Edwin Drood |
Edwin nods in emphatic agreement with Rholf, remembering the critters that first appeared to thwart their entrance to the Prison.
"Yes, a most wise precaution. We have also discovered the wisdom of having spells or devices on hand to counteract possible outside influences upon our actions." He points out, tactfully. IE= Prot vs Evil :)
"Also, light sources that do not involve open flame. There are times when being able to swiftly cover light sources without the tell-tale odor of pitch or smoke is as important as strength of arms. Alchemist glow rods are acceptable, but I prefer the mystic version. No chemical odor."

Rholf, smiling wryly, says "Apparently, I'll need to purchase a hat or hood."
Larissa Brightfoot |
"Larissa, I know it's exciting to just run off into the countryside in search of clues. But we don't know what dangers we might face, and we can't assume that we can just continue to bull our way through problems. We have a chance to get properly prepared, and we should take it."
Alinya realises that being grumpy with Larissa probably isn't going to be the most productive approach. She makes an effort to sound reasonable and helpful.
No worries Larissa, just seems a shame to run off into the next scrap without taking the opportunity to get tooled up. Here are some things that any of us might find useful, in our price range:
cloak of resistance +1, 1000gp
+1 armor, 1000gp
ring of protection +1, 1000gp
+1 weapon, 2000gp
amulet of natural armor +1, 2000gp
bag of holding type 1, 2500gp
+2 to one stat, 4000gp
Larissa can't help but pout a bit as the young woman reads her mind. "I knew that."
Magicking up armor or weapon presupposes masterwork, of course. Larissa would be more interested in the ring or cloak. We do have a healthy stash of healing items that Larissa is carrying, too. Larissa is OK with letting someone else get better weaponry or armor if contributing her share will help (she does have two magic daggers, after all).
Lady Alinya Gurov |
Alinya relaxes a bit as the others in the group seem to take her seriously - you realise that she was not at all sure of her reception.
"I think all of us would benefit from better protection. In addition, I myself will investigate the libraries of the sages of Lepistadt, and see what divinations there are that may help us; divinations and spells of a more... combative nature."
Alinya proposes sending to the local mages guild for a mass order of common defensive items, and paying for it from the professor's bequest, collectively.
I think all of us could handily use a cloak of resistance +1 and a ring of protection +1 and still have plenty left over for more 'fun' stuff.
Lady Alinya Gurov |
Oops, so not 7000 each then. My bad! Everyone get immediately less excited, in proportion. For some reason in my head 1pp = 100gp. I blame dragonlance.
Alinya's brain finally catches up with something that Edwin said several minutes before?
"A flesh golem? How fascinating! Does that mean we should be searching for its creator?"
Edwin Drood |
"IN-deed. Quite astute." Edwin replies with a self-satisfied smirk.
"For, to my not-inconsiderable knowledge, while there might be a variety of undead creatures that can supposedly self-manifest, (according to some tales at least), I have never heard of a flesh golem that spontaneously generated!"
"Sadly, again, we shall have to bear the brunt of that investigation ourselves. For the creature seems unable, or perhaps unwilling, to provide any answers."
Rholf Kastigarr |
"It's certainly interesting, and it may become necessary to track down his maker as things progress, though I fail to its significance at this juncture, especially when we're so short on time."
FYI, folks, this week is going to redefine busy. I might not be around much at all, though I will try to keep up. That being said, feel free to NPC Rholf, or Pixie Rogue could take up my slack. Cheers!
Edwin Drood |
"Indeed." IS all that Edwin says. With that particularly annoying little smirk of his. Like he knows something that you don't. But should.
SOrry myself, RL derailed me again. Will try to get all caught up. Again. Still need to update Ed and at least 2 other PbP PC's, including levels and purchases! ;P
Larissa Brightfoot |
"This cloak you mention - it can help a person avoid the effects of the dead creatures we have faced? And possibly magic?"
One request for for a Cloak of Resistance +1; she will save the other 50 pp at this point unless a comrade wants to use it to upgrade their gear.
Larissa Brightfoot |
At the old woman's comment, Larissa looks confused, "Conceive of what? Then her eyes widen and her mouth forms a perfect, Oh!" Blushing furiously, she looks down and waits for the others to be done with their business or studiously investigates something away from the proprietor while she gets herself together again.
A little sooner than might be considered polite, she's out the door.
Rholf Kastigarr |
Hey gang... I'm hopefully back, at least once a day, anyway.
Rholf is looking for the following: (I'm including "book" prices. Lemme know if they differ in-game. We're probably kinda SOL on the neutralize poison front... Until we can cast 4th level spells, anyway.)
Antitoxin (vial): 50 gp - Qty: 3
Potion, CLW: 50 gp - Qty: 3
