The halfling, Fae, and large man quickly leave the area.
The trio of players including the dragonfolk continue on their way with little recognition of the event/fight as they were very focused on their own conversation. Soon they reach the witch with the Large man and the Fae standing outside of the hut that Jellena is apparently aiming for.
Alice is brought back somewhere... I am going to leave this to you unless you want me to do it.
Circe and Orik continue to ride around...
Augrok Manyteeth |
"Good morning", he said with a polite smile. "There was a murder today, and several times I have heard people say, 'If only the Wardens'..." His brow creased slightly with a frown that more confusion than anything else. "You are part of these Wardens, and you have helped before— why do you not help now?"
Titus the Gold |
"Uh... I'm.... I am..."
"No no no no. No! This isn't real! It doesn't matter what you say! THIS. IS. NOT. REAL."
"I am... from the Temple of Life... But I descend from a unique breeding of dragonfolk... We are a result of... a pact, between dragons and the Temple of Life... I am sure... My mentor, Nero, could... know more...."

Jellena Darkling |
So if I fail the sense motive check... I believe that what you say is true or at least you believe it as true. Yeah that sounds right.
sense motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
She stops and looks at Titus for a few seconds before she shrugs. 'If you want to live in that fantasy that is your choice. I gave you a chance to realize it before entering combat or worse.'
She then says, "Yeah sure, I will leave that up to Delman, I have a witch to talk to." She then turns fully away from the two of you and looks at the Fae. "Hey Tristan, is Baris inside? Yes, good." And with that she knocks on the door of the hut before entering as she says, "It is Jellena, looking to collect a bag."
Delman Fredrel Vortani III |

"Cool, so what now. Shall we wait for Jellena or what?" Delman says not sure that all the answers got answered but moves on anyway.

Jellena Darkling |
Jellena and Baris emerge from the hut, then Jellena introduces everyone, "Everyone this is Baris Zanthias the Lord of Lighting and Monkery." With that he bows and she continues, "Board is a 'Chosen' of Baris and so is Tristan. Tristan is a Fae from the woods to the North. Delman there is a player, same as Board, and myself. Titus is a dragonfolk though I don't know his speciality. Does anyone have any quests or plans? I do not but would love to keep getting stronger."
Zanthias, Lord of Lightning |
He does bow and flips over easily. He waits until everyone is introduced before offering, "Does everyone now have a HHH? We can check back every few weeks for an improved bag since we opened the avenue for her to have a constant flow of silk. Then I need to collect those who will follow me and make you stronger. It seems most of the quests in Sanctuary have been taken, though we could venture into the dungeon. I can do it now with my new title. Unless any of you remember a secret quest from your previous lives."
Delman Fredrel Vortani III |
Delman nods his head at his name and opens his palm revealing the purple black magic pooling there. He waits for a turn and fully introduces himself in with his Italian accent, "Delman Fredrel Vortani the Third, at your service. I am a Chosen of Lorna Silverlark. Gaining power is my game."
Augrok Manyteeth |
Out at the edge of the square, Augrok paused to look around for a moment, admiring the city now that the sun was up. It was a nice city. Idly, he wondered if there were others... That was something that he was going to have to find out later. For now, he was headed for the nearest entrance to the city to see what the world outside the walls looked like.
Mad Alice |
1d100 ⇒ 1 1-50 female, 51-100 male
Alice's shadow stands and turns its head. It had been some time since it moved at all, and suddenly, it started walking. It passed through buildings, and people, and animals alike until it had walked a complete mile.
There it waited until a dwarf in baker clothes stopped in their carrying of sweets, "Oi! What's dis?" Then there were sweets everywhere, as the tray clattered onto the floor. The young, dwarven baker collapsed onto the ground and writhed for a few violent moments. Then all was well again, the young dwarf pushing herself up and looking morose, "I didn't find him.."
Her shadow took its place behind her, on the floor. She left the baker's shop in a mess, chewing at a sweet roll. She would have to wonder the city and ask around if anyone has seen a fae carrying a pointy stick.
Titus the Gold |
Titus gives a gruff nod to the others as he attempts to maintain his composure from the recent conversation "My specialty? I suppose... I am strong? Yes. I am strong. And as far as a goal...."
