Castiel of Fangwood
Castiel whirls about, slashing through the air with his sword, trying to knock the stirge that just whizzed by his head out of the sky, while defending himself against further attacks.
Fighting defensively: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
But his swing is wild, easily missing the fast moving blood-sucker.
Ok, AC is 23 until next turn.
Edwin Drood
"Oh for the luv of Osiris! As if the rats weren't bad enough!" Edwin cries as he is dive-bombed by the bat-winged stirges.
"Hah! Missed!" Edwin cries as the first one narrowly misses hitting him and flaps back upwards for another try.
"That will teach you, you magically-mutated-mosquito! Next time try, OW! Oh, oh dear. I don't feel so good. Apparently these things are as dangerous as I've heard,..." Edwin complains as he sags briefly under the blood-draining assault of the second one, who managed to latch on and is happily enjoying his Creme' D'La Detective,...
He takes a breath, makes an angry face, and holding his bow in his left hand, yanks his belt knife with his right and jabs at the pesky parasite,...
Pull weapon as a move action? attack!
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 211d4 ⇒ 3

I guess it would've helped to place the king rat.....e 11.
Myron stabs it hard, this rat the size of a brood sow; it looks hard pressed and sprays filthy rat blood all over it's wounded comrade.
Copious blood spills around its chittering incisors, but it fights on....
Larissa Brightfoot
With a small shriek, Larissa feels the creature lands on her back. The sensation of the creature's sucking her blood is almost enough to make her knees weak but after a moment she regains her composure and focuses all her attention on the bloodsucker.
Do I need to make a grapple check against the stirge before I can use my claws, or can I let it keep the grapple and attack?
dungeonmaster heathy
Rholf stabs his bloody blade out toward one of the stirges (G 12).
Attack: 1d20+2
Damage: 1d6+1Hope Conan's good! I have modest hopes that it will be.
It was pretty damn sweet.
Rholf connects; it's bloody as all get out, but it's still flapping about......

You can attack it with your claws. I don't feel that it's the same as a Gracie brother choking you out with Brazilian Judo....
dungeonmaster heathy
Alinya looks round as the stirges swoop, the rats scamper, and the battle lines dissolve into chaos. In response she unclasps her symbol from around her neck and, head bowed, begs Pharasma's blessing for her friends.
Cast bless - +1 to attack and saves vs fear for 2 minutes for all.
Right on.....the world for a while feels just a little less bleak.

Castiel of Fangwood
Castiel once again stabs at the stirge flying around near him, buoyed by Alinya’s blessing.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Crit confirm roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Rholf Kastigarr
Rholf quickly steps out of a decidedly disadvantageous spot on the battlefield (into H 12), and slashes once again at the stirge he just managed to hit seconds ago.
Attack (with bless): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 GAH!
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
"Blasted thing." he manages through clenched teeth as the stirge flits easily out of the way of his strike.

Lady Alinya Gurov
Con 11/12. HP now 14/14.
"Oh, these things are just horrid!"
Alinya takes a small step backwards from the stirge that attacked her to get room for a crossbow shot. Shift to J13.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 = 24; damage 1d8 ⇒ 3.
EDIT crit confirm: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 1 = 16; damage 1d8 ⇒ 5.
Edwin Drood
I was attacking the one that was already playing vampire on me!
Under attack by the bloodthirsty little parasite, and feeling just a little weak from the sudden blood loss, the normally nimble detective stumbles, becoming easy prey for the second stirge looking to make his acquaintance.
"Ow! Oh this is bad. Definitely bad!" The skinny detective curses as he jabs again at the creatures making a soup d'jour of his vital fluids.
Attack the first on (already wounded one) again, bonus from the Bless spell figured in,
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
But the little buggers have crawled onto his back, and he looks like a scarecrow flapping around trying to get at them.
Lady Alinya Gurov
"Yes!" Alinya exults, "I told mother crossbow practice was more important than needlework!"
"Edwin! Do something - there are two of them on you!" she calls to the detective in a tone of mild concern, as though he has perhaps failed to notice some regular mosquito that has landed on him.
Con 11/12. HP now 14/14. Bless 19 rounds remaining
Larissa Brightfoot
Larissa is already looking a little pale with her new CON of 8. "Rhol.. Father Kastigarr! I can't reach the one on my back! Can you strike it?"
Fort save from the rat bite 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
She claws at the ones hovering around overhead, trusting in someone else helping her with the one on her back.

Nigel finishes his foe stirge;
Azulzu picks up two rats and smashes them together repeatedly, to their doom.....
and Larissa has a bit of a fright when the pitbull runs over, jumps on her back,....and pulls the stirge off of her, shaking it like a squirrel to death.
Edwin Drood
Edwin blinks, slowly. His mouth opens, and for a moment, no sound comes out.
"Be a sport, and swat this for me, would you? There's a good fellow,..." Edwin mutters woozily.
He makes another feeble attempt to stick at least one of the bloodsuckers on him,...
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Taken 4 Con Dmg so far, down to a Con of 8,... ;P
EDIT: Actually, I think he may be right, make that 5 dmg, so 7 Con left,... EEEK! I'd forgotten how nasty these lil buggers are! :O
