Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

Which has the teen looking around, more spooked now than when the haunt was still active.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

heh heh...cue the eerie synth.....

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

Castiel strides towards the nearest door, then hesitates before opening it, putting his hand against it to feel for heat, then his ear to listen. Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

No heat, no sounds.
Totally clear.

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

The paladin looks back at the others, nods, then opens the door with his non-sword hand, and looks around.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

It's a 10 foot by 10 foot room, a desk, filing cabinets, a couple chairs.
Papers are strewn all over the desk as if the owner stepped out in the middle of the workday to go get some coffee, or perhaps take a dump, and never came back for 25 years. There is even a tea cup there, with a stringed teabag and filled with green muck, and with something that maybe was bisquits, but is now a pile of what looks like green mummified goat's testicles.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

MAP!

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

Any other exits visible?

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Not from this room.

And....throwin ya a bone or we'll be doing this dungeon in 2015,.......door two opens up into a 10 by 20 foot office space as well, this time with two desks, and the same deal; papers on the desks, filing cabinets, totally abandoned.

No visible exits in this room either.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

I gotta crash; I'm on call tomorrow night, so I might or might not be around, and they're really trying to get their money's worth out of us at work right now for some damn reason. I keep telling them it's a state job for f&@#'s sake.....

Heh. Yeah, good luck with that Heathy! :)

Edwin peeks into the two rooms, takes a gander, nods as if in approval at something, and heads back out into the hallway.

He cautiously steps forward and examines the other 2 doors visible,...

Per: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

M Human Cleric / 6

Rholf steps into the first room, briefly scanning the papers for names, subjects, headings, etc.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

The other two doors look pretty innocuous.

The rooms are filled with the day to day paperwork of the prison.....prison files, income, supplies, scheduling, repair requests and the like.

M Human Cleric / 6

Any files on our sinister six, or perhaps a personnel file on the warden?

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

It'll take some research.

And at least 2d8 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8 hours to organize it all to the point where you could do the research.

Female Changeling (Annis Hag) Oracle of Life 6; 32/32 hp

Musing out loud, "We don't have time to read it all, but we could take some of it back to the mansion with us for perusal if you thought it looked interesting. Later trips could gain us more. If you think it will help."

M Human Cleric / 6

Rholf makes a mental note to grab as much of the record-keeping as possible on the way out, pulls the door closed behind him, and follows the others.

"A fine idea, Miss Brightfoot."

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Time check: 2:30 pm.

It'll take about 1/2 hour to load all this stuff up; you can carry it all, but it's kinda clunky walking around a dungeon with tons of paperwork.....

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

We'll leave it for now, come back at a later time. Let's ceck out the other two doors in this area.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

The bottom door is a big office. There's a long desk in the south, with two high backed visitors' chairs; in the northwest there's a small alcove with a safe. No dust, no wear and tear. It's like time totally left this room alone.
The tea and crumpets on the desk even look unspoiled.

Larissa's spirits calm to the point where she feels that they're totally gone here in this room.

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

“This must have been the warden’s office,” opines Castiel. He moves into the room and begins looking around for anything that might be interesting or useful to the current situation – a ring of keys, further files, weapons, a map of the prison ... things like that. Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

M Human Cleric / 6

Slipping into the room behind Castiel, Rholf stands just inside (not blocking the doorway, off to the side) and surveys the room as well.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

"This room is.... Inhabited."

There's a few more files; personal effects; nothing much more of use...

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

Castiel nods. “Yes, but by what? Ghosts don’t need crumpets and clean floors ... but sometimes they can get nostalgic ...”

"This room is.... Inhabited."

A whiff of potpourri.....cinammon and roses....

M Human Cleric / 6

"I wonder if Mrs. Hawkran spent much time here. She was obviously here sometimes, given what happened in the fire... I just got a very pleasant whiff of... Cinnamon and roses..."

Edwin also agrees that they should collect the papers on the way out, ("The most innocent of daily paperwork may hold the most valuable clues!") and steps into the warden's office with the rest. Upon seeing the condition of the room, he immediately takes a long, slow look around the office,...

Per: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

"My my my,... Very interesting indeed,..."

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Nothing much else of interest;....the place just feels mellow.

"It would seem that the very absence of corruption, not to mention the distinct lack of spiritual unrest, would be a major clue here." Edwin states casually.

Edwin Picks up a biscuit to examine it, sniffs it, tastes it lightly with the tip of his tongue, and replaces it back on the plate. He then carefully but quickly searches the desk for anything useful, like keys,...

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

mmmm.....nice bisquit. Imported from Cheliax.

No keys; nothing else of interest, really.

Edwin brushes teh dust from his fingertips.

"So, onto the next room then?"

Castiel shrugs. “My sense of smell is all shot to the Abyss ever since I burnt out a ghoul warren a few months back. But if you say so. I wonder if that means that Mrs Hawkran’s spirit haunts this room? She died in the fire and wasn’t supposed to be here ... it sounds a tragic enough event to leave some sort of psychic imprint, if not a fully fledged manifestation.”

Human Alchemist 1/Fighter 1

"Yum, biscuits!" Myron helps himself to one; munching contentedly, he wanders over to the safe. "Very nice... *chew*chew* Now, let's see if we can get this baby open..."

Perception 11+7=18 to check out the safe and its immediate surroundings. Disable Device 13+7=20 to open it.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Unfortunately, the safe will require a key or a higher roll....the lock is too complex.
And the key is nowhere to be seen.

Congratulations: you found the bathroom.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

map

it's a pretty rustic accomo;
a long plank of wood along the north wall, with holes every once in a while for somebody to sit on and drop the kids off at the pool.

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

No other ways off this corridor?

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

Just down the crappers; other than that, no....

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

I ain’t going that way.
Unless someone wants to further explore the long drop, Castiel leads the way back to the entry room, and cautiously tries to open the first door round, anti-clockwise, from the entry door.

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

A hall of cobbled stone, this part of the prison feels and looks more oppressive. The masonry is more basic, roughly hewn, and sombre than in the office areas......
this hall smells of stale urine.

It ends in a door, 30 feet long; door on the east there.

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

Castiel will approach the door, stop, look, and listen. [ooc]Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

You hear crazy cackling laughter.
It's not from this room though.

It's somewhere north.....

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

“Did you fellows – and ladies – hear that?” Castiel asks sharply, bringing his sword up.

"Yes. Unfortunately." Edwin replies dryly. He leans in and gives the door 'the eye'.

Per; If he's going to try and be a rogue replacement, he;d better start acting like it. And as 2nd level he gets most of the same stuff that rogues do, yes?

Per; 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

The door's locked.

The laughter is definitely from up north somewhere.....not behind the door.

Edwin purses his lips thoughtfully.

"Ah. A standard, if sturdy example. Quite common. Shouldn't difficult. Hm. Well, not TOO difficult. Give me a moment here."

As a 2nd level bard, I can detect traps (including magical) as a Rogue. Do I need to roll again for detect traps? If not, here' s my lockpick attempt;

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

I AM THE LORD OF ALL HELLFIRE!!!!!

That's cool; there's no traps.

But the door doesn't yield to your tinkerings.

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin of Iomedae (Undead Scourge) 4

“Wod? Would you like to give me a hand with this?”

Edwin looks nonplussed at his failure with the lock.

"Yes. This will apparently take a finer touch than mine. Wod?" He asks politely, stepping away from the door,...

Castiel, you were talking about the door? Or were you going to examine the source of laughter?