Titus points a single golden scaled finger at the Dungeon Tower "I intend to defeat that tower... and beat the game... It would be a worthy tale, or death, to my people."
Jellena Darkling |
She breaks from the group and comes up to ask, "Augrok right?! Where are you headed off to? We were thinking of venturing into the dungeon?"
Augrok Manyteeth |
It had been a couple of days since he had seen the person that came over to greet him and he stopped, frowning slightly as he tried to remember her name. More importantly, he remembered the company that he had seen her with, and she could see him look around the immediate area that she had come from. "Ah! Miss... Dark, yes?", he offered, giving a jovial smile in greeting. Again, his eyes looked around the immediate vicinity before he returned them to her.
The offer was tempting, and would serve his purposes, though he was not sure about where the dungeon was located. "I have reason to accompany you, if you have space..." Again, he looked around, vaguely uncertain. "...These are your 'We'?"
Jellena Darkling |
"Jellena is just fine, but if you must Miss Dark is just fine. I would say there is always space. There is not too many of us and wouldn't numbers be advantageous for our survival? If you had any quests we could venture to fulfill them first, we are kinda wandering at the moment." She says cheerfully and then introduces everyone again, "This is Baris Zanthias the Lord of Lighting and Monkery. Should I add your other title 'Troll Lord?' Board is a 'Chosen' of Baris and so is Tristan. Tristan is a Fae from the woods to the North. Delman there is a player, same as Board, and myself. Titus is a dragonfolk with the specialty of being strong, possibly good DPS or tank. Delman and Tristan are ranged DPS, Board is a tank as is Baris, leaving myself as healing. Augrok what do you specialize in?"
Augrok Manyteeth |
The others he remembered, though Titus was a new addition. 'That race was one of the ones that was a platnium pre-order, wasn't it?' "Ahhh thank you! I remember now! Hello again! You seem to have lost Alice of the Red Cloak?" There was definitely surprise and a hint of relief.
That statement was pointing out the obvious, since they or the creatures that followed her were not in sight. At her question about his role, he spread his arms in a smile. "I am a grappler. Some might call me a brawler."
Mad Alice |
Alice the dwarf quietly approached the others and waits for introductions to end. She begins to speak, "Excuse me, excuse me?" She busies her hands with her apron, wiping them, "If you're creating a party, can you send me an invite to it? I'm a baker and I'll cook things for you." The dwarf looked shyly away, "But I just changed my profession, so I'm not very good at it, and it's hard to get gems through baking alone."
Jellena Darkling |
"Well I did say that the more the merrier. It won't hurt to have her along. Are you a player and have lost your levels or what?" She responds first to the obtuse Fae and then asks the new dwarf a question herself.
Zanthias, Lord of Lightning |
Responding to Augrok's question he states simply, "Alice kinda blew up, I predict her to be dead and gone like Jeffery."
After Jellena accepts the baker into the group:
He waves his hands in the air and says a bit impatiently, "Let us be off before we collect any more random 'allies'." He then is up and off towards the dungeon.
Delman Fredrel Vortani III |
He stands a bit away from the rest of the group with Titus...
After all the antics he whispers to Titus, "More bodies the better but I won't be sacrificing myself for a baker." Then in a louder voice he claps the back of Titus saying with mirth, "At least I know I can rely on you. We will see what the dungeon has in store for us."
Mad Alice |
Alice gives an affirmative nod, "I will do my best in making sure you don't starve! I'm working on a bread that can bring one back from the dead, I'll have you know." She tidies up her outfit with a few hand brushes, following the others towards the dungeon entrance, "I'll stay far away from danger so you don't have to worry about me!"
Titus the Gold |
At Jellena's words Titus gives a small grunt as he puts a hand to his chest "Tank would be my preferred role... My damage is only just enough to get the enemies focused on me... The more I fight at once, the greater my chances of having a good death."
Titus looks towards Alice, the dwarf, with a small sigh "I would say stick close to me.... but that would put you in danger. Just try to do what I do if it is safe, and don't do what I do if it is unsafe. It is why I normally go first. Now, before we enter any dungeon... if we are going straight there..."
Titus reveals his multitude of sp, gp, and crystals "Then I should quickly train in the Temple of Life... I have so much more to learn from my master there...."
