An eight-hour rest resets surges as well, correct?

If you took an eight hour rest, you would be much, much further behind them in the chase. If you used the recuperation mythic power, it does not reset surges, only class features.

The Pathfinders continue their chase with Dart in the lead hot on the heels of Kafar and Nefti. Meanwhile, the Aspis agents continue to make headway, helping each other along the cliff's edge. They immediately start to ready traps to hang up the Pathfinders.

Using an MP for Against All Odds to move one square.

Malusha scrambles up the steep slope at an impossible speed. At the top he looks back down in amazement and scratches his head. "How did I do that?" But he doesn't spend long pondering the feat and he moves quickly to the narrow pass.

Now can I use my standard action to do another check? I think so, so I'll try it.

Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

The narrow pass is quite narrow and Malusha races through it as quickly as he can. The loose stones underfoot threaten to make him fall into the side wall and in fact he does stumble and fall to the ground.

Dart has a 5ft step he wants to use, once he sees if the bearded man is still standing. If he goes down the 5ft is marked on the map.

Ah, gotcha. I forgot about that part of the ability. Just be sure to remember which spells you've cast with MP and which you haven't. Yes, by my count you've used six MP so far through the battle with the Behir, the chase, and now with Kafar and Nefti. So 3 left.

Dart follows up his charge attack with two devastating punches, the first to Kafar's midsection--Dart feeling a rib or two crack--and then the second to Kafar's head, cracking the man's skull. Blood dribbles out of Kafar's mouth as his eyes roll back into his head and he crumples to the ground. "No!" Nefti drops his weapon and rushes over to him, placing a hand on his neck. Then he glares at the grippli, tears starting to stream down his face, little rivers amidst the sand-bitten skin. "You killed him! You animal! How could you just attack and kill him like that, defenseless?! I didn't believe the rumors but they're true! The Pathfinders are just killers and brutes out for whatever they can get their hands on!" He starts to sob, putting a hand to Kafar's cheek. "Oh Kafar, look what they've done to you. I'll be joining you soon enough I think."

Nefti continues to cry, rocking back and forth to the beat of the desert winds.

Sometimes we all work in situations that we don't understand and that we only have part of the information. Maybe if we sat down and talked we might be able to get along better to understand what is going on

"Gems?" Nefti says. "We already sold those off." He raises his hands and then slowly digs through his pack, producing two terms of sale and a letter of credit worth 6,000 gp, all three documents signed by some buyer named Angvar Branmaz.

Knowledge (local) DC 20:

You recognize this name. It's an alias of Grandmaster Torch.

Linguistics DC 20:

You note that one of the terms of sale--the one matching the value on the letter of credit--is genuine, but the other is an underpriced forgery. It seems Kafar and Nefti were seeking to pocket the payment difference by giving the counterfeit document to the Aspis Consortium and delivering only part of the gold.

While he talks, Nefti scratches at his bandages.

Heal DC 20:

Nefti and Kafar have both contracted void death disease from the akata's bite in the temple.

Nefti still seems on edge around the Pathfinders, even though Phoebee's words are soothing.

Malusha takes the papers and examines them. "I recognize this name. This is Grandmaster Torch." He looks back to Nefti. "Where did you make this sale? And when?"

It doesn't look familiar to me. I am not sure that I know Master Torch. But then again I don't know Master Lantern or Master Dancing Lights either

Nefti says, Good so you know the burned man, too. Pays very well, and promptly. It was, oh, last night I think, near Eto. He was very anxious to get his hands on that emerald jewel."

Noticing Nefti is bandaged and irritated in the affected area, Bamiel's scientific curiosity kicks in. He jumps to his feet, walks over to the man, and takes a deeper look.

"Hmmmm...void death disease. You two must have been bitten by one of the lion creatures in the temple. I believe untreated this is eventually fatal, resulting in those dying of it rising as void zombies. Malusha, do you have removal of disease capabilities? I have antiplague, which would give them a better chance of their bodies to expel the contagion, but if you have spell capability that would ensure success, I am sure it would be appreciated. "

"I don't have that spell prepared for today but these new powers we have allows me to access the magic anyway." Malusha moves to the men. He places his hand on each one and speaks a few words of divine magic. A warm glow washes over each of them, purging the disease from their body.

Shaking his head, he looks to Damiel, "So, what should we do now? You don't think he stayed in Eto, do you? Surely he would seek out the temple."
