Then you hear something moving through the....like, slogging through the marsh, it's from the direction your headed. It's off the road, to the left........
"I wonder if that's the lion? They're supposed to be stealthy hunters, but my uncle's lion was kept in a cage so I never had the chance to observe it stalking anything. I think it's best if we stick to the road and make for the village for now - unless anyone has any undeclared wilderness tramping skills?"

"SHall we?" He asks LArissa with a smile, gesturing to the road ahead.
"I won't argue with that plan," Alinya says, looking down at the mud in slight dismay. "I really didn't bring the right shoes for the task at hand."
Alinya clutches her amulet, half-expecting an imminent attack from the mists.
Rholf casually slips one hand through his shield straps as his other hand deftly unslings his magical warhammer, hefting its weight assuredly.
Remaining aware of the noise, Rholf does not focus his full attention on it, choosing to act as more of a rear guard for the group, to hopefully alert the companions to any sort of ambush or surprise attack.
Perception:
Two bugbears emerge from the mist.
Initiative......
They carry shields, and stout spears, and start to menace the party.
Their hair is tinted green from the bogs......

They attack.
Throw spears.
One hits Castiel; he takes 10 in damage.
The other hurls at Larissa; but he steps in a hole and messes up his throw really bad.
Then, those two advance, drawing battleaxe, and a morningstar.
4 more come out of the mist with spears.....
"Lovely." Murmurs Edwin.
He reaches into his coat, and pulls out a small, lumpy bag. He peers at the first two bugbears to appear, judges the distance, checks the wind, hauls back, and lets it fly,...
That one jumps over the bag, rather gingerly for an 8 foot tall hairy bastich.

Castiel heals himself for points even as he is drawing his sword and attacking the bugbear.
"Alinya, I think you had better move back."
Swinging her quarterstaff around in a defensive stance, Larissa whips the end of it toward the goblinoid's temple.
Rholf moves up , hefting his shield, then swings at one of the ugly buggars ganging up on Castiel.

Alinya steps back, following Larissa's suggestion, but careful to stay close to the group. She holds her blessed amulet and raises her hands in gestures fraught with arcane significance. "Pharasma bind your eyes."

Grimacing at the miss, Rholf swiftly dismisses the failure, reaches over and quickly touches Castiel's shoulder.
It's all good; the bugbear is able to deflect with his shield this time.
At least he's seriously wounded,.....
Larissa gasps from the pain of her wound, but her eyes remain focused on the one that she struck. Stepping back , she casts a spell, causing a ghostly scimitar to appear and strike her attacker.