Zanthias, Lord of Lightning |
Baris then gives out orders, "Dwarf girl, go get some armor and a weapon. Titus go get training that you need. We will meet here tomorrow morning."
Any PCs going down today? Otherwise we will move the timeline to the next day's morning.
Mad Alice |
The dwarf pulls out a club, because clubs are free. It was actually a thick branch that fit in her hand quite well, "I can defend myself with this. I'm much more hardy than I look, you won't need to worry about me."
With some thought, "But I'll look for some cheap armor. Though I haven't made much money with my bread, I'm working on a new recipe that brings others back. If it becomes popular enough, I'll be rich!" She beamed a heart-warming smile and waved at the others. She returned the next day, however, and she didn't have any armor, "I'm so sorry..I couldn't find any fitting armor on such short notice."
Titus the Gold |
Titus looks over the dwarf the next morning. He had trained all night at the Temple of Life after finding a few vending machines for his abilities.
He nodded to her "...Excuse me... Will you be going with us into the dungeon....?"
Titus also wears no armor and stands in basic clothes, shirtless with a greatsword strapped over his back.
Mad Alice |
Alice dusted off her hands and the cry of her newly acquired dino pet answered behind her. It wore a pink and red bow on its head and the dwarf sized up the dragon, "I am! But I won't go in to places immediately after you. If you're engaged by anything, I won't be in the way, and I have my own little guard dino now!" Baby dino caw'd out, "Isn't he adorable? He started following me, so I gave him a bow."
GM Wolf |
Not sure what Augrok did, but assuming training...
Outside of the Dungeon many parties were collecting. If you got there early you would see Delman talking with a group of adventuring girls. Baris and the mob did wait until everyone arrived before venturing into the Dungeon.
At the entrance likely many of you have seen the naughty 'Doorman Avatar' before and he stands to help first timers more than anything besides agitating the rest of you. Through the entryway and into the first room of the Dungeon you see that there are two main ways to go, up stairs or down a tunnel. Baris leads the group down the tunnel which leads to a pretty big cavern. There are several huts setup around this cavern with basic gear, weapons, and armor. Then there are the multitude of tunnels that lead down into the depths of the Dungeon. One man stands at the entrance to this cavern handing out guide books.
Inside the cover is a card of a blue pearl of protection, if you have problems and need to retreat from the fight this pearl will cast sanctuary on you. You must crush the pearl and if you attempt to attack with the spell on you it will dispel. There is a vending machine you can and should turn the card into to get the pearl of protection. About half of the treasure of the world is given by vending cards.
Also it suggests different shops that most of you know about that are great places to get basic gear. Only if you have to should you pay for the overpriced items in the starting cavern.
There are lots of options and things to interact with so I will wait until you join Baris at one of the tunnels to begin the exploring.
Mad Alice |
It was in that moment that Alice realized...she didn't have any armor proficiencies...oh well! She received one of the guide books and flipped through its pages, about to toss it when she noticed a card within it. She trodded over to vending and slipped it in, watching the machine clunk about and spit out a pearl. Keeping it in her pocket, she returned to the entrance near Baris, at the ready.
Titus the Gold |
Titus takes a pearl from the Doorman, being more accustomed to acquiring items in such a way. He looks curiously over at Alice and her dino with a nod "Oh... This..." He regains his dragon based confidence, returning to a deep and grovelled voice as he continues "I mean this is rather... interesting..."
With a whistle, Titus' own dino (or tiger xD) waddles into the entrance of the dungeon behind him "So..." He takes a guide book as he flips through it "Vending machines... I've not really used them... Most of what I receive is through training at the life temple... How do they work?"
Jellena Darkling |
She takes the offered book and begins to scan it. She takes her time checking out the different stores and stops at one that has a dagger that is sheathed in shadows. "Sir what can you tell me about that dagger? I see that most of the items are priced but that one is not."
GM Wolf |
The sly looking vender smiles as Jellena takes notice of the blade, and in a slithery voice he mumbles out, "That blade like a few others that I have are not for sale but you may take it with you down into the dungeon. Each level you pass if you don't kill something with the dagger it will sap some of your life force, I only come upon these items once a week and each week it is different. Once you return if you have not killed enough beasts within it will return to me when you return. I wish I could sell it but then I would die."
