? This will help me decide if I want to do a full-round for three cards move or not.

It doesn't say anything in the scenario about negating the speed penalty, but you can use mythic power to circumvent this with the implacable pursuer use of the mythic power. Remember, you can only use one use of mythic power per round.

Malusha realizes that the two they are chasing are close to getting away. With a mental surge he accesses his new found mythic powers to increase his speed. Then, with a keen eye of perception and instant reflexes he moves towards them.

Using 1 MP for Implacable Pursuer then going for 3 cards.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Pass one, fail one by less than 5. I think that means I move 1 card.

As Dart points out the foes, Umbrato moves to pursue. Finding himself on the steep slope to the valley below, the small man's feet slip on the chaw rock and he suddenly looses his balance.

Since Dart "Cleared the Path", can we move to the second tile as a move action?

Was going to try to clear the path for acrobatics...but a Nat 1 seemed to be necessary. :-/

Acrobatics, speed Penalty: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 11 - 2 = 10
Grrr

@Umbrato: Yes, clearing the path means all obstacles are cleared from that card, so you can use a move action to get through without a check.

The nimble grippli moves through the high ground with ease, explaining the thieves' positions with ruby-sage-powered enhanced vision, and the others follow.

Everyone: if you need to retcon your action due to the cleared obstacles on card 1, please do so. Remember, you'd still need a full round action to clear 3 cards.

Bold may act.

Dart/Phoebee: No, due to wind and the canyons you need to be on their card to see them.