Delman Fredrel Vortani III |
He does not take a guide book and walks past everything and stands next to Baris waiting for the group.
Jellena Darkling |
"Interesting, perhaps once I know how to handle a dagger or have an initiate under my tutelage that focuses in daggers. I will be back and looking for a scythe, should you come upon one I will have a blessing for you if you keep it for me." She says with a wicked smile on her face and then walks to the vending machine. Putting the card in it makes noise before dropping a pearl into the repository. She collects it and secures it in her bag before pointing out the basics of the vending machine to Titus, "You put the card her in this slot, then you pull the lever on the side. If the three symbols match you probably will gain a bonus prize, but if it shows skulls dodge for it might shoot bolts at you or something worse. Then retrieve the item here."
diplomacy check on vender: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
1d100 ⇒ 25
2d30 ⇒ (29, 2) = 31 silver drops
Once done explaining the vending machine she moves over to Baris with the group.
Augrok Manyteeth |
Augrok's eyes narrowed at the dwarf and their pet with something akin to wariness when they passed. 'Alice of the Red Cloak continues to survive...' As he joined with them, he remained of the opposite side of the group from her, not especially surprised by the new appearance. Some of that was pushed to the side when he received the guidebook, and he traded the card in for the item, wondering how all of this could perhaps work. It was interesting to see how commerce set up around the entrance, and while he perused the items, there were none that he wanted to purchase, at least not yet.
The vending machine of chance, however, he liked. "An offering for chance! I like it!" Wearing a large smile, he put a card in, and pulled the lever. As it dispensed things, he looked bemused. "Hm, then I must spend this here." He began perusing the stalls for something consumable that he could purchase with what had come out. Surveying the stalls, he squinted, trying to invoke that odd shift in focus that let him see affiliations.

Titus the Gold |
Titus hesitates over the slot machine but, after a few moments' pause, he decides against it. Instead he pets his new found friend with a rough hand and a sigh as he moves to wait next to Baris "I have a feeling we aren't going to like this, Charlie."
Zanthias, Lord of Lightning |
First Baris looks at a panel of somekind on the wall. He touches it and asks, "What are we scouring for the most, materials, coins, crystals, or drops?" Please vote for one of the four options. With that selected and the group in tow, Baris takes the lead and moves down the tunnel. After a good 100 feet or more a squad of ants are before the group.
"Charge! Kill them all and then follow me!" He bursts out and charges the first three ants. He knocks then down and continues down the main tunnel path, there are two other paths you could explore as well. He slashes and attacks the next group of ants by himself.
Roll Init, the tunnel is 15 feet wide. Please state if you are in the front or behind. Map is up at the top!
Mad Alice |
Alice's pet dino was beside the other dino, making similar, programmed noises. She smiled and commented idly, "Your dino is quite cute! They are such a good price for the amount of crytals." She didn't even see the half-orc glaring at her, because her attention was caught by the charging Baris.
She waited patiently with her hands in her apron pocket, "I say we should go for crystals. This is my first dungeon, and I don't know if I could even use the other options." She wasn't in any hurry, gesturing to the dragon man to take the lead, "After you! I will be safely behind; you don't need to worry about me."
Alice and her pet sit at the entrance of the dungeon, until the dragon man and others move ahead of her. She lingers within sight of them, but no closer.
1 vote for crystals. Alice stays 50ft from the main group, with her dino in front.
Titus the Gold |
Titus, having seen the four floors above them, would walk in stride with Baris, instructing "Charlie" to defend Alice on the front line as well.
When he sees that Alice hangs rather far back behind everyone else, he has "Charlie" defend Baris instead.
"Hmmm... Yes... He is extremely "cute". I am glad to have him... Yours is cute as well, if I'm being honest...." The Dragonfolk's voice breaks as he says this, changing from a grovelled deep tone to much more mild-mannered.
He returns to his dragon like stone face, however, as he sees Baris go into action. "CRYSTALS! BARIS! CRYSTALS!" He calls out to Baris as the man charges, joining him quickly.
Titus and Charlie would be front and center, hoping to take any blows as the others kill the ants. Titus is more than aware of what Delman is capable of if things are kept at a distance.
